What would happen if you mixed Wave Race 64 with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and then added in violent gun-wielding animals and threw them into an arcade-style arena together? You might just get Wave Break.
It's really a little bit of everything, although it's described as a "skateboating game" set in an "80s Miami Vice" inspired world. Developer Funktronic Labs has now announced it'll be coming to the Nintendo Switch and PC "late" this Spring.
The game allows you to play with friends (via split-screen local play) and online against players from around the world. The modes include Trick Attack, Deathmatch and Turf War.
There'll also be a campaign mode, featuring an "episodic storyline" involving guns, kickflips and blood money. Oh, and there's a "fresh synthwave" soundtrack to back it all up. Like the look of this game? Tell us below.

Looks like it’s pretty fun, but I don’t really care for the blood. Hope that there’s an option to turn it off.
One could say that they ‘jumped the shark’ with the guns. Should’ve left that out. Doesn’t seem to suit the game. I have no problem with guns in games. Just guns in this game. It begs the question... why?
I suppose Miami Vice was an inspiration for them but the realistic guns look so jarring when juxtaposed against the cutesy characters... Maybe the game is supposed to be darker and more grimy than this trailer lets on, but if not, then I think they should consider re-texturing their weapons to be more colorful (like Nerf guns or something).
I agree with the opinions here so far. Would actually be a bit "cooler" if they would handle the gun stuff a bit more ironic.
But overall it looks like fun. I miss these type of games and be happy about everything that comes from that direction.
I am going to say there will be a lot of controller issues with this. Just going to take the guess there.
Other than that it has very little substance to it so a pass for me unless it’s under $5 usd
Banned !
I already sensed something very unacceptable.
I misread that as "'80s-inspired skateboarding game" and was hoping for a reboot of Skateboard 720°.
Game looks fun though
@Rambler Yeah I was expecting some sort of skateboarding game.
Umm....Yeah. Wave race skateboarding mixed with guns is a thing.
I actually did a double take when I saw a M rating when I originally thought it was just a simple tony hawk game but with water.
Either way, lets see how this combination goes.
Looks crap. "Late spring" is long way off for the southern hemisphere so alert me know when we're much closer.
I feel like there is a bit too much going on. Like it stapled a bunch of games together and hoped it would be fun. Ill wait and see.
Why invoke skateboarding when there isn't a single skateboard in the video? I like what I saw but that bugs me...
Game looks crazy fun!!
BOAT OR DIE!!
@Rambler My mind to Skate or Die.
Hmm. Memory really is fleeting nowadays. Seems like people have forgotten about games like Conker 's BFD and the fact that there's a space for games like that. Especially nowadays if we're being inclusive. If we could have practically a whole direct dedicated to various forms of cat simulators, we should be thankful we still have developers willing to break trends to make games like this. I'm pretty sure theyve heard time and time again about the guns and there's still time to make known what the games all about. Its just a trailer and mini dive, relax I don't think we need the censorship police just yet. Its been on pc already and there's still no correlation between this game and youth gun violence. Let the game live.
Did not expect quite a reaction on here to this. Other than Anti of course.
The creator of this used to pop into the videogame board on 4chan and show progress of his game over the past few years. Cool to see it's coming out and getting properly published.
Though, the last time I seen it there were no guns. Not sure I like that addition. I don't see the point really.
The Park Creator itself got me more interested in the game.
i really love missing around with that in Tony Hawk's Underground 2.
Looks like an HD N64 game, don't really care for the characters, or the skate/trick plus a gun mechanic.
