Yet another distribution event has been announced for Pokémon Sword and Shield, this time offering players a special Porygon-Z.
The Porygon-Z up for grabs is based on one that was used by Jeong Sang-yoon, winner of last year's Pokémon Trainers Cup in Korea; the distribution coincides with the final of this year's competition, which takes place on 7th August, and follows on from a shiny Amoongus distribution offered last year.
This competitively viable 'mon will be Level 50, will have a Silk Scarf hold item, and will come with the Adaptability ability. Its moveset will be made up of Hyper Beam, Thunderbolt, Dark Pulse and Nasty Plot (thanks, Serebii).
To get your hands on it, all you need to do is enter a code in-game that's set to be distributed during the event. Keep an eye out on Pokémon Korea's YouTube channel for the tournament stream (and don't worry, codes aren't region-locked).

Cool because I love Porygon Z.
But meh because there's nothing really specific or special about this one.
Making a normal competitive mon on SWSH is super easy. One of the things they got right in the game.
Will this article be updated with the code?
I remember what a pain in the ass it was to get Porygon in the original games. Seems a lot easier here, lol.
It's good for those that doesn't own Nintendo Switch Online to get different region Pokémon for Shiny Breeding, I got Japan one at July 19th. I would had another region Pokémon last year and it would been Shiny Amoonguss, but noticed event after it ended, so.
I love the Porygon line. For the first time, I trained an unevolved Pokémon in my team, I think, in Black 2, as I had both a Porygon2 and Porygon-Z, often fighting side by side. Thanks to eviolite, Porygon2 was able to take more hits than his fully-evolved brother.
I missed out on all the other distributions since I didn't have the game till recently. Definitely gonna try to grab this one.
@Heavyarms55 It should come in a cherish ball, so it is different from a normally obtainable Porygon-Z. There are a decent amount of people who collect all the event distribution Pokemon.
It def is way easier the last few generations (especially in Gen 8) to make competitive Pokemon. I think its a good thing since it makes competitive play a lot more accessible.
@Quarth Any breed able Pokemon is honestly super easy to get if you don't mind asking someone to spare 10 minutes tops and don't mind trading.
I honestly have no idea how porygon is obtained normally obtained. Lol
@The_BAAD_Man probably unless they forget
@Heavyarms55 I'm talking about Red, Blue and Yellow on the Game Boy, wasn't Porygon a price at the Game Corner, for like 9999 coins which took forever to obtain? 😅
Great, some actual good mons.
I swear they did this last year as well. There was definitely a special competitive pokemon giveaway of one of the porygon forms from a championship
@Silly_G Eviolite Porygon2 is one of my all time favorite Pokemon to battle with. It's how I fell in love with Trick Room teams.
@Quarth Yup, unless you decided to use an item-duplicating glitch and get 200 nuggets and just buy the coins.
@Bret Ah, yes, the glitch which made MissingNo. appear, right? But that was only in Red, if I remember it correctly? Ah, good times!
Edit: Seems it appears in Blue and Yellow as well.
@Quarth I don't think it was THAT much. But it and Dratini were super pricey. That much I remember.
@orangeoctober That's a valid point.
And I agree. The accessibility of competitive in gen 8 is fantastic! Especially when they added that battle ready mark for Pokemon previously obtained! I used to refuse to play VGC because I didn't want to recreate all my Pokemon each gen. Now I can use Pokemon obtained in GBA cartridges in VGC on Switch!
Then factor in the ev reset guy and unlimited vitamins and hyper training and the ability patch!
Now we just need a rusty bottle cap for 0IV speed and a reverse ability patch to get rid of HA.
@Heavyarms55 I looked it up. 9999 in Red and Yellow, "only" 6500 in Blue. 😵
@Heavyarms55 Sure, but this particular competitive mon was trained by a champion who knows all the ins and outs of the competitive metagame, so I'm the sure the EV's and moveset have been fine-tuned like crazy. A lot more work went into this than the average competitive mon
@PokemaniacJOK Possibly. But P-Z usually isn't the type of mon to have a highly specific ev set. It's the kind of mon used for its raw power. Adaptability boosted max strike from Hyper Beam is one of the most powerful attacks in the whole game.
Did we miss this?
@Leecpfc I can’t find anything online. It was supposed to be released today.
Where is it? It’s after 8/7.
@MriSpam Apparently the explanation for the lack of code at the moment is “The stream didn't happen today as planned but will come at a later point. It was recorded today, just not shown live”
@Leecpfc
That's more info than I could find. Thanks for the update.
For anyone still interested in the code, it is 1STPTCCHAMP . It lasts until Aug 22nd. @Ryan if you guys could update the original story with it.
