Robotality and Chucklefish have revealed that Pathway, a turn-based strategy adventure that first launched on Steam in 2019, is headed to Switch later this month. The really good news? The Switch edition is said to be "the best and most complete version" yet.
Set in the 1930s, where Nazi influence has spread far and wide, Pathway has players assembling a team of adventurers in a bid to outwit foes in strategic squad combat. It's known for its fast-paced tactics and also has you locating ancient treasures before they fall into the wrong hands; the game's received 'mostly positive' user reviews from Steam players.
The Switch version includes all post-release updates, including the Adventurers Wanted and Hardcore Mode expansions. Stefan Bachmann, Game Designer and Coder at developer Robotality, has shared the following:
"We're super excited to be bringing Pathway to the Switch. From day one we thought the game would be a perfect fit for the console. It took a lot of work to bring the game's real-time lighting effects and pixel art to Switch, but we're incredibly pleased with the results.
In our opinion, this is now the best and most complete version of Pathway with all the post-release updates, so there's no better time to jump in!"
The game's launching on Switch on 27th May, but pre-orders are going live today. If you do decide to pre-order, you'll get 20% off the £12.99 / € 13,99 / $ 15.99 asking price.
What do you think? Will you be adding this one to your Switch wishlist? Let us know in the comments.

Loved this game, fantastic Indiana Jones vibes. Glad they're bringing it over as they initially said they had no plans to. Double-dipping for sure.
This looks goooooooood!!
I tried this game out and... It was okay. It didn't really click with me, but I only played a single mission.
The battle system is okay and I genuinely like the art and style they were going for. I may just need to give it more of a chance?
It was on gamepass so price wasn't an issue.
Definitely worth checking out soon.
I’m always up for turn based strategy, and this is affordable too. I’ll look up some reviews and probably check it out.
I played this game. It's pretty decent for the starting hours, love the pixel art, but the game gets really repetitive. The combat is pretty easy so it's great for people new to the genre. I personally thought the game was mediocre because it is very samey, the only challenge is them plopping down to many numbers, not a lot of way to fight so it lack depth, and the car, which you have to get fuel for, gets old after 5 hours. It they worked on adding some depth, fixing some of the glitches and crashes the pc version suffered from, and maybe fixed some of the tedious elements it's pretty good. I'd recommend getting it on sale, full price felt a bit steep for it. It's on gamepass so try it out there. Some pros, for me are: Indiana jones style, nazis are universally hated so good choice for enemies, mysterious but disconnected events that make up the story, and special perks. Some cons are: boring due to the reused assets and copy and pasted feeling battles, versatility is low, stories are dull and long, and it could use some fixes for glitches.
I was very attracted to art style of this when it came out on PC. I heard some feedback on weak gameplay. So I skipped it. There were some bigger updates to address those issues. Now it was released on GAME PASS so I tried its very pleasant mix of Indiana Jones and Jagged Alliance. It is relaxing, easy and yes — repetitive.
I would LOVE to see a full, modern remake of Shining Force III with its three interlocking Scenarios, 190 hours of amazing and varied battles, nearly 50 total characters, and one of the best SRPG storylines ever (a dynamic the more well known Genesis games lacked). But Team Camelot is long gone, sadly, and Sega doesn't seem inclined to make much more than Sonic or Yakuza titles anymore.
I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to play through SFIII's entire story in English thanks to the decadeslong translation efforts of the Shining Force Central fan community, but I would be just as thrilled for more Western gamers to be able to experience it via an official version. Oh, and Dragon Force, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Magic Knight RayEarth, and Skies of Arcadia could all use another lease on life with a new generation of players as well.
This game looks amazing. Pixel art is gorgeous. I'm up for anything that scratches my XCOM/Advance Wars itch.
this is very cool. Will buy
I loved the last game from Chucklefish, Wargroove. This looks fun, dammit and appears at the same time as Rise of the Slime. No time for all of this great strategy gaming!
Loved this on Steam but the remarl.about sameyness is correct. You hit the endgame state for your heroes at around the third campaign and very little changes after that. If they had more tiers of gear and skills or didn't progress that swiftly, it would have worked out better, probably.
That said, it is still amazing for pick-up play, so putting it on a handheld is a great move.
Day bloody one. Such a great game.
