Tamers, get ready! Publisher Humble Games has announced that Crema's long-awaited Pokemon-like, Temtem, is launching on Switch on 6th September. The game released in Early Access on the PlayStation 5 in December 2020, so we'll soon get to find out if the nearly-two year wait has been worth it.
Temtem is a monster-collecting game that you can play alone or with friends. Play through the story by yourself and tame your Temtems, or join your friends online and play with them. You'll get to explore the Airborne Archipelago, a kaleidoscopic collection of islands full to bursting with interesting creatures.
Humble Games shared a brand new gameplay trailer celebrating the announcement, along with some details on what's coming to the game beyond launch, in its press release:
Temtem is a massively multiplayer creature-collection adventure where players seek adventure in the lovely Airborne Archipelago alongside their Temtem squad. Players can catch every Temtem, battle other tamers, customize their house, join a friend's adventure or explore the dynamic online world.
Key Features:
1. Story Campaign: Journey across six vivid islands and embark on the adventure of becoming a Temtem tamer while fighting against the evil Clan Belsoto.
2. Online World: The days of traveling solo are over; in Temtem the world is a massively multiplayer one. Tamers from around the world can join and you will be able to see them around you, living the adventure with you and fighting to become the best Temtem tamer.
3. Co-Op Adventure: You will be able to join forces with a friend any time and work together towards your next goal. Catch new Temtem, complete a Route, or face off against a Temtem Leader; all while fighting alongside your friend in dual battles!
4. Housing: Buy your own house at Atoll Row and decorate it your way. Buy new furniture, color your walls and you’ll be ready to invite your friends over!
5. Customize: Customize your character to stand out from the crowd and get new cosmetics while you battle other tamers. Pick a silly hat, a comfy sweatshirt, some pants and you’re ready to go! Or maybe you prefer to wear a full-on cosplay of your favorite Temtem?
6. Competitive: Start by choosing 8 Temtem and the pick and ban phase will begin. Take turns with your rival to pick your Temtem and ban theirs. When all the decisions are made and the turns are ended, you will end up with a squad of 5 Temtem and the battle will begin.
New Features Coming to Temtem at Launch:
1. Seasons: After the launch of 1.0, we’ll release seasonal updates and a Battle Pass with free and premium awards tracks.
2. Endgame Island: The final island will be added, completing the Airborne Archipelago. This island will feature new activities through which you can test yourself as a Temtem tamer, new places to shop, and new areas to explore with friends.
3. New quests: Engage in weekly quests, which will be updated regularly post-launch.
Switch pre-orders currently aren't open, but a Digital Deluxe edition — but a Digital Deluxe version will be available, which comes with a handful of lovely cosmetic bonuses.
Are you ready to tame Temtems come 6th September? Let us know!

Oooooh I have been keeping an eye on this and the fact you can play offline is a massive bonus!
Though that battle pass is a bit worrying.
Hopefully it’s just cosmetics.
'1.0' is basically a death sentence for buying the physical lol.
@Greatluigi rereading the announcement and coverage from other sites, it doesn't strictly say the game is playable offline, so I may have misinterpreted it! I've changed this in the story. Sorry to get your hopes up 😅 totally my bad there.
I'm sure this will sell 60 million copies and Nintendo will just stop selling Pokémon immediately.
Anyway, this looks fine.
I feel like it's too late now. It would've brought a ton of people while the game was still relatively new, but now it seems interest for it basically died out entirely.
Not for me, the designs just feel bland compared to Pokémon and the Pokémon themselfs is a big reason why I follow the franchise.
I HAD been interested in this way back...before it released on PC, etc. Now, I've still got mild interest, but that's even now tempered even further by a season pass put it. So its a paid for game, with a paid for season pass in it? Those generally make me want to shy away. If it was FTP with a season pass, I can understand that. But...a continuous paid for season pass on top of the cost of the software...and I'd imagine a cash shop built in as well? I don't know... I'll have to see more as it gets closer to launch.
Why does it have a premium season pass? Has this game gone free to play?
I love Pokémon clones because I just love the genre that much, but this one was genuinely bad.
Pokemon constant release schedule takes up enough of my time as is. I don't want to play anything that promotes itself as a clone of something better.
I had high hopes for this one because Crema made Immortal Redneck(a solid title that felt like a roguelike Serious Sam), but my interested went away when they revealed it was always online/an MMO.
@itslukec don't think so on steam it's $41.99 don't get why they would want to add a battle pass with a premium and free track unless they wanted to go free to play in the future 🤔
@Highlar it's marketed as a MMO with no subscription. So just like Guild Wars 2 and other non sub MMO they need to make money somewhere up keep updating/maintaining servers
@itslukec no but it's a mmo with no subscription. Have to make money to keep servers online and maintain updates.
Took a lot longer than I would have liked, but I'm still super excited to play this. Had a friend who was all about getting it when it was first revealed. He has sadly since passed away so I really want to see it through for him.
This looks like trash. And with Pay To Win mechanics. Yeah, no thanks.
“Online World”
Thanks, but no thanks. I do not have time nor the patience to play online games (with the exception of pubg mobile every now and then), at least not games that require a lot of time and commitment form my part. “Online World” is an awful concept (for me).
Make a massive offline world and you’ll get all my attention; until then, there are many Pokémon clones (and Pokémon itself) that worth trying/replaying.
@Ara
Have it on the PC and played about 30 Hours, you do not have to interact with anyone (at least i didn't ).
Imagine Pokemon Red/Blue, but you see some Players running around.
Oh yes! Forgot about this game, will buy it on steam.
Been watching this one, and now it gets a physical edition. Sweet!
@AlanaHagues ....dang.
@Azuris Good to know, thanks for the heads up!
Had me at online world. Had me saying nope, that is.
Meh I rather stick with Nexomon.
Wow! Just wow! It has improved SO MUCH since it was announced. It looks really good!
Ok, now it's one of my anticipated games.
"but a Digital Deluxe edition — but a Digital Deluxe version will be available"
So nice, you had to say it twice, lol?
