Echtra Games' Torchlight III launches today on Nintendo Switch, and a brand new trailer has been released to get you in the mood.
The game will have you exploring the vibrant world of Novastraia, hack’n’slashing your way through quests and boss battles across randomly-generated areas. This new Switch version makes use of the console's touch screen, should you want to play on-the-go, and also grants players access to an exclusive red fairy pet, the Ashen Glittersprite.
Max Schaefer, CEO of Echtra Games and co-founder of the Torchlight franchise, has shared the following:
"The time has come for Nintendo Switch players to gather their wits and brave the frontier! Torchlight III is a fun adventure in an epic, care-free world with light-hearted themes, monsters, items, and characters that everyone can enjoy. The game is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch as both new and longtime ARPG players can easily pick up and play this adventure and have a great time spending countless hours dungeon crawling. For all you Nintendo Switch players who are pet lovers out there, don’t worry, we didn’t forget about you — we hope you love the extremely cute yet deadly exclusive Ashen Glittersprite pet as much as we do!"
We recently spoke to Echtra's Michael May to bring you a full guide of insider tips for the game, providing lots of great advice on how to make the most of the different classes, their abilities, how to use relics, forts and the Legendarium system, and more.
Make sure to check that out to get the most out of your shiny new copy of Torchlight III, or – if you're still on the fence – feel free to keep an eye out for our full review which is coming soon.

frenetically refreshes to see the review
Are we soon yet?
More like a hard avoid given its atrocious reviews.
@cheesedude what I've seen are mostly "ok" reviews, in the 6-7 range. Not atrocious. But yeah, definitely not what I would have hoped...I still have some hope that they can improve the game quite a bit in the next few months. Already a patch with some additions coming next week if I understood correctly.
Is it a perfect game or a Diablo-killer? Of course not. But for more casual Diablo-style lovers, it feels decent. For hardcore gamers of the genre, definitely not a Diablo or Path of Exile killer.
Looking forward to hearing about the Switch version.
@ryancraddock when is the embargo lifting by the way?
@jipiboily
Better to play any of the first two games really. Everything I've read about T3 makes it seem a disappointing mess in comparison.
I'll see if I ever try it. Loved the first two, haven't touched the third yet, and generally, people don't seem as fond of the third game as the other two.
@cheesedude I already have the first two and played enough. I want something new, even if it's not perfect. That said, I'm not on a rush...so I'll likely wait to see reviews, and maybe wait a few weeks to see patches and the post-launch direction.
I'll be getting it and judging for myself if I like it or not. I like the genre but not enough to get PoE and Diablo 2. I like the first two games then it's a win for me.
"More of the same" would be enough reason for me to buy it. But I'll definitely wait for some Switch Reviews before buying it. For known reasons.
Gonna need a demo, thanks.
Is the actual game still technically on Early Access? Really want to give this a chance, but willing to wait
Hoping for a demo. I ain't go no moolah.
@N8tiveT3ch PoE is free.
