If you've ever wanted to play as Master Chief on the Switch, now you can...in the battle royale game Fortnite. At the 2020 Game Awards yesterday, the rumour about the protagonist of Xbox's Halo series joining Epic's insanely popular title came true.
The Chief is available for 1500 V-Bucks, or you can get his entire set for 2600 V-Bucks. His pack comes with a UNSC Pelican Glider, a holographic Elite skull and a Gravity Hammer Pickaxe. In addition to this is a Lil' Warthog emote.
To celebrate the addition of this new outfit, there's also a recreation of the Halo multiplayer map Blood Gulch in Fortnite Creative. Here you can play a game of Capture the Flag. Find it in the 'Featured Hub' section of the game.
Master Chief follows on from the announcement of the God of War, Kratos. These characters are also being joined by Daryl Dixon and Michonne from The Walking Dead series. Will you be booting up Fortnite to see the Chief in action? Comment below.

Now only samus aran is left.
Forced myself to play through the first Halo game years ago, was such a boring slog of a game so never touched the rest. Music was great though and Master Chief himself is a cool character design.
As for Fortnite, I am over 12 years old so not interested.
(just on the wind up re Fortnite but my thoughts on Halo are real, boring af game)
Eh couldn't really care less but nice for the Fortnite fans
@TheFullAndy Yeah I tried playing the first game and just couldn’t get into it, just felt like I was shooting and killing things for no reason. Much bigger fan of Metroid Prime, although I know they’re pretty different games.
@darkswabber If we get her please say there is an option to upgrade the skin to zero suit or it comes unlocked
@SimplyCinnamon53 @TheFullAndy I played the first Halo game back in 2012 (more specifically, the Anniversary edition), and I fell in love with the game. Since then, I have bought all of the games except for Wars and Wars 2 (not too big in the RTS genre).
But I guess it's an acquired taste for some. I just loved the story, the lore, and especially the music. And it blew me away that the voice actor for Master Chief, Steve Downes, lives only about 40-50 miles away from me, and works for my favorite classic rock radio station, 97.1 FM The Drive WDRV.
Well there goes his chance in Smash, lol
@SimplyCinnamon53 @AstroTheGamosian
I am not kidding when I said I had to force myself through it, my mates were telling me how amazing it was so I powered through thinking it would all click at some point.
Nope.
I was already not enjoying myself when I met the Flood and the game became even more of a slog. Just remember going through some massive ship with identikit hallways and it was all so tedious.
Just not for me.
But different strokes and all that!
Edit: Cool fact about Steve Downes!
@TheFullAndy That sounds like the Library to me. Worst level in the entire original trilogy. Even us Halo vets (first played Halo 2 back in 2004!) hate that level for its tedium.
Remember when everyone said Samus would get in at the Game Awards?
@Jakiboy I have I have pretty much conceded that the remainder of the DLC will be filled out with sword fighters and/or other characters that have little to no appeal to me.
@AnnoyingFrenzy
Aye it must have been the library, what a slog that was.
Regarding your Samus comment I wouldn't rule it out. We had Sony, now Microsoft so naturally Nintendo is next and only 3 Nintnedo characters I can imagine being allowed to run around with guns: Samus, Fox or Captain Falcon. One of those three I reckon.
I also think it will be revealed in a surpise Nintendo Direct this month followed by the Smash deep dive into Sephiroth. Purely a guess but got a gut feeling.
We need Samus!!!!
@TheFullAndy Ah, I should specify I meant specifically for the Game Awards. That said I kinda doubt any Nintendo rep will get in, but stranger things have happened, who really knows.
Fortnite doesn't have much to it, but the bigger team mode does enough for me. After putting the game down for nearly a year (I was very nearly brought back in with Deadpool) I've downloaded it again onto my Switch to make sure I aquire the full Mando skin and grab Chief. I really like the two characters and I may look at grabbing Kratos if he is ever available again. Would love to see a Nintendo rep in there as well to complete a trio but with them not knowing where Fortnite's future may go I can't see them allowing a character over. If Fortnite was a definitive game, out of a package then maybe.
@AnnoyingFrenzy
No worries, Fortnite is a big deal on Switch so I think it will happen just a question of who.
@TheFullAndy My hangup is that Kratos and Master Chief are appearing in Fortnite on Switch, but I'm not sure Nintendo will allow Samus or whoever to appear on PlayStation and Xbox, just doesn't seem like something they'd do. I guess they could make Samus exclusive to Switch, but is that something Epic Games would want? Stranger things have happened, so we'll just have to wait and see.
@AnnoyingFrenzy
Great advertisement for Prime 4 or the rumoured Samus Returns Switch port.
Plus if Nintendo doesn't allow a Nintendo character on other systems after Sony and Microsoft have it won't look great.
@TheFullAndy Ah yes, because Nintendo is on a roll with looking great recently.
@AnnoyingFrenzy
Well let's not get into that! But this is a pure marketing opportunity so can't see them passing it up.
All will be known soon.
@TheFullAndy Sorry, couldn't resist a little jab. I agree the marketing opportunity is strong, and if any series needs better marketing its Metroid, but still I remain skeptical of Nintendo being willing to do it. We shall see in a couple months probably.
Can we ban fortnight please he should been in smash
Would rather have master chef 🙊
Honestly I say samus would fit the best out of all the nintendo characters. My only issue is they are going to have to do some alterations to the suit. Like removing the arm blaster.
If I am not mistaken the default look is available for all consoles but isn't there an exclusive version for people playing on the system they are from. Like kratos has an exclusive skin on playstation. Master chief has one on xbox so I would assume the same would be for Samus on switch (which should be the zero suit skin).
I understand that Nintendo may not want Samus on other systems but the same could be said for Playstation with kratos. (Before you say that sony is dabiling with having PC ports they have stated that they don't see PC as competition). I would assume they would have had to get the go ahead to have a mascot for each console manufacture before going ahead with it. If one said no then the rest would say no (maybe microsoft would still go ahead with it but defo not playstation or nintendo if the other said no).
@AnnoyingFrenzy
That level was just lazy design on Bungie’s part.
My favorite level of the trilogy is “The Covenant” on Halo 3.
@TheLightSpirit
It’s hugely popular.
I play it mainly because it’s the one game me and my friends can all play together on. Plus it plays well on less than stellar broadband, of which two of us suffer from.
I will admit I’m getting burned out on it. Fortnite has become the sweatiest of all the try hard “pro esports” games.
@TheRedComet The Covenant is a great level, probably the best one in Halo 3. My personal favorite level in the original trilogy has got to be Cairo Station from Halo 2, but that's most likely my nostalgia goggles talking since Halo 2 was my first Halo game.
Never liked HALO back in the day whatsoever........until I got the Master Chief Collection for my original Xbox One and found a new love and appreciation for them. That collection, along with Sunset Overdrive are probably my favourite Xbox One games that I played.
is this some kind of joke? Master Chief ended up in the wrong game! He is suppose to be in Smash!
I'd rather just revisit Halo in the Master Chief Collection on PC at some point.
It really makes me sad how successfully Epic Games have brainwashed millions of kids into thinking the money pit that is Fortnite is just "normal". Games like Fortnite are warping the whole industry.
I can't see nintendo joining the fun unless samus is switch exclusive
@TheLightSpirit people still comment on things they dont care about.... oh ok
Your move Nintendo.
Not that interested in Fortnite (especially as the best modes are missing from switch).
Not that it will ever happen but as we are talking Master Chief, I would love to see the Master Chief collection ported across.
Halo had some of the tightest gunplay on any console, im pretty sure i still have the plasma pistol - magnum swap ingrained into my muscle memory from those legendary solo runs.
Where is my overwatch skin
