It's felt like a relatively long build-up, but with a release date of 30th September we're not far off from getting our hands on Astria Ascending. Developer Artisan Studios has some genre veterans and luminaries working on the game - this includes narrative by Kazushige Nojima (whose credits include Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy VII Remake), art from CyDesignation (Akihiko Yoshida and Hideo Minaba), as well as a soundtrack from composer Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Vagrant Story, Radiant Silvergun, Gradius V, Final Fantasy Tactics, Valkyria Chronicles).
Now there's a new trailer (above) from publisher Dear Villagers, which is focused on showcasing the basic combat mechanics in the game. As you can see you can boost up certain attacks and exploit enemy weaknesses, though it can also backfire in some cases.
This looks set to offer an interesting and lengthy JRPG experience when it lands at the end of the month; you can learn more about it from our previous interview with some of the development team, too.
Are you planning to pick up Astria Ascending on 30th September?

Looking forward to it.
Just want to take this time to appreciate that we still have video game news websites that have their own styles and it's not just twitter 24/7. I loved going to gametrailers.com but it has been replaced entirely by youtube, but these articles cannot be replaced by twitter.
Thanks for your hard work, love the website.
Looks good to me. The unique art style makes it stand out. Seems like the kind of game I'd like to sink my teen into once I'm done with Trails of Cold Steel IV.
Looks pretty cool. I'll check out the reviews on this one, but I like what I'm seeing so far.
Seem that it will be available in Game Pass.
It looks very good, but with Cruisin' and MonkeyBall so close, I don't think I'll have much time (or money) to buy it
From the same team that made Super Neptunia RPG. I thoroughly enjoyed that game, so I expect the same experience with Astria Ascending. Perhaps even more excited with Sakimoto composing the soundtrack.
Will definitely play on game pass.
@Magician how is the current state of that game? i hear it wasnt the best at launch in terms of performance or bugs (at least on switch) but was patched, didnt hear if the patch improved things a lot.
hoping this game has a smoother launch.
Looks like a mobile game.
Looking forward to this. I enjoyed my time with Super Neptunia so I'm curious to see how they tackle a game in a classic JRPG story/setting.
Everything just lacks any sort of impact, like add some sound effects to your funky ice rain attack or something at least, and all the sword swipes sound so weak too.
Honestly that alone makes this already come off as sort of unprofessional to me.
Is the physical version coming out later? Amazon has a placeholder date.
