Nintendo is gearing up for the launch of Splatoon 3 on September 9th, and if you're eager to see more footage ahead of the third game's release, you're in luck.
The company has uploaded a new video on YouTube, and although it's entirely in Japanese, it's pretty easy to follow along if you're already familiar with the way of the Inklings.
There's no word on a localisation of this trailer, but it will probably happen if this follows the same pattern as Nintendo's previous overview video uploads.
In somewhat related news, Nintendo earlier this week launched its local advertising campaign for the game with a real-world style commercial. You can check it out in our previous story.
There's also a world premiere taking place later this month on August 27th. You can pre-order the demo now, and it'll be available to download later today.
Are you looking forward to the release of Splatoon 3 next month? Tell us below.

I just want to know… do parties with friends work properly now? I haven’t had time to watch videos, sadly. Can I join a team with 3 friends and consistently be on the same team? The only way to do this previously was during Splatfests.
I just can't decide if I want this game or not and honestly this trailer did absolutely nothing for me. It was literally like I was watching a clip of Splatoon 1 or 2.
A Trailer should make me go "wow I want that" but this one didn't have that effect at all, quite possibly the opposite in fact.
My body is ready!
Splatoon 2 is the most played nintendo game on my console. Bring it!
Can't wait for this.
I understand people being on the fence about it.
But for me personally i can't wait for the little bits of lore I'll learn about the splatoon universe during the single player campaign.
New maps will be enough to make online seem fresh. I read that two modes will be active online at once? If true i can avoid clam blitz like the plague and not have to wait two hours to play. New salmon run bosses and maps yesssss. Also really digging the removal of launch pads/safe zones, squid parties are going to be a lot less of an annoyance in this game.
Really wish they added ai though for offline training, even in the training area make the squid balloons pursue or something. I really found the training area useless.
I see I'm not the only one who watched this and thought, "Meh." I'm going to buy it because I love Splatoon, and even though it's not a lot of bang for you buck, I really enjoy the single player campaign. But I was really hoping the multiplayer would show off some really new ideas. But it really does look like more of the same. I wonder if we're now officially in the late stage of the Switch where all the games coming out for the console have a decidedly halfhearted feel as Nintendo puts their real effort into the next console.
Ha, actually this trailer sold me the game better than the entire Direct. But, it still looks more of the same. I'm sure my kids will love it tho.
I’m already sold. Been sold for about a month now !
Oof. Hard pass. Was hoping for something different that we havent seen. But it looks like our suspicions have been confirmed. 👎
@Lemonyoshi Yes they confirmed this is possible now. This was confirmed on both the Splatoon 3 Direct and the official website.
I’ll admit, even if Splatoon 3 had minor changes I’d be hyped. But after that Direct you can’t deny there’s so much stuff you couldn’t simply add in Splatoon 2.
I can’t wait for my most anticipated game of the year as it’ll be my main game for the next couple of years.
See you at the Splatfest!
I think labeling this clip as a "trailer" is misleading, as its main purpose is to explain the basic premise of Splatoon to someone who has never played it before (the Japanese thumbnail caption literally says "for those who are about to begin Splatoon").
In other words, the target audience for this clip is complete newbies - whom they want to appeal to so they can actively grow the player base. Of course there's not much new information on Splatoon 3, as all of that was already in the Splatoon Direct!
People, watch the direct instead of this "trailer". The game has more changes than a yearly new CoD.
I'll probably get this game around the holidays. Looks great.
I know it's nice to keep surprises but it's odd how little Nintendo's shown of Hero Mode or even Salmon Run. Once again, Hero Mode is just skimmed over, and Salmon Run isn't even overviewed in this trailer.
It would be nice if they could show more of Hero Mode while still avoiding spoilers. It would also be nice to see more of Hero Mode's gameplay because it seems to be a lot like previous games, yet I recognize the Fail Balloons from Octo Expansion, which might imply more varied objectives than just going from Point A to Point B.
