Following on from last week's Tetris 99 update, Nintendo has now announced a brand new themed event. Sure enough, it's one based on the recent Switch release, Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
This event will begin later this week on 22nd April and will run through until 25th April. If you decide to join in on the fun, you'll be able to unlock a special Kirby theme.
"To participate, any Nintendo Switch Online member* just needs to play the Tetris 99 online mode during the event period. Players will earn event points based on their placement in each match. Once players have accumulated a total of 100 event points, a new theme will unlock, featuring background art, music and Tetrimino designs inspired by the Kirby and the Forgotten Land game."
In addition to this, previous Kirby themes will also be available for one in-game ticket each until 30th April. This includes the themes for Kirby Fighters 2 and Super Kirby Clash:

Thought it was really odd they didn't do one for Kirby. Better late than never.
Glad this game isn't dead, like some people seemed to think after the last update for some reason. SamusHunter predicted a Kirby theme for this month, though I know a lot of people don't trust her sources. I hope that alongside this, they'll add back in the themes that I missed. I need the Bowser's Fury one and--especially--Super Mario All-Stars!
I thought you meant a Theme for the Switch Home Screen for a sec which would have been nice rather than an in game Theme. Speaking of Kirby and the Forgotten Land I've just rescued all Waddle Dees in World 3 and Jesus Christ the 3rd boss's missions, the leopard where you have to beat her in 1:40 and take no damage almost had me raging. Still a charming game to play though with lovely relaxing music.
I love remixes of old Kirby songs in modern games and that Vs Dedede easily takes the gold. Glad they went with it
@RubyCarbuncle the final and secret final Bosses in their respective stadium cups are much, much worse.
@PokemonDMG Yeah I saw a guy fighting them on YouTube. I like a good challenge post game with Kirby but obviously if done incorrectly I can quickly lose interest.

Music choices are a bit odd - the Masked Dedede remix for the final 10 is an excellent pick, but Welcome to the New World doesn't strike me as a song that works particularly well for Tetris and Running Through the New World doesn't fit the 50 players left phase that well - but I'm still going to get this theme lol
And just after my 7 day trial had expired. Grrr...

Been a while since we got one of these! I wish we also got Nintendo-themed events for Pac-Man 99. Would be cool to see Mario chased by Boos in a board or Samus by Metroids.
I could've sworn I remember someone in the forums saying it was odd how we never got a Kirby theme when FL came out. Well here you go I guess!

The Kirby event was fun. Love how the music changes as people get eliminated.
