Crash Bandicoot has witnessed one heck of a revival in recent years. Whilst we continue hoping for a Switch port of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (any day now, right?), we've already seen two fantastic games with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled since 2018, so we could completely believe that an animated TV series was in the works, too. If rumours are to be believed though, this has sadly been cancelled.
Initially leaked via Reddit on r/crashbandicoot, the original post advised this show was in the works between Activision and Amazon for the last year. It also contained alleged test footage and claimed it was cancelled due to disputes over the script. That post has since been deleted, but the footage has been posted elsewhere, though how long that'll stay up is unknown.
It wouldn't have been Crash's first outing in animation, either. Animated cutscenes were planned for the original adventure before getting cut by Sony and back in 2007, several web-films were produced in connection with Crash Of The Titans. More recently, he also appeared within Skylanders Academy, tying in to his Skylanders: Imaginators role.
Considering this rumored series has never been publicly acknowledged, it's unsure whether Activision or Amazon will comment on this leak. So for now, all we can do is wait and see.

This is one of those things were it could have been absolutely amazing or a big dumpster fire. Unfortunately we will apparently not find out.
I didn't know they were planning to make one to begin with. It's a shame. At least his recent comeback has been a success, I hope it continues.
Not sure how to feel about this. I'm a huge Crash Bandicoot fan, but that 30-second tease didn't do much for me, so I can't say I'm too disappointed. The art style and voiceover may not have been finalized if it was just a working pilot, though, so there could have been potential. I'm not a fan of Cortex's voice here--it'd be great if they had gotten Clancy Brown or someone back, since he's still going strong as the voice of Mr. Krabs.
The animation also gives off too many Cuphead vibes for me, and I feel it should have been closer to something like Ren and Stimpy or Looney Tunes, which Crash's design was originally inspired by. Ironic, considering I also adore Cuphead, and people say the Netflix cartoon looks too much like Ren and Stimpy. Maybe Netflix and Amazon should have traded projects. (Or better yet, Netflix picks up the series since they've been killing it with both original animation and video game adaptations.)
Even if I have subjective problems with the art direction, the animation certainly looks fluid, and as a 2D purist, I'm very glad they at least didn't go the easy route and make it CG like the games. I sincerely hope this isn't the last we see of a Crash cartoon and that someone with a more clear vision will be given the opportunity to make something really special. Having Mario in cinemas in the same year as a Cuphead and Crash Bandicoot series would have been incredible. I want something that isn't just a Roadrunner knockoff that relies on slapstick though, where Crash is completely silent and serves as an annoyance to Dr. Neo Wile E. Coyote Cortex, which was my takeaway from this clip; something that embraces the absurd hilarity of Twinsanity would be perfect.
Edit: Lol, I just noticed the live-action Crash mascot can be seen dancing on Cortex's monitor in the last second of the clip. I really doubt the legitimacy of that being in an early pitch for internal use only and am starting to think this might be an elaborate hoax. Hope I'm wrong, though. It certainly falls in like with that absurd humor I was talking about.
It’s crashed and burned.
@chewytapeworm They should hire you to name the Crash levels. They all include puns of a similar caliber.
Why does "Crash" look like Stimpy?
Good f anything amazon.
@Silly_G That's exactly what I came here to say!Ah,I LOVED Ren And Stimpy back in the day.(even enjoyed the megadrive game)
Unfortunate, that little clip was perfect!
@Not_Soos
Man, do they ever! Not much in the first game, but from the second onwards... hoo boy! Snow Biz, Sewer or Later, Double Header, Bee-Having, Bear It, and who could forget... PISTON IT AWAY. Yeah, it's a level name.
@AlexSora89 Crash 2 is my favorite game in the franchise! I've gotten kind of burned out on playing it so much in the N. Sane Trilogy, but just hearing those level names is making me nostalgic, haha. I might just have to dip back in soon for the millionth time! I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion, but I personally hold it in equally high esteem with Super Mario 64.
I don't like it lol. It's like the Sonic Cartoon, not the Saturday morning one. The other one.
I was a bit bummed at first, but then I read "collaboration between Amazon and Activision"...
Eh, could've been alright with some more polished animation. Shame we'll never know, really...
There was going to be a crash cartoon?
