Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is the latest entry to Inti Creates' line of action-platformers, scheduled for release on July 28th. We've now received some details on a rather swish looking physical edition from Limited Run Games.
With pre-orders open right now, the edition comes packed with a standard copy of the game (we should hope so!), a 2-disc official soundtrack, an official art book, and a 'Dogvolt' keychain, and will cost you a total of $79.99. Of course, if you'd rather just grab yourself the standard physical game, that may be a bit kinder on your wallet at $39.99.
In the meantime, here's a look at the story from the description on Limited Run's website:
In the near-future, humanity awoke to a new power known as "Septima." Humans with this power became known as "Adepts," and steadily increased in numbers as new Adepts were born. An organization of these Adepts, "Eden," attempted to secure their supremacy over the world, only to have their ambitions ended at the hands of Gunvolt. However, at the end of countless battles, Gunvolt found himself unwillingly evolved to a new power beyond Septimas. Shadow Yakumo, a secretive sister organization of the Sumeragi Group, eventually caught wind of the birth of his next level power. Shadow Yakumo then ordered their battle priestess Kirin to stop Gunvolt's awakening by sealing him with her Septima, Radiant Fetters.
You can also pick up the first two Azure Striker Gunvolt games via the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack on Switch. We loved this release, giving it an 8/10 in our review of the collection.

I feel anything above LRG's standard editions is overpriced trash. $80 for what I judge to be about $10-worth of swag? Hard pass.
@Magician I agree about the price tiers. I want the soundtrack but I don’t know if it’s worth $40. I don’t see the other collectibles to be worth it.
Limited Ripoff Games. Awful prices. Give us a normal retail release, ffs, cut the costs and eliminate the shipping, thanks.
That keyring is just pure tat.
I love art books, but a lot of them bundled with the game just turn out to be nothing more than a 40~ page superficial tease of the art work. I miss the days where Journey's meaty art book detailing every step of development was more the norm.
@Ulysses yes, it’s all just filler to push the price up. The stuff in the artbooks that Limited Run usually put out are just images you can find in a quick Google search. All the extras are just Christmas cracker quality tat.
I hope the game has an English dub like Luminous Avenger iX 2
Did Luminous Avenger only ever got a physical release in Asia?
@Bobb No, LRG handled the western release of Luminous Avenger as well. https://limitedrungames.com/products/gunvolt-chronicles-luminous-avenger-ix-switch-preorder
Couldn't imagine spending $80 on this.
@Magician Ooph, that's sad
Thank you for the info, though
hmmm no PS4/5 version? hmmm I get the game is only on switch, but I really don't own these games on my switch. LRG makes things tough though.
$40 extra for a CD, artbook and keychain 🤣
Collector edition. You fill your closet, they get more profit. Win-win
“Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 Gets An Awesome Physical Edition From Limited Run”
Preorder now and get your copy a year from now when you don’t even care about the game anymore! They really should rename themselves “Unlimited Suck Games” or something along those lines…
Love it. Already pre-ordered.
For people ragging on LRG, this is the market we've allowed publishers and gamers to create by ceding control to a largely digital marketplace. As a result, if we want physical media, this is the option. If people wanted more control over prices and options for physical media, we shouldn't have let the digital genie get SO far out of the lamp.
Given that reality, I'm really grateful companies like LRG even exist at all to provide the options they do. And for people complaining about the wait time, I don't know about y'all, but my backlog is long enough to keep me busy until long after I receive my LRG orders. ^_^
@Chocobo_Shepherd I've used LRG plenty of times and love the service. Plus yes, my backlog is like 70 games or so, lol
