If you've been enjoying Harvest Moon: One World on Nintendo Switch, you'll be pleased to know that Natsume has dropped a new update addressing a couple of quality of life issues raised by player feedback.
The patch, available to download as we speak, focuses on the length of your in-game days and the lifespan of your animal buddies. Essentially, in-game time now passes more slowly, giving you more time to farm, mine, and adventure before having to pack up for the day, while your animals and pets have been upgraded to enjoy longer lifespans, meaning you can enjoy their company for longer than ever before.
If you haven't checked the game out yet, make sure to read our full review to learn all about it and see whether or not it might be for you. We'll also leave you with this handy feature list:
- Explore 5 unique and colorful areas: the sprawling grasslands of Calisson, the gorgeous beaches of Halo Halo, the searing desert heat of Pastilla, the cozy hills of Lebkuchen, and the snowy mountains of Salmiakki!
- Play as a boy or a girl and woo one of 5 handsome bachelors and 5 beautiful bachelorettes, each with their own unique personality and backstory!
- Raise and keep animals such as cows, sheep, goats, and even reindeer!
- Use your Expando-Farm to easily travel from one area to another!

These quality of life upgrades are very welcome indeed. With so much to do it was quite difficult to cram everything into one day.
This update will make my One World experience far more enjoyable. Thank you Natsume
ARE YOU LISTENING STARDEW VALLEY?
All these life-sim games should have options for the player to customise the clock speed to their own choosing, at least to a max. of real time speed.
The likes of football and racing games have let you simulate full length experiences for years, but you're telling me a life sim that requires me to farm etc. HAS to make me do everything in 10 minutes? GTFO.
Still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a mediocre Harvest Moon game. To say it politely.
@gcunit Yes, the world needs more real-time farming sims. I can't imagine anything more thrilling than planting virtual apple trees and painstakingly tending to them in real time for several real-world years before the first harvest.
Meh. This doesn't bring back my dead cow, now does it? What are you going to do about that, Natsume?
I say this as someone who's gotten 1000+ hours out of the game (some of it from my kids), but I would hope this is a nudge to Nintendo to maybe do some of their own QOL updates to New Horizons.
@gcunit To be fair Natsume should be listening to Stardew Valley for a few things too😂
Same sex marriages for one off the top of my head.
I wish the developers of Pioneers of Olive Town would do the same thing. I find the days go by in that game even quicker than they do in FOMT and Stardew Valley on Switch. Would be nice.
@CodyMKW
The official HM games haven't been that great lately either. They've all kind of just been resting on their laurels.
I was waiting on this so I could grab a unicorn mount and finally choose a pet!
