As if the Kirby 30th anniversary music festival and release date announcement for Kirby's Dream Buffet wasn't enough pink puffball content for one day, the event also revealed the early 2000s anime, Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, will receive the HD remaster treatment.
The release of the new Blu-Ray edition of the anime is currently only announced for Japan, though we remain hopeful that a wider release will be confirmed before the end of the year.

The show will be a complete remaster of the series which originally aired between 2001 and 2003 in Japan. Watching Kirby in high definition certainly sounds like it's right up our street, making it the perfect mint-and-hot-towel end after consuming all that desert in Kirby's Dream Buffet.
If the remaster is to receive a wider release, it will have been a stellar year for Kirby's. Released earlier this year, Kirby and the Forgotten Land truly stole our hearts, prompting our highly recommended review in which we described the game as "an absolute delight".

Finally some love for the series! Hope we get it here!
If this comes over to the West then this year can be officially classified as a fever dream (moreso than it already was).
Yes, please bring this abroad as well!
Colour me skeptical, but I'm expecting this to be nothing more than the typical SD upscaled crap that we're used to seeing from classic TV anime releases on Blu-ray in Japan.
And judging from whatever little footage they used in the trailer, it's clearly culled from an SD source. "Remastered" my hide. Here's hoping that they don't do to Kirby what Viz Media did to Sailor Moon over in the States.
Its about time they updated, that show has been stuck with 2003 quality for about two decades. Even if its just Japan thats getting it.
Yeah Kirby is finally coming exclusively to PS4/PS5 via Blu-ray and not Switch.
Somebody get the rights and dub the remaster for Latin America so we can have it the way it was meant to be seen and not the way 4Kids wanted us to see it.
I know I'd be asking for too much, but if that happens, I hope they can get some of the cast of the original dub, I especially liked the voices of Tiff, Tuff, Kawasaki, Meta Knight's first voice and the Nightmare Enterprises employee.
I did not know this existed and is surely worth a watch. Would also be cool if they release the Animal Crossing movie in the west.
Hmm never seen the show so I may get this.
Oh, I hope we get this. I think I missed this one back in the day. I want to say it started airing right around the time I had to start working on Saturday mornings and had to be an adult 😂
How can I help you King Dedede?
I just need to hear King DeDeDe scream "KAHBY!!" In his southern accent.
Oh. My. GOD! PLEASE bring this to the US with the English dub PLEASE! I could only watch the sub because some company (that’s not Nintendo surprisingly) keeps copyright striking the English dub episodes down on YouTube.
@Greatluigi I'm with you. We need Discotek Media to get the rights from Funimation, so the show can have a complete series box set. But Nintendo needs to make it happen. it can join the likes of Shaman King, Fighting Foodons, Dinosaur King and Sonic X as part of the 4Kids English Dub collection.
@YoshiAngemon You sir, are speaking my language.
I'd like to watch this show since I've heard good things about it compared to other animated Nintendo series, but I don't own a Blu-Ray player. I really wish they'd just throw it on a streaming service or something. Maybe release a Kirby Channel app like how we already have a Pokémon one.
What about the Mega Man NT Warrior anime?
WHERE CAN I WATCH THIS IN USA SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME FIND IT
@Mr_Gamecube Same here, along with Sonic X and F-Zero: GP Legend. Of course, Fox Box later renamed itself 4Kids TV, and it was only years later, when I got into high school and REALLY started to get into anime, that I learned just how terrible 4Kids was when it came to localization and dubbing (on par with, or worse than, DIC Entertainment, which did the original English Dub of Sailor Moon).
Still, even then, I had fond memories of all those shows, and would love to see them again, but this time in their raw, unedited, Japanese form, especially F-Zero: GP Legend. 4Kids ultimately dropped the show before it ended (just like they did with One Piece, although that was a whole different story), and I had no idea how it ended until years later. At least they got to the end of Kirby: Right Back At Ya! and Sonic X.
@Silly_G To be fair, I doubt there's much more than they can. They probably didn't keep 20 year old assets around.
I wish they released it to rest of the world.

@cooliomonfoolio you are the best thank you so much!
@PokemonDMG I think that falls on Viz Media's jurisdiction. Same goes for Mega Man Star Force.
@Link-Hero Fun fact, the original Japanese version is nicknamed "Japanese South Park" by the Japanese fandom due to the amount of satire and parody of other anime. All of that was taken away in the 4Kids version unfortunately.
@cooliomonfoolio I know two episodes are still missing dub audio the buccaneer birdy and dededes monster piece specifically. If nintendo does re-release it we will finally have no more lost footage/audio from this series.
@Link-Hero I know I'm a month late, but I'd be very annoyed if they don't release the 4Kids dub. I want them to release the 4Kids dub and play the audio over the uncensored Japanese animation. If lines don't match it, then they could get the original VA cast to redub certain parts.
However, I do think that the Japanese version should include optional subtitles. Oh, and having the option to switch out the 4Kids OST for the Japanese OST would be a nice thing to have in both releases. Options and stuff.
@Link-Hero I'm well aware with the controversies surrounding 4Kids, but I hear far more love for the English dub than hate. It's rare for me to find someone who doesn't like it. It'd be a shame to not at least try to overlay it and redo parts that don't work. Interchangeable OSTs would also be nice because, again, options. If they can't get every single voice actor for lines that need to be changed, then they could replace them with VAs that can get close enough to the old voices.
