About time I guess. Kinda torn between getting it for PS4 or Switch. Anyone know if the Switch version is SIGNIFICANTLY worse or not? I don't mind frame drops happening every so often like with Age of Calamity

Finally!!!!! I've been waiting for this game to be released or talked about for a whole year and I was almost close to getting the Japanese version because I was starting to lose hope on it ever releasing in the western areas.

I was waiting for the switch version since it was reveled to Japan, but if they confirm Steam version it will the the chosen one

@Axel-Bit From what I've heard and seen, the only egregious loading time of note is entering the Velvet Room. Aside from that, of course, the game's loading overall is obviously slower than PlayStation, but the aforementioned Velvet Room instance seems to be the only time where it is especially bad.

Hopefully it will be officially announced next week along with Persona 5/Royal finally being ported.

@Ghostchip Nobody was expecting Tokyo Mirage Sessions. But, taken on its own, it's a fun, interesting experience. I think the reaction would have been better if it hadn't been announced as a crossover, because, frankly, it just feels like it's own thing with some Fire Emblem designs tossed in for good measure.

@Ralizah oh I am not discounting a good game but I won't play it it's just not as good as megaten games and I like fe more than megaten. It's like watered down megaten from what I see. I think it's good for what it is. The problem is fe x megaten was a match made in HEAVEN and it should have maybe been like devil survivor or focused especially on one part of characters while using the others gameplay (mostly megaten characters but it is fe combat and one or two characters of huge story importance from fe or a full megaten game with like 1 or 2 megaten characters and mostly fe characters but that's just my opinion). I feel this game just radiated potential and turned out different from what they lead us to believe. If people knew it would be like this immediately I think it'd be fine

Yeah thousands upon thousands loved TMS. While it's obviously not as popular as Persona, it still has fans. Yes it was marketed poorly and not what people were expected, but it was still a great game. In fact, TMS was the game that got me into both SMT and FE.

Because of that game, I went ahead and bought Three Houses (my new favorite RPG) and now I'm excitedly waiting on SMT 3 and SMT 5 for next year. Atlus needs to bring more games to the Switch. Not everyone owns a PS4. And I'm not very interested in Persona (unless the Switch version of this game contains stuff related to TMS), so I'm waiting to see what else they bring over.

@JR150 oh yeah I heard this games great haha I just always thought it was more of a play this and after playing that you will want the rest of the franchise kind of deal and since I had played both franchises I didn't see a poijt ya know. Oh and tms is a lot like persona actually from what I here especially in the story department with the side missions except I think persona obviously does a better job as that is the focus of the game while in tms I hear it's a minor bit of it

Unless it's coming alongside a surprise announcement that Persona 5 Royal is coming to Switch as well, I am not interested.

I refuse to buy the spinoff game until we get the main title.

I know, but I want something different from Atlus. Having already played TMS, I don't want something also like TMS because I've already been through a light-hearted game from them. That's why I'm looking forward to SMT 3 and 5--the hardcore ones.

@Axel-Bit the switch version is vastly inferior to the ps4 version. I'd recommend the ps4 version, but if you have a decent pc, i'd suggest getting it on steam.

@JR150 all I have to say after playing smt and hearing a lot about tms: persona is a unique experience you won't regret. It sets itself apart in so many ways. This is a wonderfully weird game that owns everything like it isn't even weird. These games are an experience you wont see else where trust me give it a whirl. Also the only real comparison with tms is that it has social links but tms had bad ones for the most part. Persona has good ones. And I can't really explain it. It puts you in a zone I've never felt with another video game of going through my calendar not different to fe three houses. It's really unique and you should try it. I recommend persona 4 g on steam since you'd not have a ps4, if not on the vita persona 3 portable and also persona 4 golden. Ps2 and ps3 have the console versions of these games ps3 has persona 5 I think ps2 has 3 and 4

I don't normally place games on my PC since it's not very good for gaming, but I'll consider it. It's not one of my priorities, though. I'm more interested in SMT and collecting folklore demons. Not to mention SMT 5 is a brand new game created just for Switch and not a port of an old one--I really want something new for a change.

@JR150 well do I have good news for you: the demons you collect in these games are literally the same as megaten. By the way persona 4 golden is like 20 bucks I think that's pretty cheap for what is called the best vita game. Yeah these games are very fresh takes on the smt series so they are worth a shot for any smt fan for how they turn the formula on it's head

That sounds nice but I still want to experience a real MegaTen game focused on killing gods and the end of the world first before I go for the spin-offs focused on friendship. Thanks for the recommendation, though. XD

You can get Persona 5 on PS3 or PS4 for about 10 bucks nowadays. Royal isn't much more expensive either.

@nessisonett It's weird I was playing this game before I just started to look at this article and I'm about 30 minutes away from the ending of the game y'know when he puts a knife to the guy with the shades and then makes the deal and I don't know I just don't feel like vincent is a bad person I mean (without spoiling)the sucu you know what wasn't real and he was stressed out plus in the dreams he was so nice and helpful to everyone he met and even after getting beat in the BR in the bar by the sucu you know what he still tried to make everything right and made up and still got (SPOILER WARNING SO I WON'T SAY) but still I feel like he's a decent human being even though he made some mistakes also his reaction to rin was pretty crappy but I'd be pretty shocked too also he made it up with her

@GameOtaku I hope for it everyday I beg and dream and wish and even pray for it sometimes but deep down inside I know it may never happen sadly but this port give me hope bc if it sells well that will communicate to Nintendo and Altus that we're serious about a P5/royal port and they might actually consider it also I would love 1-4 and the Q games just as much especially 4 and Q2

@Axel-Bit Frame rate is half of the PS4 and then drops even more. Also Switch takes approximately 6 times longer to load than PS4, and 30 times longer than if you play it on a PS5.

I’ll get this on Switch but not sure if I want it at launch. My 2021 is already getting stacked. Plus I still have all those BF games I bought to play.

Gonna be getting it on Switch eventually but since I have Age of Calamity and 3D World + coming out, I'll wait a few months.

@GameOtaku sorry to disapoint you, but Persona 5 might never release on Switch, Persona is a third party franchise exclusive to Sony consoles, just like Shin Megami Tensei is exclusive to Nintendo consoles.

Persona 4G is on Steam so no it’s not Sony exclusive. SMT 3 Nocturne was on a Sony console originally and it’s remaster is on Sony and Nintendo platforms so it’s not totally exclusive as you claim either.

That precedent is just ridiculous. Why should consumers buy the direct sequel to a narrative driven game to spoil the fun of the game you want ported? The whole buy this game if you want another is just illogical.

@GameOtaku I know but to be fair I gave up like a year ago this Christmas I'm buying a whole PS4 just to play this game and I mean we could communicate that we want a P5/royal port by asking and telling and begging for a port from ATLUS but I mean we've been doing that and not even a single teaser and this spin-off is about as close as well get sadly and I mean I try to stay hopeful but some companies just aren't keen on putting certain games on switch but which sucks bc I just finished Catherine full body and it's one of my favorites now it was amazing

I fully believe a port is coming. If there was no way it could come they would not lead us on asking in surveys and the rep would never have said to keep asking for it. The rep is apparently still around and not been fired so they didn’t reply without precedent.

Sony has no power over the Persona franchise since they do not own the IP. Sega, which owns Atlus, is needing a big injection of cash flow and a port of a well received game that consumers are telling them they would buy it is honestly a no brainer. Simple supply and demand. The demand for P5/R is high on Switch. There is currently no supply of it on Switch. Ergo porting it will meet demand and net sizable bandage for a hemorrhaging company!

@GameOtaku I know that's why I'm so confused they haven't announced a port or even teased it like I don't get it it would sell great and switch owners would probably pay 50 or 60$ just for the og it's a win-win but maybe there's some kinda reason there's no port maybe I'm missing something I just don't get it why won't they port it

I don't have a 3DS so no. I'm just more interested in a purely SMT-focused game without the complexity of relationship building. And I also want a new game, so SMT V has my attention.

@GameOtaku @SMUGSLOTH69 totally agree, and for me, after all things happened with P5 port on Switch, whenever news about P5 on Switch, i just feel tired. Honestly, i tired of trying to understand Sega/Atlus decision. P5S coming to Switch is great news for some player, but since it came reallllly late and without a port of original game, for me, a fan of Persona, and just start play P5, i don't have reason to buy this.

@3dvCuong12 I get it I hope it happens one day and I normally am really hopeful about SWITCH ports I mean look at the system Borderlands,Bioshock,AC,Catherine,Cuphead,and even the Witcher 3 have all come to SWITCH that all gave me so much hope for the future of ports for the system but like 5 or 6 certain series refuse to come to SWITCH and it makes no sense everyone else ported their games why can't they especially EA,Rockstar(yes I know they brought over L.A Noire),and ATLUS it just makes no sense especially bc Ubisoft,Bethtesda,Microsoft,and 2K are so chill about supporting the system (even though 2K was kinda late with their support and the only good things they've ported are everything but NBA 2K) if only we lived in a perfect world were the Persona,Mass Affect,and Sims series were all on SWITCH
