We've seen racing wheels for car simulators, and joysticks for flight simulators, but did you know you can also get controllers for train simulators? Over in Japan, there's a new controller coming out that will allow Switch owners and train enthusiasts to take their train simulations to the next level.
The device is compatible with Densha de Go!! Hashirou Yamanote Sen - the latest entry in a long-running train simulation series that started out in Japanese arcades in 1996. The product will retail for about $134 USD in Japan and will be available starting 8th August.

This controller aims to realistically recreate what it feels like to operate a train - with levers and internal gears, and also includes all the necessary Switch buttons to navigate game menus. Basically, get ready for someone to speed run something else with it.
Right now it seems this product is a Japan-only release, so if you are interested in owning something like this, you'll probably have to import it. Do you own any unique Switch controllers yourself? Maybe a drum or a racing wheel? Leave a comment down below.

I used to have one of these and a copy of Densha for PS1! Ahh memories, Going to have to resist the temptation lol.
Any bets on how long before someone posts video of themselves beating Dark Souls with it?
You mention joysticks for flight simulators. Does the Switch actually support hotas?
id love this to come west
Okay but can it let me talk to Pikachu?
Yeah, can't wait for someone to use this thing like a boss in Grid Autosport or some other game whose Switch port was allegedly "inferior without analogue triggers".
Only buying this if I can use it to control Smash bros.
I've seen via youtube that a version of this exists with Densha de Go built in , no console required.
Nice! Too bad the Unreal Engine killed the port for me.
Now, then… Spirit Tracks remake WHEN??? 😁 🚂
I fully clicked into this expecting it to be used for some Momotaro Dentetsu update. XD Pretty cool.
Damn, that’s cool. I used to do an interstate commute via train and I’d sometimes sit all the way in the front carriage to watch the engineer through his door’s window and it really did just appear to be a few joysticks and levers.
This will be one of those peripherals that will be worth crazy money in the future.... Just waiting for someone to complete Dark Souls with it now ha!
I'm moving to Korea in July, so maybe I will get this and Densha De Go for Switch.
If the game came over this would be a interesting hardware to get.
To each their own, but I'll never underatand the appeal of train driving games, much less buy an expensive, dedicated controller for them. It seems like the most boring subject ever for a video game.
But does it Drift? It isn't a real Switch controller unless it Drifts!
I’d like a nyc subway game. You can make it Mario themed if you have to. Or Mario subway in new donk city.
This must look like a joke to people who actually drive trains for a living!
@JasmineDragon I find Densha games pretty chill. What's really nice is every station in Japan plays a different jingle when a train stops there (I assume so folk visually imparied know where they are.)
It doesn’t appear to have the click-stick buttons.
I have no games that would work with this but I want one 😂
This is the only thing I play smash with
@thanosrexxx

?????? No comment available, but like the above, I'm with Jeff Goldblum on this one
Uh, this ain't gonna head for America. For one thing, America isn't as transit-savvy as Japan.
Is it wireless?
@NickDaddyCool Can't wait to see the next Dark Souls speed run with this controller.
@PBandSmelly Please wear a conductor's hat and randomly pull an invisible line in the air while loudly saying CHOO CHOO
I think it just looks really cool.
@PBandSmelly NINJA APPROVED
Looks like I will have to buy this.
America isn't as transit-savvy as Japan.
@YoshiAngemon Yeah, I've noticed - but NYC does have quite an impressive system (the subway must have been awesome to behold when it was in better shape). Didn't I just read, though, that high-speed rail in Texas has taken a step forward? Maybe games and controllers like this will help things move along!
Can one squeeze 5318008 in Senran Kagura Reflexions with this?
Asking for an inmate.
@NEStalgia I was actually going to tag you earlier, but I thought: "nah, I'm already always bugging him with train jokes. Let's give him a pass this time around"...
Now if Densha Go has an English language option, I could be extremely close to another silly purchase.
@yandman.. yes, they should have learned by now we want this!
@YANDMAN @romanista
Sadly no English option (review here: https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/nintendo-switch/densha_de_go_hashiro_yamanote_line) but the arcade game it was based on was spotted on location test in a US arcade earlier this year, so we can hope!
