PlatinumGames' anticipated release Bayonetta 3 is finally launching on the Nintendo Switch next month, and ahead of its launch, Nintendo has issued a new update for the original Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 on the system.
Version 1.1.0 for both games includes additional language support options. Here are the patch notes for both:
Bayonetta (Version 1.1.0) - Sept 29, 2022
General
Added support for Korean, Chinese (simplified), and Chinese (traditional) as in-game display and subtitle languages. *Voice support languages are Japanese and English only.
Bayonetta 2 (Version 1.1.0) - Sept 29, 2022
General
Added support for Korean, Chinese (simplified), and Chinese (traditional) as in-game display and subtitle languages. *Voice support languages are Japanese and English only.
*The latest update data is required to play online elements.
*Local communication is not compatible with Ver. 1.0.0. Please match the version of the update data with the person you play with.
Nintendo will also be releasing a physical Switch version of the original game on 30th September. A physical version of Bayonetta 2 has already been released on the Nintendo Switch and included a digital copy of the first game.

Finally a physical Bayonetta 1 for Switch.
As far as I'm concerned, good news for those who didn't buy the Bayo 1+2. These are great games. Go check'em. But now I can't help but think that Big N milk the cow, because the people who were early buyers didn't have the first one on a physical edition. Some of them will surely buy the first episode just because it's physical.
I can live without it, but next time, Nintendo please...
clearly buying the first game for physical release
Can we get a physical rerelease of Bayo2 please? I can't find one for less then 65 USD
I have them on the Wii U, and just played through Bayonetta 2 again. I'm going to miss being able to use headphones through the controller when B3 arrives.
Wasn’t Bayonetta 1 free as a download with Bayonetta 2?
Ugh. One of Nintendo’s relatively few physical releases without any kind of update... until now. Couldn’t they have just issued an Asian release with the extra languages? In any case, this better be baked into the reissued B1 cart.
It’s also weird that Bayonetta 2 isn’t getting a standalone reissue (that we know of).
@Olmectron : Bayonetta 1 has had a physical release from the beginning, albeit exclusively via the Japanese collector’s edition. It came with a dual-slot Steelbook too. It was produced in ridiculously limited quantities though (and was never issued a reprint). Bayonetta has only one build internationally, so this release had English support from day dot, and was sought by collectors.
where to buy bayonetta 1 phisical??? only play Asia? I can't find it on Amazon IT
Where is the European physical edition of Bayonetta 1? Nintendo Europe have been completely silent about it since it was announced. There’s no European release date and no real pre orders available anywhere?
@FangerZero
Nah. Played both Bayo 1 and 2 on Switch years ago and looked and ran fine. You don’t need a high end PC to play and enjoy a 360 and Wii U era game.
Really wish they'd put the bundle of 1 and 2 on sale sometime. Have them on the Wii U and I would happily double-dip on them but I'm certainly not doing it at full price.
@hayface Base.com still has the Switch Bayonetta available for preorder. It's where I preordered mine. I had a search around, but I couldn't find it anywhere else.
@WhiteUmbrella That just seems like a place holder pre order to me. Their release date of 31 December is meaningless. Clearly they don’t know when they’re going to get stock!
@hayface If it doesn't appear on Nintendo's store tomorrow, then I imagine it is either delayed or canceled. The europe version was available on Play-Asia soon after the announcement, but they have since removed it. I've gone and ordered the japanese copy so I can secure it.
@WhiteUmbrella Base always put up stuff really early and there is no reason to believe they're actually getting copies of this. At least not anytime soon.
I already have Bayonetta 1 and 2 on the Wii U, so I'm good. I still have my Wii U connected, and still use it.
@ZealMajin I think you’re right. Nintendo’s silence on the whole thing since it was announced is crazy though. It’s a shame Platinum aren’t publishing it as I imagine they’d be more responsive about the whole thing! Where have you ordered your Japanese copy from?
@ZealMajin My preorder with Base.com has been in place since July, when the Bayonetta physical release was first announced. Judging from the games absence on most sites, stock allocation has been delayed. I've used Base.com for many years and they've only let me down with a preorder once. Amazon has let me down more times than that. I've also had bad experiences with Zavvi (which I still use) and Shopto and 365games.co.uk (both of which I will never use again). I have quite a lot of faith in PlayAsia too, and had a delivery of three Switch imports from them just a few days ago. However, it's worth noting that PlayAsia also has disappearing listings for games that never materialise, for example, they were the only site to host a listing for a physical Portal Collection, which mysteriously disappeared. I think I will wait and see, since an import PlayAsia would cost more than a domestic release, especially to the UK right now.
@hayface I got it from Play-Asia for about £35 after using my free coins and SwitchWatch code. I imagine the physical would have been £30~ here so not too bad. Won't get it for a few weeks of course, but that doesn't matter.
@Strumpan Bluetooth headphones work on switch though, so you could use wireless headphones or a receiver
So I guess this technically counts as exclusive content for the Switch version of Bayonetta 1...?
Got the Special Edition of Bayonetta 2 on Wii U that came with the first game so I'm happy with those even though €60 for 2 games I thoroughly enjoy is good value I must admit.
@ferryb001 I know, but it's too much lag for me.
Ahh yes thanks for having me download a bunch of languages I don't read. Seems a bit late to do this, that's normally something that comes with the ga...oh yeah we buy half finished products now and wait for the rest, my bad.
@Zach777 I got it Physically with the Special Edition.
@ZealMajin I already have Bayonetta on PS3, Steam, Wii U, Switch as a download and Xbox One, so given that it's a title I've already played, I don't feel a sense of urgency about getting it on release day.
Glad they are releasing a physical version, but come on, restock the physical version of Bayonetta 2!!! Its selling at crazy markups everywhere because there is no stock!
YES! They Physical version of Bayo 1 is great new to (finally) get!!
@WhiteUmbrella Base recently completely cancelled my order of the Amnesia Day 1 double pack collection without warning claiming the supplier wouldn't give them a release date...I immediately reordered it from Amazon (same price, fortunately) and it turned up on the day it was meant to be out, so not sure what that was about. Usually they're reliable though. I've even been able to get a couple of US only physicals from them, like the Capcom Fighting Collection a short while back.
Need fire up the game and get the releaes.
Bought the first game on my PS4 not going to get the second though because Nintendo refuses to do decent sales lol
Yes! Now i can get the 1st game for switch because i rented the 2nd game so i never got the 1st game for switch.
