At The Game Awards earlier this month, Sega and Sonic Team lifted the lid on the new "open-zone realm" game Sonic Frontiers.
It's due to arrive at some point in the "holiday 2022", so when exactly can we expect the blue blur's next outing? According to the PlayStation database tracker 'PlayStation Game Size', Sonic's next adventure has been listed for 15th November.
The date lines up with the holiday period, and as Sonic fans have noted - the month of November has seen quite a lot of Sonic games released in the past. Of course, it could just be a placeholder date - so keep this in mind.

This date would presumably include the release of the game on all other platforms including Switch. When do you think we'll see Sonic Frontiers next year? Take a guess down below.

If thats the case, lets hope thats enough time to polish the game, Saying if sega didn't rush the team this time.
If that's the release date then hopefully we see a gameplay trailer by digital E3 2022. If not I doubt it'll be 2022 ready.
I mean, it seems wholly possible. Holiday window of 2022? It tracks.
That is quite possibly the worst time to release a game, as Pokémon will be eating your lunch
@Screen Gamefreak isn't going to release a game in November. The 2022 pokemon game is Legends, which is releasing January. If anything, Sonic Frontiers could possibly compete with BotW 2, if that releases in 2022, and if it's the holiday game of that year.
Still doubting how good their switch version will look/run.
@UglyCasanova wouldn't be surprised if the Switch Version ends up being an entirely different game, kind of like how Lego games used to release entirely different games depending on if you were buying it on a handheld or on the actual consoles.
@VoidofLight Or how the Wii/PS2 got a very different version of Sonic Unleashed than the PS3/360 got
so next Zelda will be a summer release
@Screen there ain’t gonna be a Pokémon game releasing next November
@ChakraStomps No, it won't. Nintendo doesn't make Sonic, so Sonic releasing in November doesn't mean Zelda won't.
Truly thought Forces killed the chance of me getting excited for another Sonic game, but I’m looking forward to this with fingers crossed.
@Kirbo100
Zero chance of that happening they will release a janky downgraded port because their zealot fans let them get away with it, the same reason they got away with the horrific launch of Colors Ultimate.
@RubyDevilNine True, But look at sonic colors and forces over here, Forces was made in like a year, and Colors had a million bugs along with it, all because it was rushed.
I just want Them to take there time.
"Holidays" is always November...? Second week is the last decent release week of the year. Black Friday comes into play the following week onwards - where your new full price release comes up against heavily discounted titles. When was the last time a major game released in December?
Honestly, take until 2023. We got some good open world games coming this year, I'd rather wait over a year and a half to make sure it's good.
I'm so worried after Sonic Forces. I hope that they have fired the bad and hired the good ones because Sonic Team at that point was an utter mess and Sonic Forces was a huge disappointment, not just because it was rushed but because of everything: graphics, levels, design, gameplay, moves, script... But time is important as well so if I were Sega I'd take my time with this one, especially after Sonic Forces happened. The potential of Sonic Frontiers is huge and it's on a mission to save Sonic in 3D.
By the way, Sonic Generations, the best Sonic 3D game, looks and plays like a dream now on Series X/S.
@RubyDevilNine To me, it was utterly disappointing for the reasons above and I was already prepared for some disappointment. The level design and the cut moves and worse controls compared to Sonic Generations are probably the worst thing about it.
@Snatcher with four years to work on it? They won’t have rushed it
@Zarudepie Who said they had four years?
I am hopeful but deeply pessimistic about this.
@Snatcher they’ve had since may 2018 to start planning and making this. Colors ultimate did not take three years.
@Kirbo100 Yeap and that's the stuff I want more companies nowadays to do, making a totally perhaps different maybe good game with that same name. Remember the Game Gear and SMS got an entirely different Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 games apart from the Genesis version as well. Sometimes different also makes it good.
@Zarudepie You never know with Sega, They could have cut corners.
But I rather say that it might be rushed then saying the game is going to work just fine.
Sonic has had a history with rushed games, so I'm really not going to say this is any different, I would like at least 2023, But that might be too long.
If Zelda and Sonic come out the same month (November) I'll have the best birthday of my LIFE.
@UglyCasanova imagine playing on switch.
This is most likely true. Most 3d sonic Games release in November/December.
@Snatcher I think forces was sort of rushed just because of lack of levels. Team sonic racing’s story mode was really dissapointing. By now, I really don’t care if it’s rushed as long as they give me a wide open area to smash robots with sonic.
