If you're looking for an exhilarating multiplayer experience, you can't go past Among Us - the game where an imposter must eliminate players one by one and flee from the scene of the crime before being caught.
The talented team at Innersloth is always looking to improve the experience, and with this in mind, it's now teased plans for its next update. There'll be "general updates and improvements" that didn't make the most recent update.
Here's a small sample of what's to come (via Steam):
- New Cosmicube! You’ve been wanting more cosmetics and ways to spend your Stars and Beans, and don’t worry, something is coming. It’s a secret for now but let’s just say it’ll be delicious.
- Automatic game error reporting. This is more of a backend fix that you won’t see, but it’s cool enough to note! Essentially we’re implementing a system that alerts us if certain platforms or devices are experiencing weird crashes or other errors, which helps us pinpoint bugs to fix more easily. One step closer to getting an in-game bug reporting feature, wooOOOoOOo.
- The ability to change the map in the lobby settings without having to leave and start a new game.
- Small store and inventory redesigns, bug fixes, and more improvements. Keep an eye out!
This update will arrive as soon as it's ready. And following this, there will be the big "Hide n Seek" update - with aims to get it out at some point this year.

Oh man, the ability to change the map while in the lobby is HUGE.
I have been waiting for the hide n seek mode
Man, this game kinda fell off, I feel. Aside from the amogus jokes I rarely hear about this game anymore.
May try it again sometime.
I love just taking a break from games and coming back to them with a fresh mind, this being one of them!
I can't wait for the Hide & Seek mode just so I can stop accidentally loading into those terrible lobbies.
Tbh Among Us is still triving, its just not nearly as discussed at a more critical level. Because memes.
Reminds me of a certain 2012 hack and slash made by Platinum Games which is based off of a stealth game that blew up in popularity with a PS1 game. I think it was called Dirt Cog Gas?
Besides the memes, which are great don't get me wrong, this game is extremely fun to play with people you know and love. Can't wait for new content! And yes, map in lobby is going to be a great feature!
@GsPandem you mean metal gear rising revengeance?
@Royalblues They have a name
"Automatic game error reporting"
Nintendo Switch already does this whenever a game crashes if it is connected to internet it sends crash logs to devs
@GsPandem that’s Metal Gear Rising Revengence.
Wish they could port that game to Switch
@GsPandem Back in 2015, the fans were wanting a game titled Iron Cog. It never had a solid, definitive three word title though.
I also think you're underselling how popular the NES game was in the West, with it selling a million units in the US alone, and was the second best selling game of October 1988 behind Super Mario Bros 2, according to Wikipedia that is. Sure, it's no 7 Million copies like the PS1 game, but without the original game being popular in the west, perhaps it would have sold less, needing to introduce the genre rather than expand upon it.
And just to add a bit to the legacy of the NES game, copied and pasted from Wikipedia: The NES version of Metal Gear was ranked the 104th best game made on a Nintendo System in Nintendo Power's Top 200 Games list.[37] GamesRadar ranked it the sixth-best NES game ever made, and the staff felt that it popularized its genre.[38] In 1997 Electronic Gaming Monthly named the NES version the 35th best console video game of all time, citing "how you have to think like a spy to win, which means you don't always have to fight."[39] Game Informer placed the game 53rd on their top 100 video games of all time praising the game’s stealth aspects and dramatic plot.[40]
I haven’t dabbled with Among Us for some time… but I feel that while still occasionally cool with strangers, this game is exponentially more fun with groups of people you know and with voicechat i.e. Discord (as you can better gauge when/if they’re lying or not based on knowing their personalities, tendencies, queues etc.).
I’m interested to see the concept and game mechanics as a whole innovated & expanded upon more comprehensively to grow the genre… and also maybe in more 3D adaptations?
… Wun can only hope.
Also… I've played Among Us on mobile and Switch and def prefer it on Switch with a controller. The tasks are mostly fine to adjust to.
The only real big hinderance is typing, which is obviously wayyy more efficient on mobile... and that can be critical difference when you need to defend yourself in the discussion chat in a timely manner lol (by the time you’ve typed one defence sometimes you’ve already been accused 7 times and the jury has already decided your fate). It helps they've added quick canned phrases, but typing on Switch will never be as efficient as mobile unless they integrated mobile & Switch controllers (which is a far cry pipe dream).
Would be nice to see Among Us get some integrated voice chat for meetings only. Discord is a cool third party solution, but no so much when gaming with randoms. NSO App should be enabled for it for example, but that also mainly only lets you interact with your Switch friends list… something that should also be changed and expanded by Nintendo.
… Wun can only hope.
