Bethesda only dropped a teaser trailer for DOOM Eternal's The Ancient Gods - Part Two DLC a few days ago, but now, we've got a full look at what to expect. Unfortunately, because it's an age-restricted trailer, we can't embed it on the site – you'll have to visit YouTube instead.
It's launching today on other platforms, but this new trailer doesn't mention the Switch edition at all. Admittedly, that isn't too surprising, considering Panic Button's port only launched late last December, but in the meantime, Bethesda has offered this Part Two outline:
Experience the epic conclusion to the DOOM Slayer’s saga. The Ancient Gods – Part Two is the second campaign expansion to the critically acclaimed DOOM Eternal. You denied the gods and awoke an ancient evil. Now rally the scattered Sentinel armies, lay siege to the last bastion of Hell, break through the fortress walls, and face the Dark Lord himself. The soul of the universe hangs in the balance. Your war against Hell ends here.
Switch owners are yet to receive Part One, though back in 2020, Bethesda confirmed "Switch campaign expansions" are on their way. A DLC release date remains unknown, but if you've not checked out DOOM Eternal yet, we strongly recommend doing so.
Have you bought DOOM Eternal on Switch? Looking forward to the DLC campaign? Let us know below.

inb4 "where physkal releze"
Very cool. Played Doom 2016 and loved it. Not started Eternal yet
I bet a lot of the people who are refusing to buy this as they don't buy digital are the same ones complaining that they won't be able to buy the digital version of 3D Allstars next month.
Doom with a story similar to Diablo. The eternal wars between heaven and hell.
Interesting. I’m intrigued.
I'm waiting for a physical release. Or for SD cards larger than 1 TB to be a thing.
Fingers crossed for a physical soon.... please!
You know I just now looked at the articles main image for the first time and I'm thinking; "Did the developers at Bethesda even know what DOOM was? Or were they too busy watching the MCU for 50th time?"
Remember Bethesdas big interview where they said that they didnt understand why people were releasing Switch games after the other consoles and that they were always going to aim for release at the same time?
Physical release ffs
@ImBackBB The developer is Id Software, Bethesda is the publisher. As to your point, I think it's safe to say the people at Id have played DOOM, check wikipedia to find out why.
@Branovices
Then either the veteran developers have moved out and hired new ones, the veterans have completely forgotten what it's about, or they're trying to be "hip" to win over millennials and zoomers that are into overpowered capeshite.
Today I finished the base Doom Eternal and it was fantastic! Hard but the carnage was so satisfying!!!
Also @stinky_t I want my phozekial relez now!!! No phazikal relezz NO buy!!!
@Mr-Fuggles777
That's a very unfair comparison lol. At least with 3D All-Stars, they have a choice between physical and digital, even though it's limited-time.
It just doesn't seem like Doom anymore. Eternal was such a let down after the incredible 2016 game.
I always wonder how Doom would be like if there ever were Biblically accurate angels as enemies alongside demons.
@ImBackBB have you played Doom? It's always been about a massive power fantasy dripping with edge with the art looking like it was ripped right from DnD and a Meat Loaf album cover. The first game you're a space marine literally murdering demons with a shotgun on Mars while listening to heavy metal. You can't get much more power fantasy.
@Wexter
I didn't say anything about power fantasy, I said it was OVERPOWERED. The point of the classics was that were an ordinary human with a shotgun and the occasional hightec blaster and temporary Beserker.
Now you're this mythological God that Hell is afraid of, it's all RIP AND TEAR and over the top villains and scenarios that come out of a current gen Marvel movie. It's become a shallow parody of it's former self.
I'm guessing at some point in the future they'll probably drop both parts on Switch at the same time with little buildup like they did with the original release of the Switch version.
@ImBackBB I strongly disagree. Because spoilers Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal are sequels to Doom 64 in which Doom Guy became the eternal punisher of demons in Hell. So they built a fear around this madman who keeps coming and wrecking their s***. And Eternal explains a lot of what happened between Doom 64 and Doom (2016). This is not an MCU influence it is the natural escalation of classic Doom to a modern era without sacrificing the gameplay for "realism". As Modern Doom's fast and frenetic gameplay has merged the story with gameplay in a natural way. Hence my question have you ever played Doom?
Don't worry. To get the Uber DLC's to work, Microsoft told Bethesda to make them look like the old snes graphics.
@ImBackBB
You kill more Demons in the originals than in 2016 and Eternal together.
Also, the Gameplay is pretty much an Evolution of the classic Gameplay.
There is no other AAA Game that has such one that has clearly Quake mixed, has plattforming and is gameplay focused.
I think it is rather you that has forgotten how Shooters were in the 90s and early 2000s.
Also, Doom 1 and 2 is a Game that Millenials born in the 80s like me experienced live.
@Azuris @Wexter
Oooh, so sorry that I offended you for thinking that modern "DOOM" doesn't live up to the classics in my opinion.
Also because they retcon something and "evolve" the gameplay I'm just supposed to accept it?
Jeez, just because some people don't like the modern games doesn't mean they haven't played the classics.
@ImBackBB ahhh you feel called out because two random people on the internet pointed out the ignorance of your initial post? How quaint. I just find it funny because the plot point you're complaining about was the ending of Doom 64. That's not a retcon that is the ending of Doom 64. If you don't like the gameplay of Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal that is fine, but don't pretend Doom was not an overpowered fantasy as you just come off as looking ignorant and silly to the point that people raise their eyebrows wondering if you've even played the classic games or even the modern games.
Also the old games were super silly. One chapter in Doom you're getting revenge on the demons because they killed your pet rabbit Daisy. Or how in Doom II you're the only one who can kill the demons from the spaceport and save mankind because... Reasons. The best guns in the game are called the BFG (aka Big F***ing Gun) and the Super Shotgun. Doom has always been 90s edge mixed with a light hearted goofiness placed very firmly in cheek.
@Wexter
Okay, here's a mega big brain moment for you: If I haven't played the classics and/or modern ones, then why would I be wasting my time commenting on them?
And for the last time, YES I AGREE that it was a power fantasy but it wasn't OVERPOWERED.
"Doom has always been 90s edge mixed with a light hearted goofiness placed very firmly in cheek." Okay that I sort of agree on, but the modern ones completely throw that out of the window.
@TDRsuperstar2 i agree they better give us a physical copy with all dlc included or there be extremely pissed off gamers including myself who werent too happy over the cancelling fiasco.
@ImBackBB Because when you say something really dumb about a game you've played then people ask if you've ever played it. It's like people who played Zelda and call Link, "Zelda". Or people who played Megaman X and ask where Roll is or why Megaman is called X. The comment about Doom Eternal looking like an MCU knockoff is kinda insulting when the Doom aesthetic has always been DnD meets heavily metal album art... which is exactly what Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal look like... Doom Eternal even took the older designs of the demons and even copy and pasted them into Eternal tossing aside some of the more modern looks of the demons from Doom (2016)
And what I'm trying to understand is where you think they tossed out the 90s edge with joking irreverence? In Doom (2016) as soon as the "story" starts Doom Guy can toss the monitor aside and just continue shooting up some demons ignoring the plot (reminding us of the old id adage that story in a shooter is like a story in a porno). The collectables are little Doom Guy funko pop looking things and in Eternal, you can even see a demon playing when them when you return from the final mission. Not to mention there is an arcade mode where you get graded on how many demons you've killed, how quickly you did it and how stylish you've done it in. That is some old-school DMC ***** in my Doom. That and when you kill demons they brought back the giblets where they explode into gory gooey confetti. That and when you glory kill some demons they look like they are about to sh** themselves which always brings a chuckle to my face. So I really do not understand your point when I even pointed out your one legit beef with the story "Doom Guy being treated like a God (which he's not)" and how that was a continued plot point based on the ending of Doom 64 which was the last of the classic Dooms.
@Wexter
Good god, you're such an over winded bore...
@ImBackBB So you don't have a proper rebuttal so you've resulted to name-calling? How old are you? I'm going with 12.
Still awaiting a physical copy limited edition 😩
Wow. Much argument over nothing lol.
@ImBackBB
You don't have to like it, but your Arguments and how you formulate them in a offensive Way is just provocative.
What sort of Answers do you expect after that you self got onto the high Horse talking about the bad Taste of everybody born between 1980 and 2000?
@Azuris It's not even that his arguments are formulated offensively (unless you're a fan of good rhetoric)... they are just bad faith arguments. If you like new Doom you have to be a millennial or Gen Z who does not have taste and loves MCU movies (even though the MCU really has a wide range of movies and very few people like all of them). And when you point out the issues with his arguments like how Doom 64 set the standard for how Doomguy is characterized in the newer games then he goes... well that's a retcon. Yeah it is a 20 year old retcon that was a sequel to Doom II. And when you pressure him to explain his arguments with examples he goes "you're a long winded bore."
But, what do I know to him I'm probably a zoomer leftist (even though I don't think he ever asked what my political leanings are) who likes MCU movies and didn't come out of my mother's womb smoking Marlboros and sipping whisky.
@Strumpan pretty sure there’s already 2tb sd cards mate
Waiting for physical. Still. Waiting for physical.
@Abweegee Cool, I tried to google for them but couldn't find any. Do you know where I can find them?
@Strumpan
If they exist, not sure they do, they would be prohibitively expensive.
But it is good Nintendo has Switch future proofed for them (quite unlike Nintendo).
