Well, here's some news that will likely bring back some childhood memories for many people around the globe. Humongous Entertainment has announced it'll be bringing its classic point-and-click adventures Putt-Putt Travels Through Time and Freddi Fish 3: The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell to the Nintendo Switch.
Both games will be released in America and Europe on the Switch eShop on 3rd January 2022. In Japan and Asia they'll show up on 6th January. Putt-Putt's outing was first released in 1997 and Freddi Fish 3 came out in 1998. Here's a look at the Switch trailers along with a description via Steam:
Mr. Firebird's time machine has gone haywire and Putt-Putt's® best pal Pep, is lost somewhere in time. Grab your compass! Putt-Putt® needs your child's help to find him. Together, they'll leap through time, explore new dimensions and discover surprising new friends. Meet Ms. Brachiosaurus - she holds the key to unlocking the secrets of the dinosaurs. See what pans out when you visit Silverado Sam, the prospector from the Old West. Be sure to check out Darien the librarian from the Future - he just may have the book you need. These are just a few of the delightful friends who will help your child reunite our pals. It's an adventure-of-the-centuries that will keep kids coming back time and time again!
All is well on their tropical vacation, until our finny friends realize the Great Conch Shell is missing! Uncle Blenny can't open the Founder's Day Festival until the heralded horn has been recovered! Your child will join Freddi Fish and Luther as they explore ancient ruins, play games at a fun-filled carnival and even discover a sunken airplane while looking for clues and finding adventure. Rosy Pearl, Pierre the Tailor and Nadine the Narwhal are just a few of the fun new friends they'll meet as they follow Old Snoggy's sniffer through this tropical paradise. In the end, it's up to your child to piece the clues together and figure out who's responsible for this underwater caper!
Will you be trying these out when they land on Switch? Any fond memories of either of these games? Comment down below.

I grew up with putt putt. I will honestly get this if it goes on sale
I have never played that game before but i knew about that game on Wii from garage sale on my local online shopping website.
Looks like 90's PC games from the graphic aspect. 😆
Don't let the childish look fool you, Humongous games were fun. I played one of the Freddi Fish games, and have played Pajama Sam later on via GOG.
This is a really weird coincidence but those two games are the only two in the series I've actually played.
I remember playing Putt Putt Saves the Zoo when I was little. That's one name I would never thought of coming back.
I appreciate that parents and guardians who grew up with these games will have the chance to share with new generations.
These are unironically better games than Sonic Forces.
This is awesome, loved these games growing up. Hope more of the Humongous catalogue makes the Switch in due time, I’d love to take a little nostalgia trip if the prices are decent!
Never realised how thicc Putt Putt was
It's baffling that there are so few (good) educational games for children on Switch. It really could be a great platform for it. You'd think that Leapfrog games would get ported to Switch in order to broaden their reach as there would be far more Switches or tablets in children's hands than a dedicated handheld for educational software.
It's a tragedy that Edmark, MECC, Headbone, and The Learning Company no longer exist (at least not as they did in the 90s). They produced fantastic educational and "edutainment" games that I think hold up today, and it's such a shame that their catalogues haven't been ported to/remade for modern hardware so that new generations can experience them.
Why do these Humongous re-releases always miss Spy Fox? It was brilliant and stylish and - oh yeah, randomized plot points so that no playthrough would be the same at least for three or four go-arounds.
Is Humongus still under Billionsoft? Because they fell off the face of the earth after Paws on Fire as far as I can tell...
Still holding out hope we'll get the proper Bubsy franchise redemption the world (that being me and me alone) needs...
Yup I grew up with Putt Putt and Freddi Fish (and dabbled in Pyjama Sam). Really good games actually and totally going to go through them again on Switch haha!
Thought I would prefer Putt Putt goes to the Moon or Saves the Zoo.
I played a lot of those games when l was a child. Nice to see them coming to switch. I recently played Putt Putt Saves the Zoo on steam.
PeanutButterGamer is soiling his pants right now.
It’ll be interesting to see how they price these… great games for what they are, but I imagine they won’t be the most high effort ports. Which is fine, if the price reflects that.
Love a good humongous game. Hopefully we’ll get some more from the backlog!
Forget PuttPutt,
I want Elroy goes Bugzerk !

Also the gangster one. ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xlKrlqA6L-E )
And while you're at it, bring Skipper&Skeeto aswell.
The third one (Revenge of Mr.Shade) was A-Ma-Zing
Amazing news! I hope they also include translations — Russian pirates did a great job on these.
my childhood...
My childhood right there
All I care about is Putt Putt goes to the Zoo
@nessisonett
your comments make me smile so often. thanks!
Am I a grown ass man in his late 20's who is WAY too old to buy and play these games? Yes.
Am I going to buy and play them, anyway? Also yes.
My little brother had Freddi Fish 3, and I'm pretty sure I played it more than he did... 😅
My kids aren't really the "sit still for anything that isn't dessert" type, but it would definitely be fun to introduce them to some of the games I played as a kid
I have watched various YouTubers play these games over the years and while I have no interest in them myself it is pretty cool to see them coming to Switch.
@RubyDevilNine It was a joke, but also the truth lol
I don't have kids, but I'm super happy to see The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell coming back! I haven't played this game in decades... It wouldn't be weird if an adult like me wanted to buy this just to replay it for himself would it?
Welcome back, old friends! Let's hope Sam can get in on the fun, too.
My son played Putt Putt so much when he was little that I never want to see a Putt Putt game again. Lol.
Now we just need Spy Fox and Pajama Sam to round out the collection
I assume the later tiles with real people would have licensing issues, but surprised no one has mentioned the Backyard Sports games yet.
I loved playing Spy Fox, Freddi Fish, and PJ Sam on my dad’s old PC back in the early 00s. I own the whole series through Steam, so I probably won’t play the Switch versions but I may replay one of the Humongous games in the near future.
@KayFiOS I bought the Humongous Collection on Steam as someone in their mid-to-late twenties, so there’s no shame in it. I replayed Spy Fox: Dry Cereal a year ago; it was a real nostalgia trip.
I hope the rest will be ported later, Putt Putt Saves the Zoo was always my favorite!
