Ok, I'll play them if they go on sale this Thursday for say, 20 bucks for both of them?

Would be the perfect time for a sale then?

Bung them on the cartridge for 3 then and I will.

60 for two games is fine even with no sale.. Also great games. Can't wait for 3rd one!!!

Fantastic games.

I have them both but still need to properly play them. I did make a start on the first twice but never really got far before other games grabbed my attention.

Started with and loved 2. Went back to 1 and couldn't get into it, but if 3 builds off of 2, we'll be a-okay

I love the Bayonetta games but found the story to be pure nonsense
I doubt the third will be any different

It gives some hope that we get some news on 3rd today on direct Maybe gameplay or even release date.

@steizgr8 Same. Played both games twice and on a third playthrough of the first. Storytelling is not one of the strong points of these games.

Let’s be honest, the story wasn’t great for the first two games. Bit of a slog. The gameplay itself is a lot of fun.

Playing Bayonetta for the story is probably the video game equivalent of "I read Playboy for the articles!"

I'm waiting for the Trilogy

For some reason I put off playing them. I love the over the top action, played the first one a fair bit, but these games are the ones I pick up every now and then and then something else comes along. I really should dust those old two off and play them on my Wii U sometime soon...

i owned the first game on PC, but never got a chance to play yet (due to spending more time on other games.) but with the third game now coming out next year, that will probably change soon.

That's the plan, but still haven't played #2, despite owning a Wii U and the game since near launch. I got a bit hung up on the first being something I wanted to re-play first to relive all the craziness, play more competently and better get my head around and just failed to do that?

I played the first one and enjoyed it. Never got around to the second, though. Couldn't seem to make the time to fit it in

@kupocake I did exactly the same thing, and still have yet to play the Wii U version despite buying the double pack. I played the first game on PS3, reputedly the worst version, but I loved it.

That really makes a lot of sense from a story telling standpoint. No one wants to be spoiled on something and unlike a certain other dev/publisher (Sega/Atlus cough cough) the previous games leading to it are on the Switch.

That's a really dumb advice. If people play the first two Bayonetta now, they would be burned out and won't buy the third one.

It would be a lot better if they had the first game on the cartridge instead of a download code. And I can't be bothered to dust off the Wii U (I'm not even sure where it is)

The first two games are worth playing. I think the story was better in Bayo 1, but Bayo 2 really nailed the gameplay. This sounds like Bayonetta 3 would be better for those who know the reoccurring characters along with a rough idea of past events.

I guess I might do myself an injustice then. No plans on buying the 1st or 2nd unless there is a nice sale.

Completed both not too long ago. They were ok but i was happy to have finished both by the end. Dragged on a bit for my liking and i wouldnt want to play through them again. The first especially. Storyline is pure batshit crazy.

Bayonetta 2 for sure. Excellent game. First one though is pretty sloppy with the quick time events. Still fun but annoying at certain points. I think starting at 3 would be fine though as far as story concerns go. I've played both and honestly the only thing I could tell you about the story is that Bayonetta is witch...and that's kind of it. The story is not what you want to play Bayonetta for.

I remember playing the first one a long-ass time ago, on PS3. Bayo 2 I barely touched. Do both of them come with an easy mode just to go through the storyline? Don't say youtube.

I'll definitely try to find time to beat Bayonetta 1 & 2 before the 3rd comes out. I've started the 1st game a few times and really enjoyed what I played of it, but other games sidetracked me, and I didn't go back to it. Either way, I'll be buying Bayonetta 3 on day one.

Beat both but it was a while ago, back in 2018 I thought a Bayonetta 3 trailer was going to be shown at the Game Awards (given the initial reveal at Game Awards 2017) so I beat them before that to avoid spoilers.

Have played Bayonetta a few times, got it when it was patched on PS3 and on Wii U. Only played the 2nd game once but keep meaning to go back, I played on easy and some of the boss fights were over before all of the dialog played out so it feels like I missed some of it. Will play on normal this time.

I bought the Bayo 2 / Bayo 1 bundle disk on the Wii U a few years ago, played a bit of Bayo 2, but then sadly it joined the many other oh so worthwhile games relegated to backlog purgatory.

Someday I have to make a list and dig into that swamp. So, so many good titles are going underappreciated! @_@

I'm gonna rebuy the first 2 on wii u again. I still have it in perfect condition and im not keen on bayonetta 1 being a download only. And I doubt there is much difference between Wii U and Switch.

@Boldfoxrd the difference is the switch versions of the first 2 have better resolution/improved graphics over the wii u versions.

I do need to replay them at some point. I remember the general plot but want to go back and see a few more cutscenes. I still think they did Jubileus wrong.

No problem, if I could freeze time and find the time, playing those games in mass of games i don't have the time playing.

Collateral damage as a result of the existence of "sequels"... People will play previous prequels or will roll forward if they choose. Nice play to reignite profits for Bayo 1 and 2, PlatinumGames...

hmmm, I really need both games on an affordable cartridge though. :-

I played the first game WAY back on Xbox 360. It was actually one of my two final games I played through on my 360 before I traded it for a PS3.

I’ve never played the second one. Never had a Wii U.

I would love to play the Switch version but my God it never goes on sale. I’m not paying 60 bucks for it.

I dunno about 2’s difficulty, but play the 1st one on hard.

It was a challenge. But a fair one. You will die quite a bit but it’s never the game’s mechanics at fault.

I meant re-release Bayonetta 2 with the code for Bayo 1 physically. Almost impossible to find where I live.

Cut me a sweet deal on the double pack and I'll play 'em both.

On the e-shop, it's 30 € for Bayonetta from 2009, 50 € for Bayonetta 2 from 2014, 60 € for both. Physical anything between 65 € and 200 € from resellers, and that is one as download, and two on the card … No, I think I'll wait for a decent sale. Or: „If I haven’t played the first and second games, I might as well skip the third.“

I couldn’t make heads nor tails of the story in the 1st one, I even watched a YouTube of all the cutscenes after I'd finished

If you want to just play it I wouldn’t recommend it on easy… it really is way too easy just play on normal and try not to worry about score use health items as much as you can afford and just enjoy the mechanics of the game. You’ll be getting stone statues rather than those sweet platinums (pure platinums are insanely hard). Unfortunately there is QTEs in the first which you will probably die on just continue take the hit and move on. The game gets bonkers and is a lot of fun. Second game for me personally was very easy so once your comfortable and have finished the first you will breeze through the second.

Maybe watch bayonetta 2 gameplay maybe.
