A Nintendo Direct is presumably right around the corner (latest intel suggests it may be happening on June 29th) and everyone and their nan are currently bashing out a few predictions for what might be shown. With that in mind, we thought we'd share some, too! The editorial team has already presenting some of their own predictions, which you can check out right here, but now it's the turn of our beloved video team, who met up for real in real life for the first time ever... for real!
Yes that's right: Alex, Zion, and Felix finally got together to break bread, clink glasses, and share a few not-E3 Nintendo Direct predictions. Will we finally see some footage of Metroid Prime 4? What about the much-rumoured re-release of GoldenEye 007? Maybe Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally release? Be sure to check out the video below for all the juicy gossip and keep your eyes wide open for an extremely brief cameo from a few friends and colleagues!
What do you think will be shown at the upcoming Nintendo Direct that's definitely happening? Let us know in the comments!

I saw another site note that Nintendo has a shareholder's meeting on 29/6, so if there is a direct it will likely be before then so the announcements can affect the share price. Don't know if that's true, but it sounded reasonable.
I guess we will see about Goldeneye. If it isn’t mentioned in the Xbox Extended event, then will be announced by Nintendo.
It seems it is coming and even if they wait to release until August seems now is only time to announce beforehand

I hope we get Mario Party DLC. The next wave of MK8D will probably release straight after the direct plus news about Daisy in Strikers.
@Devann Removing comments are not done to make them false.
I get the feeling Nintendo arranged the direct away from not E3 so they could cut the Tree house down. Which is a shame because it was entertaining, but understandable because it was entertaining for being awkward and weird.
I think it will happen and that Nintendo steered away from E3 dates to get their own time in the sun / spotlights.
OR they'll reveal a new Switch iteration.
I could see Nintendo announcing the next mainline Fire Emblem game or another Echoes game along with a Zelda port and maybe Metroid Prime HD.
A new Fire Emblem would be awesome, but in all honesty, I'd be most hyped if they added GBA to NSO. That's what I'd really love to play on my Switch at the moment. And any news on Metroid Prime 4 would be great.
I am hoping the snes library gets updated with 3 new unpopular games that received below average review scores when they were first released. Maybe:
Aero the Acrobat 2
Rise of the Robots
Mario is missing
Three games that are sure to challenge even the most dedicated Nintendo fan to bother updating the app.
Breath of the Wild 2 (new footage) and Metroid 4 (some footage) and this will be the greatest direct in a long time.
Yeah, A direct isn't happening. Nintendo keeps releasing a large amount of trailers on Youtube and Twitter. And we already know most games releasing in the next 6 months.
@I_Go_by_Many_Names Given how good Kirby and the Forgotten Land is and how well it sold, hopefully it will open the door for more 3D platformers. DK has only had one, and Yoshi has had nothing so there’s lots to try.

I don't think there will be remakes of Ooa and Oos, because they where made by Capcom. You also sensed it in the artwork, very different from what Nintendo would produce. I think Nintendo thinks: "Its not made by us so its worthless".
Alex just got back from Hawaii?
Phantom Hourglass 3D remake in Windwaker HD engine.
@sanderev Do we? As far as I can tell the only thing from Nintendo with a confirmed release date past September is Pokémon. Unless I'm missing something?
A direct to sure up dates for Bayonetta and Mario and Rabbids makes sense. I think we will see one end of June/ start of July.
Those Persona ports announced at the Xbox presentations better be happening to the Switch as well. The PSP and Vita were weaker than the Switch, there is no reason not to put their games here at least.
@I_Go_by_Many_Names battle of olympus is basically Zelda 2 in Greece, and honestly I prefer it, much less fragmented.
Obviously that never happen
@Pillowpants @Joker1234
Don't you think it would be a little too early to announce a new Fire Emblem game just as they release an ambiguously canon spin-off? Nintendo rarely seems to ever overlap on their announcements, with the only case being Zelda games.

@ModdedInkling Well, this was a wild predictions topic. So why not?
In all honesty, I don't think they'll announce a FE games just yet. There's plenty of other stuff that should come out first that's long due!
@tyranny_life Their site, their rules.

@Strumpan Actually, no - our eyeballs and clicks make this site, or any other. Same for our money and any developer's games. If anyone's going to talk down to anyone around here, chief, let's get things straight.
Please Nintendo, bring those titles to Switch- most totally possible!!!!!!
-Zelda Anniversary Collection of Twilight Princess and Ocarina of time 3D remaster + Majora 3D and Wind Waker.
BOTW 2 gameplay
@ThroughTheIris56 Yoshi has had none? Did you forget about Yoshi’s Crafted World? Also, i don't really count DKC: TF since it’s a port
Astral Chain 2 or something similar from Platinum would be really great.
@Znake Great list.
I want a real F-zero so bad. tired of all these knock-offs that never seem to get things quite right. And hopefully it wouldn't be barebones either.
A new WaveRace would be killer!
A new Diddy Kong Racing would be incredible (it's one of the best mario karts ever)
how about an open world 3D Donkey Kong!!?
Advance Wars.
Games that 3rd party already announced through other streams (Xbox/PS).
More Mario movie info.
BOTW 2 info.
Pokémon games
Games that were already announced last Direct but giving us a reminder they are out this fall.
Mischief Makers on Switch, a Zelda dating sim and Links Crossbow Training 2. Dream big.
Donkey Kong and Madden Football…,
@tyranny_life yeah new Diddy Kong Racing would be amazing and totally agree with 3D DK. I remember how hyped I was for DK64 but it wasn’t as awesome as the original Banjo, even though I had a lot of fun with the game, so they should definitely do a 3D DK with the same efforts as they put into Mario Odyssey:)
@nymbosox Yoshi's crafted world is a 2.5D platformer. Nobody would mistake Crafted World for a Super Mario 64/Galaxy/3D World-esque affair.
My predictions...
Waluigi game!
You want outlandish predictions: Megaman X9!
My guess are these:
Not gonna happen but wouldn't mind seeing a new animal crossing related game.
Maybe time for the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters on Switch?
@Chlocean still counts as there is a lot of depth to that game, and Yoshi doesn’t do typical 3d platformers
If a Direct happens next week, that'd be PERFECT for me.
BUT knowing Nintendo, 5 minutes of the direct will be taken up by Nintendo saying "we're adding golf to Nintendo Switch Sports!!!!!!!"
Zelda, spring.
Mario movie, spring.
So obviously new console and new Mario spring too… called it
@Serpenterror switch pro isnt happening dood.
@Jey887 Indeed past September we only know about Pokémon and games that are coming early next year. Which means that we are going to get a September Direct.
Mario + Rabbits is published by Ubisoft, so no Direct for that. Bayonetta might get a Bayonetta Direct (not a general one)
@Znake upvoted for no NSO
Why has nobody metioned mario odysee 2 surely that has to come out soon !!!!!
But i would be happy with a BOTW 2 trailer
I'm predicting more Wii U and 3DS ports, and MK8 DLC of course. Very possible Bayonetta 3 info will be there, but it's going to be a 2023 game no doubt. I would like a new Star Fox game.
@Znake List fail as Pikmin 4 not mentioned. smh
I will go into total meltdown mode if Pikmin 4 announced. Mobile game, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, the writing is on the toilet!
What I want from a Nintendo Direct:
I’m not watching this and only clicked this to comment on Nintendo is getting exactly what they want out of this. Fans and internet YouTubers are all talking about it, Nintendo is notorious for being late to the party, and after all these other devs show off their stuff, Nintendo will have all eyes on whatever they may do. I personally think they waiting just for us to hype it for them.
Metroid Prime 4?
@nymbosox You can't change the definition of an entire genre. If Nintendo advertised Yoshi's Crafted World as a 3D platformer they could be sued for false advertising and that's what matters.
Pokemon Stadium 3 where all Pokemon from all games can battle with some mini games. We got a new Snap after 20 years, a man can dream.
@ModdedInkling I mean they normally release a new mainline game every 2-3 years so it would kinda make sense in a way. The first Fire Emblem Warriors and Echoes came out in the same year so Nintendo could be trying to do something similar again.
@Joker1234
That's true, and I completely forgot that FEW was also on the 3DS.
But you never know though with Nintendo. I could see them focusing on other franchises like Zelda and Metroid to switch things up a bit in the last half of the year to kinda give something for everyone.
I'm sold on the idea that there'll be a Silksong surprise drop, marking the first time a Nintendo Direct influences me to go turn on my Xbox...
@Henmii I would argue that the Capcom parts are indeed inferior to the Nintendo in-house Zeldas. Less original, more by-the-numbers. Still good games, and only they would lend themselves to a (very economical) reuse of this already developed, excellent 2D engine. 2D as in „game takes place on a 2D plane“. All other remaining un-remade Zelda games would need way more reworking.
Sadly the newest sales figures of LA Switch are over a year old, so we have no way of knowing if it was a success or just moderately so.
A brand new F-Zero with online and adventure mode where RPG elements and fighting takes place. Bounty hunter stuff.
@nymbosox It has depth mechanics, but it’s not a fully 3D game, so I’m not counting it. And I’m pretty DK’s last 3D Platformer was DK64.
@NintendoWife
Personally I do not think the Capcom Zelda's are inferior in any way, The minish cap is even one of my favorites.
That being said, if they use the artstyle of Link's awakening Switch I think they should use it for a totally new Zelda.
@Henmii Fair enough, I am aware that the Capcom Zeldas have a big fanbase. And regardless if they are my favourites or no I would be over the moon if Nintendo gave them modern re-release. Actually because I hardly know them I would be happy, I never finished Minish Cap but would surely stick with it this time around, if it got a gorgeous remake I could play on my TV.
As for new Zelda: Well of course, that's always the most desirable. But it's completely unrealistic, ahead of BOTW2 - actually it is unrealistic altogether because they wouldn't release it soon after BOTW2 either, and then we're already at the end of Switch's lifecycle. Won't happen this generation. Which is why people are pondering more realistic options like a stop-gap remake of an underrepresented classic game using an already existing engine.
@NintendoWife
A new top-down Zelda this year wouldn't be that unrealistic, maybe sporting the style of Link's awakening Switch. Nintendo could have a smaller team on that, or maybe Grezzo.
Botw2 will be next year and it could be a Switch2 launchtitle (or a dual release, Switch and Switch2). We are probably talking about March 2023, so that takes some time.
@Henmii
You mean BOTW2 will be a Switch2 launch title? Well not without another big delay, because so far there has been no word of Nintendo's next system. Even if they would announce it now they wouldn't release it next march. Switch or Wii U for example were announced 18-24 months ahead of their launch.
@NintendoWife
True, but I still have a feeling Switch2 is meant for March 2023. I think Switch2 was already meant for this year, but then the chips-shortage happened.
I remember the last time a Zelda got delayed because they had to do "special things", namely mirror the overworld and ad some waggle so they could justify Twilight princess also releasing on Wii.
If there only will be one version of Botw2 there better be a good reason for them to make us wait this long. It can't be only Covid, or Pokemon (Pokemon easily gets Nintendo through the holiday, it will sell big time). Had Nintendo to re-learn how to make dungeons? Did they decide halfway through the development to remove a remixed overworld for a totally new overworld? I hope the wait will be worth it.
