The first teaser trailer for Clockwork Aquario, the 1993 "lost" classic which is being resurrected for modern console this year, has been released.
Created by Wonder Boy studio Westone, Clockwork Aquario was originally destined for early '90s arcades but never saw the light of day – a casualty of the coin-op sector's obsession with one-on-one fighters in the wake of Street Fighter II.
Original creator Ryuichi Nishizawa worked with Dennis Mendel and Benedict Braitsch of Strictly Limited Games to restore and finish the game, and it's coming to Switch and PS4 sometime this year, following a delay from 2020. You can read our interview with the team behind the game here.
Strictly Limited Games is offering limited and exclusive physical editions of the game, which can exclusively be pre-ordered at Strictly Limited Games. The Limited Edition for Switch is already sold out, but the Collector’s Edition is still available (69,99€) and includes goodies such as an acrylic diorama, 2x soundtrack CDs (original & remix), a 100-Yen arcade coin and character cards. An Ultra Collector’s Edition is available for 129,99€ and includes even more good stuff, like an 18cm-tall figurine of Elle, Huck and Gush and a Shikishi.
What do you make of the teaser? Is this one on your must-buy list? Let us know with a comment.

@Xiovanni A fair point. Fixed. My excuse is that it's Friday and I'm already thinking about my weekend curry.
A "lost classic" implies history in relation to gamers playing it and liking it. If it never was released it is not a classic , only an unreleased title.
As stated: "Clockwork Aquario was originally destined for early '90s arcades but never saw the light of day "
Still very skeptical of this, gameplay-wise.
Wow, there are good games out there that don't get this kind of treatment and people don't know yet how "good" this one will even be.
Like, poster and soundtrack cd is more than enough I think.
It certainly looks like something down my alley. Hopefully it’s not a 30 minute game that’s 40 bucks
It certainly is a teaser trailer. Not much in the way of game play here, but at least we see a little bit. It may be the first public footage of this game. I've never seen anything before. Nice to see the game in motion. It definitely had a nice visual style you'd expect from Westone at the time. I hope to see much more game play soon.
Nice to see some footage, as I bought 2 standard copies sight unseen! Hoping it’s great!
@Xiovanni They should be punished for this god awful mistake.
