The Nintendo Switch Online free trials have served up a nice mix of Indie gems and occasionally some major retail titles. The next arrival in Europe is certainly in the first category, but could be an excellent option for some pre-Holiday unwinding.
Shin'en Multimedia's Art of Balance will be available to EU subscribers from 14th December to 20th December. As a reminder it's the latest and greatest version of a WiiWare gem, but with HD visuals, 200 levels and an impressive variety of modes.
The goal sounds simple at first: Build a balanced stack from all given shapes, but there are plenty of challenges. Some shapes break under load, while others can even reverse gravity and literally turn the stack upside down. With practice, some experimentation and a little bit of luck however you'll quickly master even the most difficult challenges.
Packed with 5 unique game modes, online play and local split-screen, Art of Balance is the ultimate test for aspiring puzzle masters. Three additional players can join in at any time and help you solve the puzzles.
With a relaxing lounge soundtrack and 8 beautiful environments, Art of Balance is the ideal fit for casual gaming sessions alone or with friends.

I got this free on wii u through My Nintendo a few years ago, pretty sure I completed it in a single day. Good fun though
I somehow had no idea this was on Switch. Loved the 3DS version.
Love the game! It's also surprisingly fun in multiplayer!
This is a great game, but this lowers the bar for the trial service.
This is an £8 game that has often gone on sale for 50% off or less.
That's hardly comparable to a retail game trial, or what competing online subscriptions are offering.
It's a great game. Simple to pick up and play but hard to master the harder levels. I already have it but it's well worth the trial for anybody yet to try it.
But as Rupeeclock pointed out it's only a cheapish e-shop game not a full rrp release, so Nintendo is hardly going all out here..
@RupeeClock I’m pretty sure they did a trial for among us and that’s a $3 dollar game.
@faint
Among Us is at least a social phenomena that thousands of people were actively playing, and might still be.
Art of Balance is an old 3DS / Wii U eShop game ported forward to the Switch three years ago.
Even my non-gamer dad likes this game...
Its a nice relaxing game, and very worth the price
Had no idea that there was a Switch version, but it's great on 3DS and Wii U.
I'd recommend trying/buying it if you haven't already!
I know it's nothing compared to Xbox or PlayStation but I do appreciate NSO having trials (baby steps for Nintendo). In a perfect world, it would be a new game every week and each trial would last one week from when you start playing to actually give you enough time to play the trial.
It’s a great game. Beat it on the 3ds and got it for free on the Wii u
i bought on 3ds for first time, then on wiiu. maybe on sale.....
I feel like they should do more game trails for 1st party games
@RupeeClock Among Us is free on just about every cellphone. Art Of Balance isn’t
Good game. I've already beaten it on 3DS so I'm skipping the trial. I kind of like the focus on a single game at a time (though I understand why people want more). It's probably a nice boost for a game as old as this one that doesn't get much attention otherwise.
Great game. Had it on Wii, Wii U and now Switch.
This is one of the few games that my non-gamer partner likes playing, so I snatched it up as soon as I saw it pop on the the Switch.
In my experience, after playing a couple hours of intense/fast-paced online games, this is a perfect "winding down" game to cleanse the pallet before heading off to bed.
I originally got this through My Nintendo for my 3DS. It's a good game. Might try out the trial to see if the switch port is worth it.
Great game and well crafted just like all Shin'en titles. Wish they had already ported Nano Asault Neo at this point or released Touryst 2, since it's been 2 years since their last release on Switch.
Could never beat all the levels in Art of Balance though.
