The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Unite, the free-to-play MOBA available on both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, has now surpassed a whopping 50 million downloads.
After initially launching on Switch in July, the game achieved nine million downloads on Nintendo's platform by September. In that same month, the mobile version was released, seemingly helping the game to reach huge new heights with this latest milestone.
As a thank you, all Pokémon Unite players will be eligible to claim a free gift starting on 9th December. Anyone who logs in will be treated to 2,000 Aeos Tickets, which can be spent on a variety of different in-game rewards.
As you can see, you'll have until 31st January to claim your prize so make sure to log in by that date.
If you missed the news, 9th December also sees the introduction of the game's latest Pokémon, Tsareena.

It’s amazing how many of my non-Pokémon playing friends play this game.
I guess the internet was wrong on this game, clearly doing well. I wonder how many are from switch and how many are from mobile ads
Good to see it doing well but I still can't stand MOBAs.
@Zeldawakening
the internet can have accurate comments, ideas and opinions when made with the mind (and heart) in peace and responsibility; but unfortunately, there will always be the dark side when just to annoy and disperse hatred of something the dramas and whining that are seen every day are made ...
and this game does not deserve that contempt, despite the topics about Tencent and games of this type, the game itself is entertaining, for all audiences and is "free" (if you want)
Once again the stats are centered on how many got the Item/game/product. Not how many people got the Item/game/product and still likes it and/or didn't regret it.
Ex: I am one of those that downloaded Pokemon Unite and tried it out. HOWEVER! Did I play it more than once? No. Is it still downloaded? No. Will I ever redownload/play it again? No.
another Ex: I bought the Nintendo Wii at one point. Did I end up liking the Wii? Heck no! I hated it! All that forced (and terrible) motion crap. Which because of that the only Wii game I had by the time I finally got rid of it was Legend of Zelda. And that's ONLY because The Legend of Zelda is my favorite game series and so I stuck to it till it finally came out on the Switch and them Immediately sold everything Wii related
It's only redeeming feature was that it played Gamecube games.
@Snatcher Did you mean to attach that reply to my comment? Because what you said has nothing to do with what I said. I have no clue what you are talking about
@DaruniaJones1988 Wait I read it again, My bad LMAO! you were talking about downloads and not the items in game, I will just delete it now LOL.
@Snatcher it's all good. I've done that plenty of times, lol
Unite turned out to be a really accessible MOBA with great animations, no ads and isn't too heavy at all on pay to win (once it got a few updates). I don't mind getting the odd season pass and spending a little bit on in-game currencies with free-to-play like this and Brawl Stars if they're getting regular updates. I reckon my total spend on this is about £15 since launch, and I've played a lot more hours on it than a bunch of Switch games I've spent over double that on. 🤷♂️
If I could pay the price of a full game once to bypass the more grindy mobile game nature, like they did with the F2P Rumble game for 3DS, where I could earn the premium currency and also have the new Battle Pass, I would. But considering people are buying individual skins for $40 each, I doubt that'd happen.
I'm also curious how many people who justified Sword & Shield being amazing games 'because they sold well' are saying Unite is terrible and that the amount of downloads & money spent don't equate to quality.
It's a pretty good MOBA although I prefer MLBB or Wild Rift since most unite matches, hell all of them, come down to who kills Zapdos really.
I guess I count as 2 of those downloads since I started on Switch and then got it on Mobile as the controls are much more precise there.
I never like handphone games, never like MOBA style games, the worst things ever.
I still stick on console and handhelds games.
@UglyCasanova Zap needs some type Of nerf, The whole game revolves around that. I can Lose the whole match, and I get a lucky hit and boom, Win.
People saying Zap is everything do not play enough. Any team that doesn't quit and understands that you can go score while they are scoring can still win. And many times you can knock out the other team before they score.
Thinking Zap is everything is a self-fulfilling fate.
@ChakraStomps You must be playing high tier ranked with people on voice chat then because yes, with randoms in anything below the highest of high rankings, Zapdos pretty much is the end all.
