@Ryu_Niiyama I probably wouldn't wait on Best Buy that much anymore, the retail giant is planning to close more chain stores this year so unless there's a lot in your area just hope those aren't the ones getting the boot.

@SupermarketZombies They only limit their special editions, all other versions are available for unlimited quantities for weeks.

I'm keen, but I think it's absolutely stupid that there are two separate collector's editions for this. Who the hell would buy one and not the other? If one merely wants to own the game that they haven't yet played, then that is what the standard editions are for.

I was initially excited thinking that US$70 would buy me both games in a collector's box, but TWO massive collector's boxes for just two measly games? Come on.

It would have been even better if a consolidated collector's edition contained both games on a single cartridge. The games are really small anyway (both would fit on a single 8GB cartridge) which makes the decision to sell them separately all the more baffling (greed, I guess).

I'm really torn. I'll get both standard editions, if nothing else (I've never bought the games on Wii due to the first game being censored for Europe and passed on to Australia by proxy), but two massive boxes is a tough sell. I just don't have the room to keep them. Not to mention the fact that both games with shipping will cost well over AU$200 (though that's still a good deal cheaper than what I had paid for the Japanese Bayonetta box ).

@Dreamcaster-X : Not always. It varies on a game by game basis, though in more recent times, most Switch limited editions have been open pre-orders (as these ones are).

Lord, spare these overrated waggle fests from using up our precious, precious plastic...

I'm guessing the soundtracks are just 'selections' rather than the original 3 CD sets that were originally released for each game.

@Jack_Goetz : Considering that each set only includes 1 CD, then yes, that would be the case. I also appreciate you sharing that because that gives me even less reason to splurge on the collector's editions. Exclusive CDs are the most compelling collector's edition goodie as far as I am concerned. Everything else is just space-hogging tat.

@Silly_G I didn't see that it was one CD in each set. Thanks for confirming, as that makes it a no deal for me too. All I want is the full NMH2 OST on CD really. The two collectors editions side by side look really cool, but like you say, it's just space-hogging tat at the end of the day.

While I’ve bought from Limited Run before I’m getting sick of having to buy them in such a limited span of time when I could buy from my local brick and mortar anytime I choose if they have stock of the game that is.

Could we please announce physical release plans along side digital releases. The games are great fun but I'm not buying them again

@GameOtaku that's why I hate limited run, it reduces availablity and you are not able to purchase these games from normal outlets, really puts a dent in physical sales on the switch

@Mallen001 : They won't do that as it will jeopardise sales (and it's in their interest to have die-hard fans double dip on the physical release later on). I would suggest exercising discretion and making a judgement as to whether a game is likely to receive a physical release at some point and then act accordingly.

I had a strong suspicion from the outset that this would get a physical release (if not via general retail, then by a company such as Limited Run), and my instincts have been correct most of the time, and I'm usually more than happy to wait rather than regret it later.

I only tend to buy digital games if they are really small and highly unlikely to get a physical release, and the only time I have been burned so far is with DOOM 64, and the digital price was cheap enough that it didn't sting as much.

@huyi The companies who own the game IP decide to publish a game or not. LRG only exists to help games that are not going to be published by their IP owners. They are not directly competing with normal outlets as you mentioned. I understand you're frustrated about access to games but I think you are unfairly criticizing LRG with this argument. They seek out the games that are not being released in normal outlets. If Suda thought that No More Heroes I and II were going to be successful in regular big box stores, his company would be publishing these games, not LRG. Also, LRG has also used an open pre-order system for many of their big name releases. They are often open for a month or longer so I think it's a reasonable amount of time for someone to place an order. I'm sorry if you feel attacked right now but I'm trying to discredit your argument, not you personally. I'm thankful LRG exists to help keep physical collecting alive for some games that would other wise drift away. I feel like they get demonized a lot and that's unfair IMO. They are helping.

It’s a big hassle to deal with LRG compared to putting in a preorder at a store locally. For one you don’t need internet access and second you only need to put down a small down payment to have a game reserved locally vs cash up front for LRG. Product also has more concrete release dates via brick and mortar compared to LRs vague Q1 Q2 nonsense.

Is it just a strange idea to think that people who would want a physical print of remastered versions of a decade old game would want both games in one package? Am I wrong in thinking that is logical?

@Nintendofan83 In absolutely no way are they helping. Their business model isn't games preservation, it's the exploitation of FOMO. Video games are an inherently digital medium. Whether you buy at a store or download a copy to an SD card, what you have is digital information on a storage device. There is no difference to the fundamental nature of the product. There are a few minor differences, like the ability to resell, but preservation plays no part in any of them, especially when so few physical copies are produced, as in the case of Limited Run. Digital copies never disappear, meaning the game is preserved, and a physical copy which will cost a hundred dollars on eBay, if you can even find one, can hardly be said to be preserving anything.

@KingMike Both Blaster Master Zero games and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon games were separate pre-orders, too. I'm sure there are people who can't stand seeing two games on one cover, but it would be nice to have as an option.

It pays off to wait. I knew these games would get a physical release soon. I never played these games so I'm looking forward to ordering the physical copies.

They really should mention those limited run companies in the headlines, yet they never do.

Every time I click thinking that I'll be able to grab a copy in my usual online stores and to my dismal I'm not. Well, I was going to wait for a digital price drop anyway. In this case I almost prefer digital, it's a double dip in both cases. If a normal physical release is announced in the meantime, I'll decide then.

@Nintendofan83 only frustrating is that after the LRG release they give the publishing rights back to the developer. This results regularly in other physical releases. Especially in Europe the frustration can be high, as most of us usually prefer a European version over a US version and it would have saved us quite some intercontinental shipping costs. The exclusivety is also gone which is for some collectors a pain.

With their 4-5 month wait time these may very likely end up not coming out until No More Heroes 3 has already released tbh.

@Chamver It's an open pre order for all editions including the bundle from March 12th until April 11th. You've got nothing to worry about as long as you get em within that time.

I got super excited when I saw the headline but when I saw LRG I was disappointed. Not buying them now as the import tax will be too high for me.

I already own them physical on Wii, although, the first game is the original heavily censored EU release.
So I might be up for getting the first game again, just on digital.

Like, how are the motion controls? I dont mind the downgrade in visuals on the Wii. But is there button controls on the Switch version? Anything added or just a straight port?

@readyletsgo heard the motion control are good and also read that there are button controls also. They are straight ports with higher resolution. The exception is for Europeans is that the Wii version of NMH1 is censored while the Switch version is uncersored.

@Zuljaras You have it backwards. Marketing to collectors is exploiting the most exploitable.

When a game is no longer listed on digital storefronts, that is simply it going out of print. It happens to virtually every physical medium, literally every day. Yes, the Wii shop channel no longer sells games. But it did for more than a decade.
Limited Run sometimes keeps games in print for mere hours. Are you really arguing that games available for years aren't preserved simply because they're tied to a system, but games that once upon a time had a handful of copies produced that a few people could acquire if they were free that day are, simply because you can fantasize about finding an increasingly rare copy? Those would be odd criteria indeed.

Already bought the games digitally when they launched last year but I love this series and I like supporting physical releases whenever I can. Will probably go for the CE bundle.

Like some others here, I don't understand the hate for LRG. Ideally, I'd love if physical editions were widely released and available in brick-and-mortar. There are some early LRG I would have loved to buy and would be willing to buy now. But the truth is that many developers cannot find a publisher willing to put in the cost of production and distribution, especially for games originally destined to be digital downloads.

LRG is for those who prefer to have physical copies OR who like collector swag. I got burned in the past with buying digital games on consoles that no longer support re-downloading files, so I like to get physical as much as possible.

My other consideration is hard-drive space. I recently bought Ori and the Will of the Wisps physical over digital because it would have taken up 6GB of space. I will do the same for physical Hades and plan on doing so for No More Heroes. These are "larger" games in terms of size and ones I am happy to own physically - especially for longevity. I'll download things like SEGA Ages, however, or Towerfall, since they are small file sizes or don't have affordable physicals available.

@saotomemtl I don't hate LRG per say. What I hate is that it screw over people outside of the US as if we want to get them we have to pay import fee on them.

@OdnetninAges It might end up coming eventually. Streets of Rage 4 was announced as a physical release only a few months after preorders had closed for a LRG run. A publisher may decide to take advantage of the No More Heroes 3 release to publish. LRG does not get exclusivity for its releases.

@saotomemtl Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for. I actually got LRG's release of SoR4, and felt a bit burned as a result. I can't even register the game for My Nintendo points for some reason.

I'd love to get these, but as I've really grown tired of publishers being so unwilling to just do normal physical releases of their games, it makes these releases needlessly expensive, especially the shipping. Ugh...

@Zuljaras Aren't there Wiiware emulators for PC that can run a ROM of games such as Castlevania Adventure Rebirth, like they can with a Wii disc game? (serious question)

@Zuljaras I see what you mean. In terms of preservation, there's countless software that's sadly never been officially re-released, or it has but then is removed again (Simpsons Arcade). Getting it on the internet is the only preservation option in many cases.

Brought both collectors editions with it coming up to $172 luckily managed to get it for £74 thanks to savings and just conversion rates.

I’m playing NMH1 atm and it’s definitely not a complete version with that music video missing from the Switch version.

Some people enjoy physical games and special editions, some people don't care. I bought my copies digitally long before I knew about a physical release as I would have preferred physical, but it's no big deal in the end. 🤷‍♂️

Absolutely getting the double special. Played NMH1 emulated last year and loved it. Delighted to see the games get a physical version, they deserve it.

Honestly I didn't have personal Internet for the longest time, but I do now, and only pay less than 15 bucks for pretty decent internet that's good enough for gaming.

Tbh as I'm not a crash fan and despite having a preference towards physical games I'm not fussed about delays or digital only. Clearly I may feel differently if it were a franchise I was interested or invested in.

Nevertheless like most i think we are spoilt for choice with many, many quality games (& twice as many sh**e games) and have a backlog as long as our arms.

So overall I agree with you, this is not a big drama.

one thing thats bugging me is the price ti get both games $139 compare to $34.99 for both seperately which doesnt add up to the ridiculous $139 price tag.

@RiasGremory the $139 price tag is a bundle for the collectors edition of both games. The $35 price tag is for the standard editions of both games.

@saotomemtl I guess if you live in Europe LRG can be a bit of a pain to deal with because they are a North American-based company and you'd get hit with import charges. My only issue with LRG is how long it can take from order to manufacturing... but I've never had an issue where I did not get what I ordered. That and they don't purchase exclusive rights to games so after they are finished collecting pre-orders then the developer is free to issue another publisher to do another run. I'm sure depending on the game and the developer wanting to they could do a second run, but I just don't think an opportunity has arisen for them to do it.

This "collection" is rubbish without Heavenly Star.
