Gameloft has given Disney Dreamlight Valley players a heads-up as to what updates to expect in the game over the coming weeks — yes, it really is October very soon (less than a week, even!). And perhaps the biggest thing to note is that the iconic villain from The Lion King, Scar, is coming to the game "in around 3 weeks".
Previously announced for Fall 2022, it looks like Scar will be hitting that window comfortably. Though the developer can't promise the exact date of Scar's arrival in the game, he will be coming alongside a slew of bug fixes for the game.
Some of the high-priority issues that Gameloft is working on squashing out are:
- Crashes on console
- Missing Founder's Pack rewards
- Loss progress prevention
There are also over 40 additional fixes coming to the game over the course of the next few weeks, in addition to the villainous Scar:
Gameloft ended its Twitter thread with one final announcement that'll have many denizens of Dreamlight Valley cheering — an improved Photo Mode, along with some new avatar poses for your in-game character.
We'll let you know when the next update is live on Switch, along with when you can expect to see Scar in-game. For now, you can check out Gameloft's official Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitter account for all of the upcoming information.

I wanna know when Belle and Stitch will be here considering that they're on the cover art 😅 also hoping once the official release happens Mulan is added as soon as possible I really wish she was in it now 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Excited for this, but still waiting on the free release.
That thumbnail image makes me wonder: is a toy only truly dead when its ripped to nothing? And at what point did it stop being a toy? Truly the Schrodinger's Cat of Disney hypotheses.
"We've also got a TON of fixes coming (over 40!)"
They sound almost proud of it... somebody should remind them that it isn't a good thing to need that many fixes!
@Ooyah Game is in a technically beta/early access period for around 1 year.
@SwitchedOn_Games Yeah but as they are currently charging money for it I agree with Ooyah that it’s not a good thing to be proud of. They’re fixing a broken game that they charged you money for. That is the bare minimum IMO. Shouldn’t be selling u a defective product in the first place
40 more fixes and only 960 more to go LOL.
@DiamondJim I agree, but a lot of people would not, rather vehemently I would add, since they themselves funded this behavior.
You should see how the payers defend their purchase of this bugfest. Some are rather amusing, but most are just plain sad. I weep if this is the industry behavior today's gamers are supporting.
If it wasn’t for Splatoon 3 I would definitely be playing much more of this game right now. Even with no more Animal Crossing, it’s going to be hard to try to balance between this and Splatoon. I could use a little Hakuna Matata here!
Welcome news! With a potential fix for irksome Switch crashes, my addiction to this game will be poised to reach new heights (or lows, as the case may be). ✨
It is I, Walt disney talking to you from beyond my grave. Please buy my unfinished game for 70$ Next we will be selling you turds on a stick for 15$, but wait there’s more! The turds are in early access you will have to pay 30$ for 1/2 of the turds. if you don’t like it don’t buy it, but for every person that doesn’t buy it 3 more will.
This game is a mess. I can't finish 2 quest lines because of their terrible programming.
@calbeau you’ve hit the nail with a sledgehammer
I'm not going to be able to finish the first battle-pass bc the game crashes every 30-40 minutes.
I bought it a few days ago since I was off sick from work and wanted a comfort game to play. I guess I am lucky - I got maybe 5 crashes in total, and I have played A LOT since I had nothing else to do this week.
Overall, I think the game has a lot of potential. The mix of Disney characters and farming/life sim mechanics works wonderfully, even in its barebones state. The only issues I have encountered, infrequent crashes aside, are some minor audio distortion and a few graphical glitches that usually got fixed by entering and exiting a building. Once more fixes are in and the game gets more fleshed out with new characters, quests and mechanics, I can see this becoming extremely successful (and fun) in the long run.
The thing to keep in mind is that the game is still in early access - aka, beta phase. Glitches and relatively minor issues are to be expected, and the developers seem to be very responsive to player feedback in terms of bug fixes and patch implementation. Though I am not a huge fan of the recent Steam trend of games releasing in early access for full price and then taking years to get to version 1.0, I am actually happy with the amount of fun I'm getting for my £20 since it looks like I'll be playing this on and off for a few years at least a' la Animal Crossing. Is it a cash grab? Oh, absolutely. But one that I am enjoying thoroughly in my Covid-addled state.
