GungHo Online has revealed that its real-time strategy title Volta-X launches on Switch on August 12th, with a price tag of $19.99.
On August 7th, GungHo will be holding a special preview event between 5 p.m. to August 8, 9 p.m. PDT, but this will be accessible to PC players only. The game features cross-play between Switch and PC players.
Want a reminder of what it's all about? Here goes:
Volta-X is a real-time strategy RPG, where players control a crew of animal pilots working together within a giant Volta robot, battling other Voltas and monstrous Kaiju in both PvE and PvP fights. Players can customize their Voltas with thousands of combinations - creating a custom loadout to suit their playstyle that can implement multiple weapons including heat sabers, massive drills, acid launchers, and more. Strategy in battle is key as players manage firing off weapons and commanding their team of Volta pilots to power-up weapons, repair their Volta, or extinguish fires. But in between battles, the crew needs time to relax and prepare for the next fight - they’ll relax at their fully customizable headquarters that can be decked out with a barrack, machine shop, garden, music room, and even a cinema - ensuring they remain happy, healthy, and ready for battle! As players progress through the game, they'll learn more about their crew members and the world they live in uncovering hidden secrets that may forever change their world...

I've had my eyes on this one. It looks right up my alley. I love giant robots.
Wow - something that actually looks quite unique!
A lot about this game looks great, though I doubt the gameplay is for me personally.
I’m a sucker for super robots and kaiju, so this looks like fun to me! Getter Robo with lots of Zootopia sprinkled on it in case the kids are watching.
I only wish the battles were action-based rather than RTS, but I may give it a try anyway.
I wasn't expecting anthropomorphic animals, but it looks really good. Count me in.
Kaiju and monster fans be on the look out for another game called 'Dawn of the Monsters'. I read a preview about it in NF magazine awhile back. For a sec I thought this was that game, but it's not! 'Dawn' will be a brawler.
Great time to be a fan of giant monsters.
@Losermagnet It looks like they turned that ol' King of the Monsters into a beat em up. Thanks for the heads up!
No physical I’m assuming... darn it...
Wow this looks awesome!
Wow, animal sentai , customizable team and Kaiju battling mech, even base managing system??? Count me "Freaking" in, 20 bucks is a steal for a game of this quality. Sadly I'm still waiting for a full action version of this types of games, don't get me wrong love turn base RPGs, but any Kaiju mech anything always turns into sometype of turn base strategy anything and the market, as small as it is, is already full of this. Anyhow still looks amazing and fun hope "limited run" gives it an awesome solid copy collectors . =:3
Is it just me that gets the sense Volta X
is sounding a lot like Voltron?
@Reigestugatensho
Voltron did spring to mind 😁
But even before that I thought of Voltus-V (five), the classic combining robot team sequel to Combattler-V (“V” as in Victor).
I have been exposed to way too many old robot anime in my days. 😅
Can somebody tell me why I can’t find Volta-X listed in the US e-shop, though?? You’d think with less than 2 weeks to release they’d want the exposure. I was going to wish list this along with Burgertime and Panzer Paladin.
@Teksetter It takes time for the Nintendo Switch to upload new games on the Eshop. It will most likely be there within the next week if we're lucky!
@Reigestugatensho
Here’s hoping! Volta-X looks infinitely better than some of the other efforts listed in the E-shop’s Coming Soon section. 😁
