Original Story: It's been another exciting week for the Pokémon series — with the reveal of new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet information. We've seen more new 'mon, discovered a bit more about the new region Paldea and found out you can tackle gyms in any order.
Before this new adventure launches later this year, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company will be hosting another limited-time distribution event in their original Switch outing Pokémon Sword and Shield. This one is slightly different compared to recent ones.
As highlighted by Serebii.net, trainers will be able to unlock Ash's entire team - made up of Dracovish, Dragonite, Gengar, Sirfetch'd and Lucario. With codes to be distributed starting from August 12th.
There'll also be a distribution of a 'World Cap Pikachu' on 11th August for Japan.
Although this event is scheduled for Japan, Serebii.net webmaster Joe Merrick has confirmed the codes will work outside of this region. So we should have no issues redeeming them here in the west. Here's the schedule (note: each one is Level 80):
Dracovish - August 12th
Dragonite - August 26th
Gengar - September 2nd
Sirfetch'd - September 9th
Lucario - September 16th
We'll update this post when this distribution event goes live. Are you still playing Sword and Shield on a regular basis? Leave a comment down below. And view all of the past code distributions for Sword and Shield in our full guide.

Ah yes, Ash's team of 5. Iconic if you will. Sure glad nobodies missing from this lineup.
Sweet, I’ll be looking forward to this.
@patbacknitro18 Oops, just to clarify - a 'World cap Pikachu' will be distributed on August 11th.
It's alright I guess even though they'll likely just be stuck in a box doing nothing.
😊I'm so glad my favourite Switch Pkm Game is still getting some love...
I've not touched SwSh in ages but maybe I'll pick these up, I dunno.
Inaccurate team no mega lucario
I haven’t redeemed any of the previous event ‘Mon but I will these because….we’ll, c’mon it’s Ash’s Pokémon.
WOOSH-off to my calendar to start setting reminders!
@Liam_Doolan ah, I thought they just weren't gonna distribute a pikachu. That would of been odd
This is actually something I hope we get after every anime, Because I would love to get ashes Pokémon team, yes you can make it yourself, but it’s still cool.
Why only 5 mon in Ash’s team?
Hooray! More Pikachu with caps!
@FatWormBlowsASparky Pikachu with a hat on August 11th
@Epic617 the game doesn’t even support megas sadly.
Mega Pokémon were the only “gimmick” that was fun.
Cool looks for some Pokémon and even new ability’s for others when using it.
Everything after that felt meh, Z moves you could fully ignore because they did not add anything (luckily sun and moon did support mega stones too)
Gigantamax same story but even worse, however only in regular battles because in raids it made a littlebit more sense.
And Scarlett and Violett same thing from what I saw.
I don’t mind the gimmicks, also I don’t say everyone should like mega evolutions.
But be consistent and stick to one of them…
This is such a cool distribution. I already have the World Cap Pikachu back when they did that promotion for the Isle of Armor if I'm not mistaken but I'll glady take all of them regardless. I hope these are in Cherish Balls because a Sirfetch'd in one would just be absolutely perfect (though I won't be mad if they aren't). More mons for the Event box in my HOME is more than fine with me!
This is pretty awesome, look forward to owning them.
if I remember I'll get them I guess don't really care that much 🤷
I just recently picked up S&S, so it's nice to actually get SOMETHING from a mystery event.
Cool.
I'll definitely be using the codes to get these Pokémon.
Definitely will keep my eye on that Dragonite. Hopefully it has some exclusive moves/etc.
Anyone get the code yet for World Cap Pikachu? Not yet available from what I can tell even as of 1438 PST.
@ChromaticDracula World Cap Pikachu is only available for people who bought tickets for movie in Japan code is not shareable the other 5 pokemon will be for everyone tho

@CodyMKW thank you I totally read the whole thing wrong. I thought it was a blanket “all codes will work outside Japan…”
I thought they were releasing the code to everyone at a certain time today. WOOPS! Thanks!
Are the codes live yet?
The first code is up, for Dracovish:
GANJ 0UAG 0882
@shock_trooper A shame it isn't LALALALA since.....well, you know.
Wait, no Capachu?
Where's that Pikachu with the hat?
@FroZtedFlakerZz @Tyranexx Japan only https://twitter.com/SerebiiNet/status/1555421995768086529
@CodyMKW Oof. Well, at least we can access the rest.
@Rayquaza2510 Granted, I'm someone who liked the idea of megas better than their execution, I like that they keep changing things up. To me, it breathes more life into the Pokemon world, since different technologies, cultural, or geographical particulars about the nation shape up how battle is done rather than just stacking new stuff on top of each other. It also has the effect of making each generation feel unique enough that you can visit it again without the game feeling dated/lacking what future games have.
Just a friendly counter take; I like the discussion
@Liam_Doolan What happened to the Ash Cap Pikachu distribution? 🧐
@TowaHerschel7 @Liam_Doolan
The Ash Cap Pikachu was one-use codes given out at Japanese cinemas, not a common code anyone can use.
@TowaHerschel7 Yep, to clarify this is Japan only. Though, as mentioned above - the cap Pikachu promo has been run before. As also noted in the article, the other codes are for Japan but fortunately we're able to redeem them locally.
No Cherish Ball or anything special about it beyond a line of text saying its from the Anime, shame.
No they are サトシ's/Satoshi's Pokémon. Ash is the English name. Check the event Pokémon's actual data before you print fake news. This article would be true if and when they decide to re-release these Pokémon abroad in English, with the Trainer ID as Ash.
Sucks we (outside of Japan) miss out on Pika but I got enough event Pikachus as it stands
