Video: Let's Talk About Xenoblade Chronicles 3

With XC1 and XC2 stories taking place in the same universe yet different dimensions, it makes me wonder how XC3 will pull all the story threads together?

I'm hoping the storytelling is better than Xenoblade 2's, even by jrpg standards it was a confusing mess. That and the Nopon sexbot stuff, can probably be left on the cutting room floor.

I'd love a proper sequel to Xenoblade X.

Long time NLife YouTube viewer here. I have always enjoyed the channel and I thought Alex has been responsible for a lot of that. Zion has always fitted in well and while I didn't like Jon much he was far from unwatchable. However, I just have to say Felix doesn't do it for me at all to the point I just skip over a lot of these videos now. I think he is probably a great editor and creator in his own right but he just doesn't seem to fit the Nlife dynamic and is better suited to doing his own stuff. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

@RupeeClock help me out here as its been ages since I played them but did we ever see any mention of Ouroboros in the first two games?? As a name it just seems really familiar but I can't think from where or in what context.

So I say this as someone who regularly enjoys watching/listening to NLife's YouTube, but this video really should have followed in the footsteps of the Chrono Trigger episodes and brought on someone with a bit more familiarity with the series.

I'm happy to know that Alex and Felix are excited for XC3 (as am I), and its clear that there is a lot of community interest in the impending release (as evidenced by the engagement generated by the recent articles about XC3 on this website); but neither Alex nor Felix seem like they have more than a passing familiarity with the Xenoblade series, and as a result this video doesn't really add much to the overall discourse about XC3

I just get totally absorbed by Xenoblade games. Looking forward to learning the new battle system. The music sounds lush. I love the weaponised flock of birds idea. They haven't really shown much in the way of landmarks yet but I'm sure we will get a deep dive into this game nearer release.

The game looks amazing and I can't wait to play it.
My biggest concern though is the performance, this game looks even more ambitious than XC2 with possibly a bigger world and more party members on screen.
I hope the framerate is stable.

Funny enough was going to get it at launch but now probably won't due to them moving it up. Kind of a busy time for me between Three Hopes, Nirvana Initiative, and needing to renew my Gamepass so I'll probably get Xenoblade 3 closer to when it would've come out to begin with.

@bluemage1989 I liked Jon, but I agree about Felix. The content isn't bad and he's quite likable, but there is something that bothers me. First, it feels like the targeted audience is around 5 years old.

And I think there is an issue with Felix's half British/half Irish fake accent. I don't know, it seems like some sounds are missing and I can barely understand a thing. I'm not native English speaker, but I can understand British, Scottish, Irish, American, Canadian without any problem and even Indian or Chinese speaking English to an extent, but I can't understand Felix... Well, I still have 2/3 of NL YouTube to enjoy.

@Wargoose I've heard a lot of differing complaints about Xenoblade 2, but I can't see how the story is confusing in the slightest. Certainly not a mess.

@Lyricana my issue was I played for about 90 hours and couldn't really tell you what the villains motivations were. It just didn't give me much of a reason to care. It felt like there was going to be a twist, that made all the vague villain conversations make sense. The trouble is its a 140 hour plus game. I don't fancy playing it twice just to make sense of half the dialogue. I personally don't have that kind of time anymore.

@Rhaoulos like you say I have no doubts he is a good guy and I do think he is good at what he does I just don't think what he does best and what Nlife does best are both the same thing. I could see him presenting a shorter scripted news segment and that working well but a lot of the best stuff they do is either longer, unscripted or more in depth. To be fair I imagine even Alex would cringe a bit at his earlier stuff but what people expect from a channel of this size is very different to one that is just starting out.

@Wargoose I hear your complaint and it makes more sense to me know what you meant. I would say though that maybe you spent too much time with other content in the world, which at least for me.. can make the narrative feel murkier when you're going days/weeks between salient plot points and putting 140+ hours into it. I say this because you can actually tackle the campaign in 40-50 hours without much fuss if you aren't off exploring, side questing, etc.

And I know that's easier said than done some times, because I struggle between the pull to keep the narrative rolling vs my desire to wander and quest. I don't do well with super long games so I try to stick to the main stuff more than anything, but I also get caught up in wandering sometimes and burn myself out. Anyway, it could totally not be this, but there are a few games I didn't enjoy a lot on the first playthrough and I enjoyed much more later when I stuck to a more directed, narrative push.

@DJDM totally agree, in fact I was just about to comment something very similar. To the effect of: it might have been a better idea to get two people with a bit more than a passing familiarity of the series to have a chat about the impact of a 3rd sequel, in fact.
I like Alex's work and I enjoy a lot of what he does, but this video was a mess.
