Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has announced that Little Nightmares II has surpassed one million units sold in its first month on sale, earning the company a brand new record.
As noted in a press release, Little Nightmares II's impressive launch makes it "the first title developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe to [reach one million sales] in this timeframe." The game launched on 11th February, releasing across Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia.
The title has received critical acclaim from the media – indeed, we described it as "one of the best cinematic platformers we've had the privilege of enjoying" – and this has been highlighted in the brand new accolades trailer found up above.
Herve Hoerdt, Senior Vice President Marketing, Content and Digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, has shared the following:
"We're very proud of the success of Little Nightmares and really grateful with how fans have embraced the universe through the games and the comics, putting their minds to work to find the wildest theories about Little Nightmares. These are two important milestones for a franchise that we have nurtured and grown within BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe and would not be possible without the amazing support from the Little Nightmares community. We can't wait to share with you what's next in the Little Nightmares universe."
With this newly-released sequel already earning one million sales, the franchise as a whole is now sitting on five million sales in total. Not a bad figure at all.
Have you played Little Nightmares II? How did you find it? Let us know in the comments.

Really didn't know Bamco Europe stuff sold so poorly and slow. Good on Little Nightmares but seems more concerning for their European output more than anything..
Yes! Keep buying more copies everybody!
Congratulations to the Little Nightmares team, this is well deserved and a great game, but this game is the first Bandai Namco game to hit 1 million copies in a month? That's strange.
Edit: NVM they were talking about Bandai Namco Europe, not the BN company overall.
I haven't even played the first one yet, didn't look like my cup of tea.
I'll have to check a let's play or something and see if it's something I may actually enjoy.
Little Nightmares 2 is on my wish list, but I've had the 1st one for a couple of years now & still haven't played it yet.
@jump @HotGoomba Think we all have been missing some fine print. The record is for games developed specifically by Bamco Europe. So the titles we typically associate with Bamco in general likely do not apply.
@Kalmaro At it's core it's a simple puzzle platformer but the story, world and characters (especially the antagonists) definitely means this should be given a playthrough. They are pretty short though so maybe wait for a sale if your not to sure.
@HollowSpectre I'll keep that in mind, I'm pretty sure that's the biggest complaint I heard, just that the dame itself wias pretty short.
I'll probably get it on PC.
And I haven't bought it yet! Looking forward to it, though.
Happy days. I found the first one a little gem, amazing game.
On my backlog. Interesting news
And deservedly so, brilliant games.
Little Nightmares II is my GotY so far, just a wonderful game and wouldn't you know it they actually shipped this game finished on DAY ONE! Incredible! It can be done!
@Kalmaro I'd advice to go in as "blindly" as possible, but with your eyes wide open. Just know it's a lot of Tim Burtonesque atmosphere, nightmarish humans and situations that are actually just "normal" (but through the eyes of little children, and I'm 33 now and still find them scary, but they never succeeded in making me part of their "normal" due to some "disorders" they "diagnosed" me with, just a few years ago. I'd give some examples, but you wouldn't go in as blind as possible then), and that the first game has terrible load times after each death, which wasn't always due to player error. All in two rather short games, but not criminally short. If you like what you see in screenshots, or games like Limbo and Inside, and the price is right, I'd say it's worth it for you.
@dluxxx ironically though, they lost the shipment of special editions of which mine was one. But found it about two weeks later and delivered it the next day and it was still just as amazing an experience, so I'm not complaining
@Shambo I'm glad you got it, that would have been heartbreaking
LN2 address ln1 issues.
So far, the only IP matching playdead’s atmospherics games limbo and inside.
@Shambo Thanks for the head-s up.
I'll def have to look into it when the price is right. Whenever that may be.
I know I can get the first one on PC for like, $4
@dluxxx I would have played it no matter what because I loved the first game, and the demo of the second proved that they still had it, and made very important technical improvements (with the loading times). But I'd never pay post-launch limited edition price, I'd get the regular version. I wouldn't have known it so I wouldn't have missed it I suppose, but that art book was a real joy to look at. I DO know however I just love the art of the series.
I bought it just haven't played it yet but I really enjoyed the first game as well as the DLC. I'm glad it's sold well for Bandai Namco Europe.
It's just a shame that Tarsier Studios will no longer be working on Little Nightmares. Hopefully whoever Bandai Namco hands the development of future Little Nightmares titles give the series the love and care Tarsier did with it.
Do you need to play the first game before this one? Gonna look into these as i’ve heard good things about the 2nd one recently.
Edit: Just realised the first game was a GWG for Jan 2021 so can try it out
People here talking about how Bandi Euro games aren't smash hits fail to understand The Witcher 3 sells well, Cyberpunk also did super well in December.
