Surprising absolutely no one, Game Builder Garage players are already off to an incredible start.
The game only launched on Friday, but just a couple of days in, one talented player managed to create an awesome version of Super Mario Kart. Now, another player has taken a crack at The Legend of Zelda – specifically the early build of Ocarina of Time that was discovered by fans earlier this year.
This latest build is from @MrTalida, who's shared their creation online for all to see. In the clip, we can see Game Builder Garage's blocky protagonist (suitably painted green) roaming around scenes from that early build.
Helpfully, @MrTalida's shared some comparison shots to show you just how accurate everything really is.
We've no doubt that players will continue to create new Game Builder Garage projects that astound and amaze us, so we'll keep an eye out for more impressive designs.
In the meantime, if you're still thinking about picking up a copy of Game Builder Garage, make sure to give our full review a read to see if it might be for you.
Thanks to Moblin for the tip!

Getting this game was one of the best gaming purchasing decisions I've made in a while.
@tee-cup
Hmm ok so i will buy it too mate ! ^^
Is it accurate though?
If anyone's looking for games by the way mygarage.games is a fantastic place to look, as right now it's acting as somewhat of a hub
What did I say? I knew someone was going to recreate something Legend of Zelda. I knew it from the moment they released the game.
Looks like people are gonna be getting a lot more out of this game than they did with DREAMS. LMAO.
@Chamver I mean, Game Builder Garage, even if it's technically 'more restrictive', has the advantage of being a Nintendo game, so
I’ve successfully connected the Button Nodon to the jump port of the Person Nodon, but this is pretty cool too.
That’s not how I remember Link’s hat.
Mario Maker, Miitopia, Animal Crossing, and Game Builder Garage... all seem to be games where I will be admiring the achievements of others rather than engaging with my own artistic and creative shortcomings.
I can't do it.
I wanted to, but my 1980s BASIC mentality just can't handle drawing lines for things.
I can code an infinitely scrolling tilemap in ten seconds flat with SmileBASIC, but I've tried for .. what... three days, now, to get anything vaguely similar happening in GBG, and.. I've simply tied myself in knots.
I think the best idea is to stop trying to make the kinds of games I normally make, and instead try to make games that suit the "language" better.
Baffling!!
@Bizaster Remember that this is more or less the same thing as was in LABO.. it's not "that" quick, when you consider people have already been playing with it for the past couple of years.
Why is it just a green block man running around and not a Link 3D model?
Having not played Game Builder Garage, are you able to import music into the game? Is this backing track available in the software itself? Just because it sounds a lot like a remix to a BGM from Zelda II
@Markiemania95 The music was made manually, using the note nodon that allows you to make your own music
Someone needs to make Metroid 4 with this so I don't have to wait any longer. Hehe
It blows my mind how people are amazed by this.
@HamatoYoshi It looks almost "pixel perfect"...
@HamatoYoshi it is.
@Chamver because Nintendo fans actually have an imagination. when dreams came out I saw on push square that many players were complaining about players creating penis shooters and other immature content . they were not taking the game serious which was a shame. the game has such promise and fans just wasted it. it only sold around 300,000 copies again which is a shame. Nintendo fans are taking full advantage of this great title. and the creativity is only going to get better.
@Whitestrider back in the day CVG magazine would’ve called it ‘arcade perfect’
just saw on YouTube a video of super Mario 1-1 level with Mario koopas and goombas. the level looks so amazing. love what this game is doing.
