Back in June, during the BitSummit Gaiden online event, Inti Creates announced it would be reviving its flagship 2D side-scrolling series Azure Striker Gunvolt for a third outing.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is described as a "true blue sequel" to Azure Striker Gunvolt - with action supervisor Keiji Inafune (Level-5 Comcept CCO) and series' director Yoshihisa Tsuda on-board. It also sees the return of Gunvolt, and the addition of one new and "incredibly charming" character known as Kirin.
Now, after a number of months, Inti Creates has announced it will be showcasing the third entry to the public for the first time at this year's Digital Games Expo - taking place at Akihabara UDX on 29th November.
While we wait to see what comes of this, why not take a look at some of the footage of the game from earlier this year in the clip above. There's no release date just yet, but when we hear something we'll be sure to let you know.
Is this game you're looking forward to getting your hands on? What are your thoughts about what you've seen so far? Tell us down in the comments.

But I still haven't got around to finishing the first game.
One of these days I'll play one of the games in this series, I've been meaning to for a while, just haven't got the chance.
Completed the first game and beat a significant chunk of the second one. I think I'm good for the foreseeable future.
I can't wait for part 3. I loved 1, 2, and luminous avenger ix.
@Kalmaro same. I hope they continue using a pixel art style for the third game.
I know it’s just a game, but the concept art looks so weird to me. Like a confused art direction. What are the outfits trying to portray? The dude looks like he’s wearing some kind of uniform, but the others look like they are late to their next anime expo.
Really I want more Mighty Gunvolt Burst and Master Blaster Zero, I’ve never been able to get into the modern Azure Striker games sadly, and I’ve tried three of them now. I’m not sure what the problem is, but they just don’t seem to hold my attention.
Japan is holding in-person conventions already?
Instead of this silly j-pop music they should hire band like Band-Maid or Lovebites to do the soundtrack. Would be EPIC.
I'm a bit sad that most of the previous comments aren't that positive since I love this series and see it as the true Megaman successor without being a copy like Mighty N. 9 and by giving a different approach to gameplay and mechanics but anyway, I think that this series is amazing and I'm looking forward to play the third game. I hope that the people that haven't been able to play them give them a chance.
Is it just me or does the game seem to have rhythm based combat? Like towards the end where the girl with the sword is fighting the robot.
@CorvoRevo The music has always been J-Pop because one of the main and reoccurring characters is Lumen, a pop idol.
Spoiler question:
Didn't Joule/Lumen merge with Mytyl at the end of GV2 into a new being? Why are we dragging her virtual corpse with us again?
@roy130390 @DMH love the series too and played through all games and getting the true endings. The challenge is to get high kudos which makes you play the games differently compared to Megaman games
I still need to beat the first 2 games in the series. lol
Though I enjoy this series of games the more I play of them the more of the same they feel. I hope if they make a fourth entry that they evolve the gameplay a bit. It doesn't had to go straight to 3D but it needs to introduced something new.
Haven't played a lot of the second game yet as other games have gotten in the way. The first game was good and the second one so far, good.
Will get this eventually
Haven't started Luminous Avenger iX yet, but I will definitely get it done before GV3 drops.
