Perp Games and indie developer Firesprite Games have announced final release dates for the upcoming physical releases of The Persistence, a sci-fi horror game which first launched on the Switch eShop a couple of months ago.
Switch owners in Europe will be the first to get their hands on a copy, with PAL territories receiving the physical release in just a couple of days' time on 31st July. It'll then launch on other platforms on 4th September, before the North American Switch release arrives on 29th September.
Rob Edwards, Managing Director of Perp Games, has shared the following in a press release:
"Firesprite has created such an atmospheric, intense, and massively enjoyable game in The Persistence and we are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to bring it to new audiences across all formats."
Here's a sneaky look at the box art:
We'll leave you with a few lines from our review of the game, which we first published when it launched on the Switch eShop back in May. Make sure to give the full thing a read if you want to learn more.
The Persistence is a unique and unsettling sci-fi horror roguelite that does an excellent job of transferring its tense atmosphere and absorbing gameplay loops from its original VR form to the Nintendo Switch. There are tons of weapons and toys to tool around with as you run the gauntlet, the permanent aspects of the gameplay are refreshingly generous and survival mode and New Game+ provide a properly stiff challenge for those who prefer their roguelites to be tough as nails.

So will the physical release only be available with limited games only then or will this be widely available?
@huyi I've seen it available for preorder on base.com, pretty cheap actually, so it's going to be a "regular" print. I'd just advice to get it when you see it (if you want it, that is), because usually these lower budget runs are actually still quite limited, rarely get a reprint, and often are at their cheapest at initial release. Once unavailable in normal stores, of which many just ignore these smaller releases, it's up to ebay resellers to decide the price... And you don't want that.
I've been a collector for many years, and that's just my experience, the advice of a random person on the internet.
Glad I waited. Now I'll pick up the physical copy. Any work on the price here in NA?
Interesting. I thought it was already released since I pre-ordered my copy quite a while ago and received it in the last week. I guess the retailer I use, ships copies as soon as they get them. Same thing happened with Metro Redux - got it 2 weeks prior to the official release date.
This is an amazing game, one of my favorites on the Switch. Will be picking up the physical even though I have it digitally.
Is the full game on the cartridge? I've had PAL games with DLC that don't work on my NOA account & I don't want to make multiple profiles again
