Nintendo could potentially have some exciting content planned for its free-to-download mobile racer, Mario Kart Tour.
A recent datamine by game developer Koopavocelot (via kart_tour) suggests Battle Mode courses may be added to the game in the near future. In the most recent Tour update, multiple sound files for Battle Mode tracks have been spotted.
These include sound files for GCN Cookie Land, DS Twilight House, Tour Paris Promenade, New York Minute and GBA Battle Course 1.
While sound files don't necessarily guarantee anything related to a Battle Mode will be released in the future, this is definitely an interesting development for the mobile version of Mario Kart.
Along with this, it also seems Battle Mode balloons could be made available as rewards - similar to karts, gliders, and characters, with evidence of "at least" 20 new items.

could just be modified battle mode tracks that you do normal races on
@CodyMKW This article left out several other details, like different balloons being added to the gacha pool, the addition of the Feather item, and some other stuff pertaining to Battle Mode specifically
So, is Nintendo going to focus all their resources on the MK8 dlc or on Mk Tour? Because I'm afraid that dividing the dev team up is only going to cause more Mario Sports levels of rush and that's something I'm sure we all don't want to see.
Given how limited the steering and handling is... I doubt this will control well....
This app is now my only game on phones, it is so good and it sounds like it is getting even greater updates soon
@PBandSmelly Entirely possible, though datamined content indicates that battle mode controls will at least let you turn around (auto accelerate remains, though)

Mario kart tour gets better and better.
Just makes me wish you could play Double Dash on Switch. That game has by far the best battle mode in series history IMO. Imagine online play on top of that masterpiece.
A battle mode would be quite awesome, though I'm not sure how well it would work if you can't stop your car
It would feel good and awesome to have a Battle course in Mario kart tour.
