This Autumn, the Nintendo Switch will be getting remastered — sorry, ahem, ReVamped versions of third-person horror action games, Bloodrayne 1 and 2.
As Rayne, a half-vampire ass-kicker and Nazi-slayer, you'll get to face supernatural threats and use your vampiric powers to save the day. The ReVamp will add a ton of new features, enhancements, and upgrades, too:
- Support for higher resolution displays up to 4K
- Upscaled cinematics
- Improved lighting and effects
- Support for uncompressed original textures
- Extra languages for both voiced audio and text (including French, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish)
Even better, the Switch (and the PS4) will be getting physical editions of the ReVamp through Limited Run Games, which will be available this autumn when the game comes out.
Bloodrayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites came out earlier this month, earning a 7/10 review from us which praised its visuals, sound, and combat, but found that the platforming fell flat.

A pair of good-not-great action games.
"Support for higher resolution displays up to 4K" First official leak of Switch Pro? 😅
Anyway, I didn't play these back in the day... Do they worth playing?
I'm going to have to say I thought the gamecube games were poor and couldn't see what the fuss was about.
The fact that this is a full HD remaster is what makes me interested.
Wish Limited Run Games' grubby paws weren't all over the physical release though 😒
@RCGamer they're campy fun, if not a bit dated.
We get an HD remaster of the BloodRayne series but the Legacy of Kain series remains in limbo? Come on Embracer Group, walk up to Square Enix's office with a bag of money and buy the Legacy of Kain series from Eidos. Get us a remaster of Blood Omen 1 & 2, Soul Reaver 1 & 2, and Defiance = print money.
Interesting. I will get it if reviews are good
@Magician Aw man, Legacy of Kain defo needs a comeback!
@RCGamer extremely unlikely! This remaster will also be heading to Xbox One and PS4
A couple of decent games back then, but I doubt they held up to today’s games. I will prob get these on sale someday if they review well.
Bring 'em all, I say. I remember enjoying these back in the day.
Only ever played the first one on the Cube when it came out. Was some silly fun. I'm intrigued.
They upgraded my original versions on Steam, but I'd recommend it on Switch if it's on sale.
They don't really make games like this anymore - I'd say that's a strength and a weakness.
@RCGamer
Had more Fun with the Demo of the second than with the full Game of the first.
So get the Second X)
Wait... French audio for both? I remember that on Steam the first one got it but the second game???
Some old decent games, kinda wish we got a revival of the Legacy of Kain games someday but a vampire sucking babe is still okay.
I forgot to put the fresh bites game on my wish list
Cool great news
Love the first 2
I know the second had a lot of glitches but I still liked it
I am hoping for a cartridge version but probably get it ever way on this one 😊
Fun fact everyone: Rayne was the first video game character to feature in Playboy. Yes, really.
@Magician I had so much fun playing the first game back then (except some parts that were a bit frustrating).
NL was being fairly generous with the 7/10 for Fresh Bites. The controls are sluggish and good lord, that speed metal music… I don’t care what anyone has to say, bad choice
Any reason why you don't link up the tweet or press release for this?
@RCGamer
The first one released on gamecube, and I really loved that one 20 years ago, but it was when superhero-esque 3d games were still sort of new.
Half the fun was being a super human that could blaze through a flurry of bullets, jump on a nazi, bite them and drain them of health, and use them as a human shield while healing.
But, it's been 20 years, so it may not carry the same weight it once did.
Also, I don't know if the revamping will change this, but there is (was?) an absurd amount of jiggle physics back in the day. So while the game celebrated a strong female protagonist, it also blatantly sexualized her and at least one very gruesome, female, nazi doctor.
If its like the latest one then i guess it will be not for me. A continuation of it in full 3D would be a nicer touch to this series. Fresh bites is an utter dissapointment, i tried hard to like and play the game but i cant continue due how had the movement is. Also the art looks like something from a book, like the story takes place inside a book. Lets hope the next ones will be better to play because o really want to give this series a chance.
@CharlieGirl wouldn’t be so bad if limited run would actually give you your games in a timely fashion. Buying a game and waiting freaking 6-12 months to get it is ridiculous. I buy them only because I prefer and will pay the extra for physical but come on man the wait time is stupid.
I always kinda ignored this series back in the day. Now I kinda see what it’s all about. I might have missed out back then.
Oh hell yeah.
The first BloodRayne is a very nostalgic game for me, as I played it at a really young age. First third with the giant spiders and whatnot was meh, but the second was awesome with the nazi kill list and the parasite monsters scared the scheisse out of me back then, and then the final third wasn't as solid but still pretty awesome.
There aren't many games I bother to replay since I'd rather use that time on new ones - yet somehow I've played through BR multiple times. And I also never got a chance to play the sequel, so... Yeah, needless to say, I welcome this collection.
They reVamp a lot of games, adding vampires to them. I'd play a reVamp of Ocarina of Time.
I always wanted to play these games when they were new, but I never got around to it. May give them a shot this time around.
I know I played Bloodrayne back in the day, but I can't, for the life of me, remember if it was any good or not.
innnnnteresting. I'll keep an eye out!!
I’ll get the games as they are really nice, but I have one grudge…
Why does LRG always snatch such releases??? Their distribution is severely limited, costs a lot to import their releases (for someone outside the US) and I heard horror stories about taking ages to get the games from them…
@SwitchVogel I have no idea what to do with this infomation lol.
