Dungeons & Dragons is undergoing an almighty resurgence at the moment, with growing mainstream interest in the evergreen tabletop RPG. There are Joe Manganiello's celebrity campaigns, Stranger Things has brought the game to the attention of a new generation, and it even has a Chris Pine-starring movie coming out later this year. With the latest Kickstarter campaign launching for Gordian Quest's console release, this may be your chance to bring some of that delicious tabletop flavour to the Switch.
The game tasks with building a party of heroes, each with their own individual abilities, and leading them on a quest to complete missions and unravel mysteries. We're certainly intrigued by the concept, and with a recent PC release gathering Very Positive reviews on Steam, developer Mixed Realms is now set to embark on a different style of campaign, with Switch and PS5 ports being the goal if it can raise $25,000.
The Kickstarter campaign launches tomorrow — 23rd July — and promises a number of incentives for anyone interested in supporting it, ranging from an appearance in the credits to the chance to name an NPC. Just please use this power responsibly, nobody wants 'NPC McNPCface' giving them a side quest, thank you very much. [Do it - Ed.]
Check out some of the title's more specific features from the official Kickstarter press release below:
Unique card progression system: A blend of the customization opportunities of action RPGs with thoughtful deck-building.
Variety of heroes: Recruit ten heroes, each with their own unique class, skills, and playstyle to form a party of three and bring to the adventure. Play as the Swordhand, Cleric, Ranger, Scoundrel, Spellbinder, Druid, Bard, Warlock, Golemancer, or the Monk.
Hundreds of skills: The large variety of passive and active skills that can be deployed during turn-based battles allows players to discover and formulate their favorite combos.
Choices matter: Shape the course of your adventure with critical decisions and dice rolls.
Synergy system: Build up synergy between pairs of heroes through interactions in-game, allowing them to perform team combos.
Multiple game modes: A variety of ways for players to experience and replay the game - a rogue-lite Realm Mode, a long-form Campaign and Adventure Mode, and a 2-player PvP mode.
Customizable difficulty: Five levels of challenge ranging from Easy to Torment, plus togglable permadeath options that allow players to tailor their journey to their preference.
High replayability: Procedurally generated maps, dungeons, and randomized hero skills make each playthrough unique, and players will get rewarded across multiple game modes. Players can expect each run to last about half an hour in Realm Mode, to more than 30 hours of gameplay in the long-form modes.

Aww, what happened to the Jeremy Irons 2000s film Dungeons and Dragons, or the 80s Cartoon?
Anyways, another deck builder? No thanks
@Bunkerneath the game is rly good and fun, so far pretty unique to me
i just dont get why a kickstarter for console ports...
Want To See D&D-Style Deck Builder 'Gordian Quest' On Switch? No thanks!
When I read "D&D" I initially thought they were bringing the Capcom Beat 'em ups to Switch... one can dream I guess...
Really good game, excellent art and design combined with polished gameplay.
Yeah this looks like my cup of tea.
Guess I'm burned out on deck building. I guess I'm in the mood for an old school turn-based ATB like RPG with the D&D license. That might be fun.

I'll have what he's having!
@miwa they put then on the Wii U eshop, I wonder what's stopping them from doing the same for the switch. Maybe when next D&D movie comes out, they'll do it.
F*** Stranger Things. They have no right using D&D references if they can't use them correctly. They took one of the greatest villains in D&D lore and made him a laughing stock. Not to mention what they did to the Demogorgon. F*** them.
Chinese chicken for the ps2enah'1/2...no thanks. Looks like cheap flash game for hard phone. Log pass.
I am definitely backing this on KS. I quit video games for about 10 years to solely play board games (where the deck building mechanic arose) F2F with my mates. Proper geek mate e.g.
Dominion
Ascension
Thunderstone
Mage Knight
A Few Acres of Snow
Dune Imperium
Then discovered video game deck builders:
Slay the Spire
Monster Train
Griftlands
Hoping Inscyption, Tainted Grail Conquest and Poker Quest gets the same treatment!
I have this game on Steam. I paid U$7
Great game!
Hope they make physical release..
