It's good news for hardware sales in the UK for Nintendo for June. After a few quiet months in hardware and game sales, Nintendo has seen a bit of a boost — as have Sony and Microsoft.
Switch hardware sales have increased by 24% on the previous month, gameindustry.biz's Chris Dring shared on Twitter. The Xbox Series saw the biggest jump of the three compared to May 2022, with an increase of 31%. So overall, things are looking up!
Sales are still down year-on-year, likely related to the ongoing chip shortages and hardware shortages that are slowly improving, but it looks like things will continue to steadily improve.
Nintendo was likely helped out in June by two major first-party releases after a very quiet May. Both Mario Strikers: Battle League and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes launched last month, with Strikers, in particular, staying comfortably in the top three since it launched. And in July, Nintendo has Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to cap off the month, so it may well be another big month for the Big N.
As always, let us know your thoughts on the sales numbers in the comments.

Still doomed tho. I mean, just look at the thing. Rubbish.
I kind of half wish they would start to fall off a bit at this point, just so there's some incentive for a new console release.
Wow, I guess those "supply chain problems" must really be helping in the UK, yet they're hindering Japanese sales. How mysterious.
The UK is one of those EU countries where all 3 consoles do well and have lately been even sales
roughly.
The full article does go on to say to date year 2022 the switch is the biggest UK selling console.
I'm kinda curious of the demographic buying Switch consoles. Are the majority of buyers this year owners of previous Switches and are looking to upgrade/replace/add to their previous Switch console purchase? Or is there still a large market of first time buyers? This could determine the future success of the console, like an iPad or smartphone, people are going to wear down their devices and are going to want replacements. This will keep an ever rotating demand for the product that will keep sales constant. All Nintendo has to do is keep iterating on the console from this point forward, it's become a staple in households. In Japan for example (since we actually see weekly sales data) at least 45k units have been sold every week (this number is much higher during holiday sales) and it's been pretty constant for the past few years.
@Axecon
Well I upgraded from day one switch to OLED switch.
@gcunit why do you think the xbox is rubbish?
@dystome as a console it definitely feels dated. I have mixed emotions about a new hardware upgrade….I am not huge on graphics, but after playing games on series x, it’s the loading times that make the Switch feel so old. So, would I rather see a new iteration sooner, or have them stretch it out a little longer, but have more noticeable improvement? I would rather see them wait in hopes of a bigger leap in power.
@Axecon there has to be a lot of first time buyers bc look at the sales of MK8….
