Kao the Kangaroo is just a week away as we write this, a long overdue follow-up / reboot in the 3D action platforming series. A big emphasis is on bopping foes with Kao's fists, and it's sure to tempt some Switch owners when it arrives on 27th May.
It's coming to the eShop and at retail, but now publisher Tate Multimedia has confirmed that it's teaming up with Just For Games on a 'Kaollector Edition'. It'll be limited to 5000 copies and have various goodies included, with more details to be revealed later; it's planned to ship Q4 this year, so there'll be a bit of a wait. Here's some confirmation from Twitter in addition to the press release below.
Limited to 5000 pieces, it will include the one and only figurine of Kao, available on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and Xbox One in Q4 2022.
- World Premiere! A 15cm bobble-head model of Kao the Kangaroo ! It’s the first time Kao has its own figure... and it’s wiggling!

I want the Standard PS5 version of Kao the Kangaroo. 😃
How is Kao pronounced? I thought it was KAY -OH, like, KO because of the boxing gloves. But now I am not too sure.
They've sabotaged themselves here, physical pre-orders for the standard edition have been available for months already.
Always launch your collector's edition pre-orders alongside your standard editions, not after. Also, preferably not before, you'll just get ire and resentment.
@GrailUK It's definitely pronounced like KO, I think the devs confirmed it a few months ago
I know I have been hard on this game for its similarities to crash 4, but I would gladly get this at like 30 dollars.
@blindsquarel You're aware the standard version of the game will launch at 30 dollars, yes?
@Not_Soos
Uhhhhhh, yes, yes I am fully aware of that.
Will this game get a physical release in the us or is it digital only?
@Greatluigi
Probably the game have USA version as it was shown from this trailer.

Certificate of authenticity..lol as if there were fake Kao collections going around?
@GrailUK
Yeah its probably pronounced like that now that you mention it. I always pronounced it like CA-O (like your gonna say cat without the t and then just say the letter o). I can't believe I never noticed the obvious pun and that I was pronouncing it wrong.
This game looks great and all but I want Rayman to come back to 3d platformers. Come on, Rayman 4 make it happen.
@zap-switch It's my most anticipated game since Gex!
Feel bad for the peeps who already paid for pre-orders for the standard but want the bobblehead...
@NotArmani
It'd be cool to see Gex comeback too. And Pacman World and Ty the Tiger and Banjo Kazooie and Rocket Robot on Wheels. I mean the list goes on I love 3d platformers.
