Monthly Kemco sale
I do wonder why they always highlight these mostly terrible games
Kemmmmmmmcoooooo
@SigmaNoire
weekly Kemco sale
fixed it for you!
does Ryan work for these guys he's always posting about them or how Mario is dead.
This crowds stuff are always on sale and never once been tempted.
Surely after awhile these aren't sales just the new price
Shame it's Kemco, fair to middling games in general. I'd love one last "goodbye" sale from Nintendo on 3DS, all the £40 games are £15-£20 and all the £15 games are half price. That would actually be an "event".
Can they not have these as standard prices now since the sales are monthly?!
However much Kemco are paying NL, it's not enough. And also too much.
Can anyone recommend any of these game? Sephirothic Stories has my interest.
Removed - unconstructive; user is banned
@SigmaNoire more like biweekly
@samuraicop
nope, range from middling to awful. Kemco are just one big joke.
seen better 99p mobile games made with RPG maker
@suikoden I did once buy about eight of their games on mobile for like 50p each — they all did seem like the most generic, RPG-maker-esque games, nothing terrible or anything, but very stock and uninteresting. I'm sure they have their hardcore fans, though!
Should have been "Another day another bunch of tat" so much junk on the switch discount page it makes it really hard to come across the hidden gems, especially when i have to wait for the page to load whilst im scrolling down. I wish N added a star rating so youcould sort by quality.
Thats weird. No reviews for any of the switch games on NL.
@__Link__ I can actually recommend all of them, to a very specific audience. They are the JRPG equivalent of the genre fiction section of your bookstore. They are quick, low-cost games that don't require much effort from players and provide them with exactly what they expect. No, they are not great, but they're not bad, either, and honestly, they're not trying to be great, so it's unfair to hold that against them. If you're in the mood for something like the original Final Fantasy but want something different because you've already played it a dozen times, these are the games for you. If that's not what you're looking for, look elsewhere.
People are being way too harsh on Kemco. They can't help that their cookie cutter plots & characters are all woefully generic. It's not their fault they all play to the tired tropes time & time again. It's an unfortunate accident that they are nowhere near as good as the classics released in the 16 and 32 bit eras. Give them some slack and buy all these game on sale to show some appreciation. Countless minutes went into producing you with this 'solid' gameplay. Hopefully, if they do well, we can expect a sequel to Wizards of Brandel, or perhaps even a movie produced by Michael Bay (one can dream). Please adopt a Kemco game today.
Out of these, Crystareino is probably the most interesting. You get to build your own party once you’ve unlocked enough characters, and get different endings based on who’s in your party/who you’ve made friends with... There’s at least one character you have to really work for. It’s not going to blow anyone away, but it feels like more effort went here. Not surprising since it’s from Hit Point... and it looks like they’ve even moved on from Kemco and been acquired by a non-Kemco company. Good for them!
Instead of these you could actually buy a good Kemco game that's on sale - Root Letter which is actually a really good visual novel.
And don't trust NL's review, the game deserves better than that.
@sikthvash Spoken like someone who has never attempted game development of any kind. If it's so easy, put one together yourself. I've got RPG Maker for Switch; I'll play your game and let you know what I think.
@JimmySpades Never once did I say game making is easy. My satirical punt at Kemco output was not an attack on you; if you enjoy them, that's fine. Maybe I haven't played them all to warrant such a scathing attack, but to me they don't stand up to the competition, let alone the benchmark set by titles during the 16 bit era. Maybe I'm just a JRPG snob. So be it.
I probably couldn't do better as I'm not a game developer. I have dabbled in RPG Maker for PC years ago and did an opening act that wold propbably last about 20-30 minutes tops, but it's pretty naff & certainly not up for critique. The only thing I used to do was create levels for Rise of the Triad and Doom 1/2 in my early teens & they took bloody ages... probably still naff too =0p
Peace out dude - sorry If I upset you.
I wouldn’t buy any of these even if they were free. KEMCO should pay us to play them.
@JimmySpades why are you taking his comments personally? He may not have developed a game but if you play enough games you get to know what is generic with very little effort put in. Unlike him the developers of these games have made countless games before many of which are under Kemco offering similar generic experiences. You are also comparing an individual making a game on RPG maker to a team of paid professionals pumping out games so that in itself isn't a fair comparison.
At this point, I think it would be more news worthy if Kemco wasn't having a sale.
@Zenszulu Responding to snark based on ignorance, which is the worst kind, is not "taking things personally". If you expect me to let such comments be, perhaps you can explain why you saw fit not to. Are you not taking it personally, using your apparent criterion?
