This week's Arcade Archives release from Hamster is Typhoon Gal / Onna Sanshirou. It was originally an action beat 'em up game released by Taito in 1985. Here's some PR and screenshots:
"Players control martial-arts challenger Yuki as she faces off with the toughest opponents at rival martial arts schools. Yuki can use both major and minor techniques. Weaken enemies with minor techniques, then take them down with a single major technique!"
This game supports up to 2 players and is available for $7.99 USD or your regional equivalent. Will you be adding this title to your Switch Home Menu? Tell us down below.

and yet taito fails again by neglecting the nes games
Didn't know about this, it wasn't previously announced either (although this is classic Hamster), and I'll definitely consider buying it. After all, it introduced the first female in a fighting game!
Wow, I’ve actually never heard of this game. I like the many takedowns she has. And ya can’t go wrong with kicking people right in the you know what.
@ogo79 is that Taito or Nintendo that fails there? Maybe they cannot come to an agreement of royalties. Also Taito is owned by Square Enix so I’d be questioning them.
@ogo79
Why would we want the NES versions - I never played one other than maybe Contra that wasn't inferior to the original.
I'll probably pass on this - video on the JPN shop doesn't look great if I'm honest. Gives me time to pick up a few of the previous weeks releases I haven't gotten around to yet.
Like the music
I don't understand why Taito still hasn't put Rainbow Islands on it. ☹️
More cheaply licensed rubbish to add to the collection.
@Clyde_Radcliffe it's nothing to do with TAITO
@ogo79 Has nothing to do with TAITO, you think these companies are sat around deciding about what games to release?
@YANDMAN It's a TAITO franchise...
Up until now, this has always been a Japan exclusive, this is its debut in the West.
Not Taitos finest for sure, luckily I have coinopsx on my cab so everything from Taito practically.
I've never heard of this game before today, but I love it already!
The number and variety of old arcade games is really amazing - here’s another one I never encountered, and I like the Karate Kid vibe! Keep it up Hamster!
When will they come out with Taito’s heavy hitters like Cadash, Rastan, Operation Wolf, Chase H.Q.? It’s like they nickel and dime us. Please get back to quality games instead of quantity. I rather have quality arcade games once every two weeks instead of lackluster games every week.
Really interesting style of game. It's like an alternate style of Karate Champ.
Never played this. Looks nice. Will add to the wishlist.
Great. Awesome. Now do Rainbow Islands and Rastan ffs.
Not bad for 1985. At the time we only had Karate Champ, Kicker, Yie Ar Kung Fu, and Kung-Fu Master and not much else I can remember. And it looks like you have to work for those takedowns sometimes, neat.

i was actually talking about the overpriced/rare nes games that some havent had a chance to play. it would do good for taito or whoever you think owns these titles, to release them at this point. it doesnt effect me, i owned all these overpriced taito games. i was just looking out for the rest of the bunch.
@Clyde_Radcliffe
but they dont get it.
@ogo79 ahh ok, it sounded like you were wanting the other games released. I agree they are charging way too much for the games that released. Of course Square Enix has always thought their games were worth more than they are, I’m guessing they have no clue about the Taito games and they are thinking they are worth more because of scarcity maybe. I’m with you though I already own all the original Taito games them all that I want. To be fair the whole digital game scene is way overpriced for the most part for a majority of games out there. Being charged full price for many games unless you catch them on a good sale and having to pay high prices for dlcs is ridiculous.
Typhoon Girl for Smash
@Clyde_Radcliffe I meant in response to licensing them for the eshop, that has nothing to do with TAITO. The TAITO logo on the arcade game screen gives the clue to your proposed answer.
