Finally bought these a week ago at full price. Ah well, always the way, enjoying them regardless. Had a great time playing original Zelda last night as nature intended (never owned it when I had a NES first time round).
Might be asking a daft question but, can they be used as regular Switch controllers or are they just for use with NES or NSO games?
£14 for delivery to Ireland, no thanks!
@Inc Nintendo say "Nintendo Entertainment System Controllers are compatible with Nintendo Switch software titles that require only the directional buttons and A/B/L/R Buttons"
It’s a good price but £8.90 for delivery is a bit too much
@1UP_MARIO Yeah, and when mine arrived on Monday they looked like they'd been under an elephant's backside from Germany to here. Controllers were fine but the packaging wasn't. Didn't see how it justified the premium for packaging.
As long as they don't drift I'll consider them one day. /sarcasm
@Inc
Basically, they are for playing NES games. You may use them for other games but lack of 2 shoulder and 2 face buttons makes them useless in most cases.
Come on Nintendo, how about SNES ones??
Thanks for the info. As they were on offer I thought they might be a cheap way of picking up an extra set of joy-cons. Sounds like they're not worth it unless you're going to be playing those NES games a lot.
I just use my NSO SNES controller for NES games. I didn't want to splurge on both, mostly play solo, and have one designated controller for all things retro.
Although, I have always liked the fact that these can be charged on your Switch console. Very clever design choice.
@readyletsgo The delivery to Ireland is just way too expensive.
bought them last time they were on sale together with the snes one. Like them so far. They also work with mario 35 and are my prefered way to play! Also, you can pair them with 8bitdo receivers and then use them on the nes classic, a real nes/famicom or your pc/pi.
The sales never seem to happen in NA. And the SNES controllers never seem to even be available.
Thank god for 8BitDo
I loved NES games at the time but let's be honest, most haven't aged that well. As such don't think I'd invest in these.
