Inti Creates, the developer behind Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 — the long-awaited third mainline game in the series — has acknowledged that there's a save data-corrupting bug in the Switch version of the game.
Sharing the information on Twitter, the bug can occur when you delete a save file and then change the settings or language options on the title screen. This will then cause the last played save file to get corrupted. The issue only appears to have happened since the game was updated to ver. 1.0.2.
Fortunately, Inti Creates has confirmed it's working on a patch to fix the issue. It also shared tips on how to avoid the issue in the meantime.
We've shared the statement below along with the original tweet:
Important Information on Gunvolt 3 Save Bug
A bug has been discovered in the Nintendo Switch version of Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 that is capable of corrupting save data. Please look over the following information for methods to avoid this bug. We apologize for the inconvenience.Details on the Issue
The following issue exists in the Azure Striker Gunvolt on Nintendo Switch as of ver. 1.0.2.
Deleting a save file from the file select screen, and then changing the settings or language options from the title screen will cause the last played save slot to read incorrectly.
Starting the game from this slot, then encountering an auto-save or saving manually will cause this save slot to become corrupted. How to Avoid
If you encounter a situation that may cause this issue before a new update has been released, please close the application before the game can auto-save (occurs when changing settings). Start the game again to resume play as normal.
If a save slot has already been corrupted, delete that save slot or copy save data from a functioning slot over it to restore functionality in that save slot.Update Information and Apologies
We sincerely apologize to all customers inconvenienced by this issue.
We are already working on preparing a patch to fix the issue. We will announce a distribution date for the update as soon as possible. Until the patch is available, please use the above methods to avoid the save bug.
Hopefully, the patch will be ready fairly soon for players so you don't have to dance around, and we're glad Inti Creates has acknowledged the issue quickly. We'll update you as soon as the bug has been patched out.
In our review of Azure Striker Gunvolt 3, we complemented the new playable character and tight level design, stating that the "focus on the ranking system make this one a highly replayable experience".

At least they have admitted it and are working on a fix, unlike Chaos on Desponia where near the end of the game there is a transport bug which completely screws you, and because you are playing on a switch you dont save or have a save point to go back to so have to play it all over again. This bug has been there since 2015 and still has not been fixed, it stopped me playing it even though I was having fun with it.
@Bunkerneath can't go wrong with some transparency, right? Kudos to Inti Creates
Good, it should be patched out long before I put in time on it.
So I guess that means I won't touch the game until they fix the problem with a patch.
