We can imagine that one of the most fun things about being a video game composer (except, you know, writing music for a video game) is the variety of projects you'll get to work on. One time you might be writing music for a cyberpunk action-adventure game, then your next project might be a cute and cuddly platformer.
Today, we have Octopath Traveler composer Yasunori Nishiki to thank for a pair of unlikely projects. Most famous for making his solo composer debut on the Square Enix's HD-2D RPG, he has gone on to provide compositions for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake, but he has another credit in his deck that might surprise you.
In a recent update, the free-to-play Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has added in the credits, letting you see and praise all of the people who worked on that game. And Yasunori Nishiki's name is right there! The composer confirmed the news on Friday on Twitter.
Many fans of his work and Yu-Gi-Oh! have been praising the composer, and many are likely discovering Nishiki's stunning work on other games as a result. What's really adorable is that Nishiki has been responding to fans on the social media platform.
One user wanted to know when the soundtrack to Master Duel will be released, and while Nishiki is obviously not in charge of this, he did have a very lovely reply.
That's someone we absolutely want to get a cup of coffee with at some point! Even before Nishiki broke the news, fans have been going crazy over the game's music, with many saying it "slaps", and we can only agree with a pedigree like Nishiki on board.
Drop us a comment if you've listened to the music of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel!

I love how enthusiastic this article is! That made me smile on a difficult Monday morning. I will try to be more enthusiastic too!
Ha ha. Love the traditional Yu-gi-oh stuff myself.
Interesting article
Your opponent starts milling through their deck to find Exodia and all of a sudden, you start hearing this:

As a huge Yu-Gi-Oh fan and a fan of the up and coming composers of I am Setsuna and the one from Octopath Traveler this is awesome news.
The music in the game is great but felt way different than other Yu-Gi-Oh games, so I was curious who the composer was. Big deal for him to get this gig.
Also hope for a physical release of the soundtrack, its great.
Edit: The composer of I Am Setsuna and the Tiny Metal Duology will also compose Digimon Survive, can't wait to hear that soundtrack!
@Ooyah Haha, we try our best! I hope your day gets better!
No charts recently @NintendoLife? I understand last Monday was a bank holiday but no updates today, nor last week’s Japanese charts?
@AmplifyMJ UK charts have been delayed, apologies on that one! Not much we can do when the data isn't there, but we'll get it sorted the moment they come in.
After Octopath, Nishiki has become one of my favorite composers. He has a bright future ahead of him.
@Damo no apologies necessary, just curious! I always enjoy the weekly sales data
It takes a masterful composer to make going second against Drytron bearable
