Dante

Here's a bit of fun to liven up this dull Wednesday.

As you're no doubt aware, thanks to the reveal in this week's presentation hosted by Masahiro Sakurai, Dante from the Devil May Cry series is finally available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – as a Mii Fighter costume, at least. The costume's actually available to download as we speak, along with others based on the likes of Shantae and Skyrim's Dragonborn, as well as Tekken's Kazuya as a main fighter.

While some fans are no doubt disheartened to see that Dante didn't make it as a main roster DLC character, Nintendo is keeping spirits high by referencing the Dante meme – you probably know the one – on social media. Check out this tweet:

For anyone unaware, 'Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series' has achieved meme status thanks to its inclusion on the front cover of Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call's European release. It turned out that the DMC character only played a small part in the game, causing the 'Featuring' seal to be mocked and used as a meme forevermore.

All memes have to start somewhere...

Fans seem to appreciate Nintendo's effort, as you'd expect:

Sony also acknowledged the meme earlier this year for the release of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, offering up a hi-res image of the seal with a transparent background so that fans could go ahead and plonk it on anything they wish.

Video games, huh?
