Nintendo has shared a short and shiny new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, showcasing the gorgeous world of Aionios.
At just a minute long, there's no drama, no character action, and no combat — just the sights and sounds of the game's stunning-looking world. From the monsters roaming it to the fauna, to familiar locations to giant mechs, Aionios looks like it'll have secrets to uncover, and we already don't want to leave. There's also that good ol' Territorial Rotbart standing loud and proud in the grasslands — we can't wait to run into him while severely under-levelled!
We've covered these areas in a bit more detail in separate posts, so if you want to find out where you'll be exploring next month, check these out:

Pre-orders for Xenoblade Chronicles 3's Special Edition open in North America sometime tomorrow, so if you want to make sure you get your feet on the ground early in Aionios — complete with some extra goodies — you better hop to it! The game drops on 29th July.
What do you think of the world of Aionios? Are you excited for Xenoblade Chronicles 3? Let us know!

I feel like I'm getting spoiled on info for this game lol.
This game will be amazing.
felt the comment would be more apt here
The environments feel as striking as ever in this, i especially like the forest with the ruined buildings.
i would say my main concern with it is whether or not it will hold up in handheld mode.
Bah, July is aaages away
I know I'm gonna get ratio'd to high heaven for my opinion, but here it goes. (sweats profusely)
I imagine a lot of the people who think the environments in this game look gorgeous think the ones in Sonic Frontiers look like garbage.
I honestly think they're pretty much on par with each other. I feel like if you modded Shulk into the world of Frontiers and said it was the new Xenoblade, the fandom would flip out over how beautiful it is. 😬
Okay, here are your rocks. I give you permission to stone me for my bad opinion. Just please be gentle--I bruise easily!
Ok then so leftover assets from XC2. Gotcha
I still haven't beaten 1, 2, Torna, or X, but man I can't wait to play this one!
Looks like Primordia and Bionis Leg had a baby.
I am blown away by that trailer and the soundtrack in it. This really makes me want to splurge the cash on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 since I never got the chance to play it.
The one thing that's been consistently perfect through the Xenoblade games is the map design. Can't wait for another huge world to explore.
@Not_Soos
I don’t think that the problems most people have with the environments in Sonic are to do with the aesthetics being ugly, more that 1) the realistic natural environments and the cartoon hedgehog seem jarring when put together and 2) the topography doesn’t seem appropriate for a platformer.
@Not_Soos Not gonna throw stones because I think that this opinion is dead on. My first thought when I saw the Frontiers gameplay was how similar the world design feels to Xenoblade and the Gaur Plains.
THAT SAID...I think Xeno has far more character to it. The world feels far more lived in, the points of interest feel more natural...it doesn't have a blue hedgehog running around a fairly realistic world...
Looks incredible, as have the previous areas they've shown. Monolith Soft are great at making these environments.
@Not_Soos I actually think the world in Sonic Frontiers looks pretty good, graphically. It's just not the style I'd want from a Sonic game. I'd still say Xenoblade's map design is more interesting, but that's probably because they can put in a lot of smaller geographical details without worrying about messing up the player's momentum.
Kinda over this series from the direction its been going. I know I'm in the minority but I thought 2 was a train wreck. Bland environments, dumb character designs, and terrible technical performance. Gonna have to wait and see on this one.
@iLikeUrAttitude Totally feel you on this one. Since the release date trailer dropped in April, I've tried to avoid most media and trailers about Xenoblade 3. I'm more hype for this game than Zelda BOTW 2.
Day one buy definitely.
So no #NintendoE3 huh?
#NintendoInDirect?
It looks so good! I just hope it doesn't look blurry in handheld mode, like XC2... Torna looked good enough, I'd be happy with that.
Not watching. I'm on spoiler embargo until the game is in my hands.
Really excited for this and trailer looks good but I can't help but think this trailer is further evidence of no general Direct.
@clockworktwink not at all
@Not_Soos just don't expect anyone to ever depend on you for being able to discern obvious differences between things, or notice the finer details. Pretty bad take.
@Not_Soos Frontiers looks good, it’s just the design elements of Sonic, his new enemies, and the world clash too much atm. I think it could be mitigated by tweaking some lighting effects and color saturation. It doesn’t help SEGA’s case that while Xeno showed off multiple environments, even in their first trailer, while Frontiers only showed off the same island in the teaser and gameplay trailers
It looks great for a Switch game, but having a PS5 for about a month now. This just falls so short of games like Horizon Forbidden West.
But yeah, the PS5 does indeed spoil you. I still am looking forward to play this on the Switch
@Travelguy38 denial.
This area looks eerily similar.
I feel like I have been in some of those locations before...
@invictus4000 I mean you said it, not me lol. You’re definitely in the minority but your opinion is still valid. 2 was a huge step up in every way from 1 though especially in story, world development/exploration and combat, and 3 is combining aspects of all Xeno games (even hints of X and some things from Torna/Future Connected) so at this rate, you’d have to just outright dislike the series to not like what’s going on in 3. It didn’t just happen to earn the “one more thing” slot in a Nintendo Direct over a Mario game. Gonna be huge
This looks like a Xenoblade game
That is one bloody big baboon.
@clockworktwink Cringe
Denial smh lol
@Tyranexx You're probably safe on this one. I've been skipping all the Japanese posts, but this just has a couple monsters and nice landscapes from areas we've already seen in other trailers.
@Not_Soos the graphics and world look okay in Frontiers, it's just that Sonic looks off compared to XC characters in that environment (imo, anyway). It might turn out to be great, for all we know.
@Anachronism Hmm....I might chance this one in that case then. Or devise a way to put myself into cryogenic sleep until July 29th! XD
Looks good but pretty repetitive tbh. So long as the music is just as good. But too bad you'll still have to run around the whole 100+ hours as those awful character designs
Generally don’t believe in pre-ordering but Monolithsoft haven’t let me down since Nintendo acquired them and it’s £39.85 at Shopto right now. Pre-ordered
@Not_Soos These look intersting and full of life while the ones in Sonic look empty and ruined by random floating rails, out of place puzzles and boost pads.
@clockworktwink Imagine a sequel looking like the game before it.
I bet you also believe GoW Ragnarok looks like DLC?
Good. Glad u agree with me. Thx!
Woah woah wait a minute. Aionos is a separate titan or the name of the entire world? Basically, both imply either a separated or interconnected open world gameplay.
The lighting is looking very impressive and contrasted here, even more so than in the previous gameplays. I honestly prefer the look of this trailer.
And for some reason one tweet about this was eliminated I think? If there was no reason then nevermind that...
@clockworktwink nope
@Travelguy38 it’s cool. You’re in denial.
@clockworktwink no
