As rumoured earlier this week, Microsoft has revealed an action-strategy Minecraft spin-off, and it's called Minecraft Legends. Check out the trailer above, as featured in the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022.
The game is scheduled for a 2023 release on Xbox consoles and PC, and the PlayStation and all-important Nintendo Switch logos featured at the end of the trailer, too, so Legends will be present on all major platforms.
Here are some details on the game from the Youtube description:
Discover the mysteries of Minecraft Legends, our upcoming action strategy game. Explore a familiar yet mysterious land, full of diverse life, lush biomes, and rich resources. But this paradise is on the brink of destruction. The piglins have arrived – and they’re threatening to corrupt the Overworld. Inspire unexpected friends to form valuable alliances and lead them in strategic battles to protect their home. Take the fight to the piglins before their Nether corruption devours the Overworld!
No release date was revealed, but every game in the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase is scheduled to launch in "the next 12 months".

It looks really nice. I hope it runs well on Switch.
I’m keeping my eye on this one
Wow, wasn’t expecting this this soon. I thought it was going to be revealed in a few months at the earliest. Looks good though
Another interesting
Minecraft spin-off that will have support for a year or two and then all the interesting & cool ideas that they think of will never be used in base Minecraft. I hope people enjoy this game, it’s personally not for me, but it’s always so disappointing seeing these interesting concepts never get used in base game.
@Goat_FromBOTW it looks exciting. I am keeping my eye on this one
Arceus has got competition apparently.
@Fizza what does Arceus have to do with Legends?
Arceus is a RPG.
Legends is a RTS or strategy game.
Completely different
@anoyonmus The name?
@Fizza ok the name is similar but slightly different.
Minecraft Legends vs Pokémon Legends Arceus.
That’s all. And it isn’t competition anyway. Ones an RPG another one is a RTS
I was hoping Mojang was making Mafia 4 : (
God, this makes me so happy. When I heard "Minecraft RTS" I was thinking of something a lot more standard, but this has shattered every one of my expectations in the best way possible. God, this looks so good, and like it might finally be able to scratch that specific non-standard rts itch that I've had since playing Little King's Story and Lego Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the Wii. Just please, let this game be good. That's all I want.
...the fruits of Phil Spencer & Nintendo being friendly. I have no problem with that.
This looks really cool!
Hopefully the switch port won’t have any crashing problems like with dungeons.
I liked the “From the makers of Minecraft” like it wasn’t going to be a Minecraft game.
Wanted banjo not more Minecraft
Admittedly still don't get the appeal of Minecraft personally as I played it once and got bored very quickly, but it's nice to see the series doing so well regardless and seeing so many people enjoying it. Hoping this turns out well for all you Minecraft fans!
I'm not too big of a Minecraft person but this honestly looks pretty good. Definitely gonns pay attention for the future
@anoyonmus @fizza I think both are beat by Legend of Legacy.
@Wilforce Touché.
Hey, it actually looks pretty good.
Ngl this seems like something that I don't need to get friends to have fun unlike normal minecraft.
Though I wonder why Mojang put this out in the Xbox show because they have their own livestream this month. This seems like a game for mostly minecraft fans, not Xbox users.
@Uska
Because Microsoft owns mojang
Maybe I’m stupid but for a split second I actually thought this was going to be something more like an MMO. Anyways, I’m sure I get a bit of a kick out of this one. I enjoyed dungeons quite a bit and Minecraft spin-offs tend to be good multiplayer/single player fun.
@blindsquarel right. Forgot that part, easily slips my mind when I usually play it on the playstation.
@Greatluigi
Dungeons has never crashed on my Switch one time
While watching the video I was thinking, "What is MatPat on Game Theory going to make of this with all the theories he has done for MInecraft Lore."
@steventonysmith wait really?
When I played the trial the game crashed on me in the middle of a dungeon.
@Greatluigi
I bought the game at launch, played all of it's DLC and it runs flawless, have never had it crash
@steventonysmith maybe they patched it?
