Update [Sun 10th Jul, 2022 07:00 BST]: Bandai Namco has uploaded a few more trailers of SD Gundam Battle Alliance (above and below). It gives fans a better look at the character and mobile suit line-ups that will be on offer. Enjoy!
Original article [Fri 27th May, 2022 04:55 BST]: Earlier this year in February, Bandai Namco announced it would be bringing its action RPG SD Gundam Battle Alliance to Switch and multiple other platforms. Developer Artdink Corporation has now locked in a release date - confirming the game will be released worldwide, across all platforms, on 25th August 2022 for $59.99 USD.

There'll also be a Deluxe Edition available for $84.99 - which includes a season pass, an early Gundam unlock, and some other pre-order bonuses (SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden Pack and Mobile Suit Launch Support: Start Dash Pack).
Here's a bit about the story from our previous coverage of the game:
After strange incidents known as "Breaks" occur across the Gundam universe, it's your job to find out what's going on and restore the proper timeline. You'll do this by leading three mobile suits into battle - with this entry featuring over 20 different mobile suit Gundam series. There'll also be the ability to battle alongside friends in online co-op multiplayer.

Hmm looking good though a little thin on classic Gundam shows for my taste. Still, it’s got First, Zeta, ZZ, and Char so it’s got my attention. I’ll give it the ‘ol Newtype try!
I’m still working on the sd gundam generations and cross rays games… sigh. I need a clone.
Starting to look like an all-digital release, or one where only Japan and maybe Asia get the physical release.
Will have to keep an eye out for more details.
What a deal, $25 extra bucks to download the season pass and extra DLC available at launch, plus early unlocks and starter boost so you can play LESS of your brand new game! Haha..
@FX102A Wouldn't be the first time I've had to import physical gundam games. Doubt it'll be the last!
@Ryu_Niiyama
You will always be working through them They're SRPGS though, this is an ARPG, so you're good
Watching that video has definitely made me quietly excited about it.
It's atleast going to cost £65 maybe more for physical though if they do it.
@HollowSpectre Only problem is the season pass won't be compatible with the physical edition then.
24th Saints row
25th sd gundam
26th soul hackers 2
(On my birthday)
My wallet in august 😭😭😭
I think i wil wait with Saints row until its in a sale or i am going to sell a kidney 😂
@DogDetective There's a precedent of sorts. The first print of the Hong Kong release of Super Robot Wars 30 (another Bamco game) came with DLC codes that had to be redeemed on the Japanese eShop.
Or it may be just as well that there's going to be a later re-release like G-Generation Cross Rays got - all the DLC in one cart.
Hmm, I wish the designs weren't so chibi but the game itself doesn't look bad.
This should hold me over until Koei Tecmo decides to make a DW Gundam Reborn 2
@farrgazer if they do the all in one physical release down the road, immediate buy, provided the base version doesn't get a US release.
@Teksetter a man of culture I see
I love Gundam so probably yeah I'll get it. I really enjoyed code fairy.
@Zarkon
Well, that’s lady of culture, really, though more accurately you could just say I’m old. 😉
Thanks for the compliment though!
And yes, the first Gundam show in particular was epic and worthy of all those successors.
Hey my bad. We gotta change that saying to a person of culture anyways. Lol us oldheads love us some ZZ and zeta don't we? 😁
@moodycat So far it's just the Asian release on playasia that has english like all the previous gundam switch games.
@Zarkon
Oh sorry, never saw your reply till now!
Yes, watching the older U.C. Gundam shows and OVA’s will always be my favorite.
Newtypes for us old types!
Although I confess I was fond enough of the zany G Gundam to buy that set of laser discs. As an American I was so compelled to root for Chibodee Crockett. 😁
I preordered the Japanese standard edition just yesterday, and was pleased to see Play Asia list all the Gundam titles that Battle Alliance includes. Read on if you don’t mind spoilers:
Mobile Suit Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack Beltorchika’s Children
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn
Mobile Suit Gundam F91
Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam
Mobile Suit V Gundam
Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
After War Gundam X
Turn A Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED VS Astray
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny
Mobile Suit Gundam 00
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie -Awakening of the Trailblazer-
Reconguista in G
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
Musha Knight Command: SD Gundam Scramble
Looks like a really comprehensive list, covering all the Gundam I really need! I’m looking forward to late summer. I do hope the pilots are voice-acted, though - I’ll have to check these new trailers.
And I don’t know how I’m supposed to play this AND Splatoon 3…
I never played a Gundam game. This could be my first. The gameplay seems fun and I like the cute chibi look. I watched Gundam Unicorn and the one with Augus. Good shows.
I am soooo looking forward to this game for my Switch. I recently put together my new gunpla Barbatos lupen rex and i know that version might not make it in the game but I am happy with this game coming to nintendo switch.
