Combine 'action platformer' with office life and, theoretically, you get The Company Man. Developed by Forust and published by Leoful, it sort-of satirises office life while serving up what looks like a high-tempo bit of platforming and hack 'n slash gameplay.
It'll be making its debut on Switch in early 2022 priced at USD19.99 / EUR19,99, and it could be quite entertaining. You can see some of the official blurb below.
The Company Man is a classic action platformer inspired by the popular American TV series "The Office". You play as Jim, a young salaryman starting out at the Good Water Company. Unsatisfied with how the company is run, Jim sets out to overthrow his boss and become the CEO. Launch email attacks against coworkers with a powerful keyboard, run and jump across departments from Human Resources to Marketing, boost up with coffee beans, and show them who's boss!

It looks a bit more eventful than a typical office, for sure, but we've all fantasized of wielding a keyboard like a powered up sword...
We'll keep an eye out for full release details in the coming weeks; is this one for your wishlist?

Didn’t another game do something like this but it was a roguelike game?
The artstyle isn't my favorite, but the gameplay looks like it could be pretty good. I love his run animation and the powering up with coffee breaks.
The male protagonist is refreshing.
Ah yes, they key-board-blade
@Greatluigi Going Under?
@ShePenny Down to the name of the game, even. Surely it wouldn't have been that hard to draw up a female character, give her the same animations, make a simple character select screen, and think up a non-gendered title.

Wish I could do this in real life.
@mr12calvin Did you know that it's normal for women to work in offices?
@Bret Yes ofcourse. Completely normal. Equity is good. But the movement is toxic. Why does there HAVE to be a female character. Why does it matter so much.
@Bret I wasn't being sarcastic, it's refreshing to see something this unapologetic. The game is about a man, not a woman.
There are vastly more games featuring men than women as primary characters, even today; games featuring women just catch the eye more (since many folks perceive characters being women or minorities as inherently "political" or "pandering" so they stick out more). I think there's nothing wrong with this game's premise, but the string of commenters using it as an excuse to punch some political hot buttons and go "ha ha, point for us!" definitely deserves an eye roll.
There's a Earthworm Jim 2 Iso 9000 level vibe to this. Dig it!
/looks at latest Switch purchases... Kitaria Fables, male MC; NEO TWEWY, male MC; SMT V, male MC. Bug Fables, male MC.
/is confused about why people seem to think male protags don't happen anymore.
@Clyde_Radcliffe yep that’s it.
I don't understand? aren't alot of main characters in games male? even the really popular ones? Mario, link, sonic?
So I don't understand how this is refreshing or even remotely a point for us in any way?
There seem to be so few comments sections these days that actually discuss the game in question.
"American TV series"? Really? The office is British. The American show was so bad they had to rewrite half the characters after season 1.
@mr12calvin what kind of drugs are you on? Share with the class
OK, that just looks like a lot of fun. A high-paced platformer with a sense of humour and unique aesthetic. Doesn't look punishingly hard. Not a metroidvanian? Just fun to pick up. You'd think that kind of game would be a lot more common actually.
