Update [Sat 31st Jul, 2021 20:00 BST]: This demo is now available on the Switch eShop in Europe and North America. It will require around 170MB of free space. Enjoy!
Original story [Thu 29th Jul, 2021 01:53 BST]: Yesterday, Sega finally locked in a local release date for Picross S Genesis & Master System Edition (also known as Picross S Mega Drive & Master System Edition for PAL gamers).
It'll be arriving on 5th August for $9.99/€9,99/£8.99 and will include puzzles based on 59 Sega games. There are 300 puzzles for Picross and Mega Picross, 150 puzzles for Clip Picross and 30 puzzles for Color Picross. That's 480 puzzles in total.
If you're curious to see what this game is like ahead of schedule, the good news is there's now a demo on the Japanese eShop. This version contains full English language support, so you get straight into the puzzle solving action.
So, what are you waiting for? Head on over to the Nintendo Switch eShop and download this now!

I'm playing Shining Force II for the first time via the Mega Drive Classics app. And last year I played Phantasy Star IV for the first time too.
So I'm down for some retro Sega themed Picross, why the heck not.
I love having Japan-exclusive demos on my Switch. Thanks for the heads-up
Edit: The demo isn't Japan-exclusive any longer, haha
Hoping this one hits the uk soon, as I was just checking the eshop to see if it was listed!
I've never played a Picross game because there are SO MANY of them and it intimidates me. But I think I just might have to pick this one up.
@EarthboundBenjy I also played Phantasy Star IV for the first time a year or two ago thanks to that collection! Then later after I finished playing all four Phantasy Star games on my Switch, I regretted playing them in reverse order. After I finish Sword of Vermilion I just might have to play the Shining Force games for the billionth time.
@TryToBeHopeful I believe there was an article on here yesterday stating it releases on the 5th August in the west. £8.99.
@Jey887 yes, but I was hoping there would be a demo today.
And there is now!
The demo is also available in Europe.
Just played it. Sadly there aren't enough levels in the demo.
@Boldfoxrd what is available in the demo? not sure if it's worthy of a download tbh
@huyi its a mixture of each mode. Eg a few from colour, a few from mega, and a few from regular picross.
BTW I've always wondered. Who is in your profile pic? Is it Mariah Carey?
@kurtasbestos I understand: there are many picross games and games like them. I played several picross games on 3ds and switch. But, i like the "Travel Mosaics" best in the genre. Nonogram games are fun for a 10 to 20 minute session. I hope you find one that you like.
@Boldfoxrd spot on! She's drinking champagne 🥂🥂🍾 it's her best moment, N01 fan 😁😁
@Boldfoxrd meh I don't know if it's worth the download, I'm too addicted to binding of Isaac atm ❤️❤️❤️
@MH4 Not sure I understand what you mean. The demo is on the US eshop at least, what is Japan exclusive?
@XBontendo I think when this page was first published a few days ago it was focussed on the then-Japan only demo release.
@CivilMadman Oh! I just skimmed then hopped on the eshop to grab it, so my fault for misundertanding. Thanks for that
@XBontendo I made my comment before the demo was released internationally; sorry for any confusion!
@MH4 my fault for not paying attention, no worries!
Honestly, I think this website has a problem when it comes to republishing previous articles - the old comments at the top are all responding to a different version of the article than the one currently seen.
It's good that republished or updated articles contain an "Original Story" section, but it would be better if we could determine at a glance which comments were responding to the original story without having to compare dates.
Is it just me or does one of the free maps have a mistake? Mega Picross M042... I think the numbers are off.
I'm delighted they didn't forget Bonanza Bros., though I'd have liked if Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa got a bit of love alongside its predecessor. Ah well, I'll still buy it someday.
Still wish this was on 3DS instead of switch
